Enter The Dragon used to be shown with Fists of Fury & Return Of The Dragon at the local Drive-In. Bruce Lee was a huge in the seventies. You grabbed the Drake for only $3 John? Fantastic. That Cave was a nice find too. Man do I like that Car Boot Sale. I am going to have to fly out there to check out one of them. {smile} I have never seen one of them here in New England. I have the James Brown album but I have not listened to it yet. Excellent stuff~ Rob/Boston
I bought as much Prince Buster that I could find back in the 90’s and it wasn’t easy back then in Canada anyway, but I did manage to find Judge Dread and Wreck a pum pum the Prince is a king 👑
Nice finds! Would love to come across those Nick Drake and Nick Cave LPs. I've always meant to look up some reggae/rocksteady tunes and these sounded like a good place to start so I'm to sample these bands. Thanks for sharing!
Who’s gonna call out James Brown on a little song thievery?? Bowie made the right decision! Cool finds John!! That Prince Buster was especially great!! Have a good one!! Cheers, Jon
Some really brilliant finds there. The artwork for those Trojan Explosion 45s look fantastic. Who knew you could find decent copies of Alice Coltrane and the Enter the Dragon score at a car boot sale! Amazing.
Some bargains there. I've picked up that " Enter The Dragon " myself at a record fair. If you don't know it, and can stream stuff Dennis Coffeys version of the " Enter "theme is great and super funky!. Been on the look-out for Nick Drake forever.
Pound for Pound that Nick Drake has to be the greatest find in VC history..I actually don’t like Nick Drake much..but I know people who would kill for that copy..I’ve never actually seen one in the wild & Ive seen most things over 35 years of digging. That Prince Buster is ace, bargain too!
Cheers Harris. Yeah, the Nick Drake album was a pleasant change from the boxes of Jim Reeves and James Last records I normally see at car boot sales. I reckon I should hang up my record digging boots. I’ve definitely peaked. That ain’t gonna happen again 👍
Car boots must be coming to an end soon? Quite remarkable what turns up at them I would wanna get up early but never do manage it. Wet singles? Yeah I'd have gone through them too. Never picked up any nasty diseases yet, more likely to get something off of OCD audiophiles with sterile record collections, germs thrive in ultra clean environments. Fancy JB nicking off of Bowie that really is quite shocking guess we all eventually run out of ideas and adopt a bit of plagiarism.
Me again , i worked for a film distribution company in the 1970s. We had some Bruce Lee Kung Fu movies in the film vault. Enter the Dragon was released by the company 50 years ago now
@@6inchpianist Yes it was wonderful. I really enjoyed my time in it. I worked for the National Film Library here in New Zealand too in the 1980s. I did film editing there. Both jobs don't exist anymore.
Some brilliant finds there. Love that Max Romeo 45 - the bass on it is terrific. There are some solid versions of it as well. Lucky to find some Buster on Fab in decent condition. Everytime I find them, they are totally beat up. Nick Drake for £3! How could someone overlook that? Lovely video - wish we had boots like that around here. Too far from the city here. Mind you, I'm still buzzing from my Marvin Rainwater find a couple of weeks ago. All the best, Steve.
Hi Steve. The Nick Drake album was a somewhat unexpected find! I’ve thoroughly enjoyed spinning it over the past couple of weeks. It’s a beautiful record, although Pink Moon is still my favourite. The reggae 45’s sound great. You can lose hours spinning reggae singles. One of life’s great pass times. Have a good weekend. Cheers. John
My word, I really should start getting up and going to car boot sales. But I need my beauty sleep! I'd hate to find something like that 1st press of Bryter Layter, it would cause a breakdown from contemplating whether to sell it on, or keep it. I actually think my mind might shut down having to deal with that quandary.
Corr, John! I don't know how you do it. The only car boot sale I went to this year was a wash out. I thought I did well, years back, finding 'Two Headed Freap' by Ronnie Foster for 50p but 'Bryter Layter' for £3!!!? You have the Midas touch.
Cheers Bruce! Not sure about the Midas touch, I’m just stupid enough to walk around a field at 5 in the morning every Saturday and Sunday 😀. It’s the only time I get any peace from the family!! 🤣
Fantastic haul 👍👍👍 Bad Manners did a bit of tune thieving with the Prince Buster you played.....they re-worked it and called it "Ivor the engine". I think it's on their first album "Ska N' B" 👍👍👍
Great pick ups ! I normally don't come back to a box if I see someone going though it. Probably should start to check anyway ! Unbelievable Nick drake pickup
Hey. Thanks for the comment. Yeah, if we see someone get in to a box of records first, we always assume that they’ve had the best stuff. We only know what we know though. Sometimes some of the more quirky stuff gets left behind. I was lucky that day. Cheers! John
Blimey, Alice Coltrane, Enter the Dragon and Nick Drake too, a decent bit of hunting there! You know to this day I have never heard The Chronic. A bit surprised by the date of 1992 for it, thought it was a mite later on - must have been taking my eye off hiphop by that point. Cheers!
Hi Doug. That was a great morning’s digging! The Nick Drake album is without doubt my best find of the year. A beautiful record, although not necessarily his best. I think Pink Moon would be my favourite of his. It’s far more stark than the other two. Really moving. Cheers. John
Some great finds John but wow first press of my favourite Nick Drake for £3! Find of the season, how did they miss that but glad they did. I found a repress of Enter the Dragon recently at a boot having never had it. The opening made me laugh. Cheers Dale
Hi Dale. The Enter The Dragon soundtrack if a gem. I love those sound effects! The Nick Drake album is a corker but not my favourite of his. I’d plumb for Pink Moon myself.
This is making me want to get my driving sorted over the winter ready for next years car boot season 😅 That Enter the Dragon, Nick Drake and Chronic 🤯 the chronic especially still being in the shrink £30 is a mad good deal!
Yeah, the Nick Drake was the best find of the summer for me. I also picked up a copy of the Boatman’s Call in recent weeks. Was gonna show that but showed Let Love In instead. Changed the photos but not the music for the clip. Bugger. 🤦♂️
Nice one on the Mr Drake lp. I think sometimes vinyl blindness kicks in if you find so much good stuff in one go. This obviously happened to the 2 other guys who got there before you!
Hi. I think we all assume that everyone knows what you know. It was probably just the case that they were looking for classic rock and didn’t know that ND record. Just goes to show that it’s always worth looking no matter how many people got in their before you. Thanks for the comment. Cheers. John
Yes sure. There are plenty just looking for the classic rock and I’ve had cases where people miss soul and reggae stuff. The one that’s usually missed is the classical stuff and sometimes people just don’t bother with the 45s
Nice one John - I'm curious, do you have a re-issue of Bryter Layter to compare that original too? Is the sound quality noticeably different? Cheers - D
He can't tell you that! Information like that is top secret. One false step and the whole second hand record market will come crashing down around our non audiophile ears.
Hi Glen. Yes, I picked up a copy of The Boatman’s Call but didn’t end up showing it. Changed the photos on the clip but not the music (should’ve been ‘Nobody’s Baby Now’). Bugger.
Really fine finds, as usual. Incredible that you found Nick Drake. Why would anyone pass over that! It was meant to be yours, I guess 🙂
Enter The Dragon used to be shown with Fists of Fury & Return Of The Dragon at the local Drive-In. Bruce Lee was a huge in the seventies. You grabbed the Drake for only $3 John? Fantastic. Hi Rob. Give that James Brown album a spin! You won’t be disappointed. Cheers. John
😊 = Me watching your videos.
I have found so many great records because I follow your videos.
Cheers Lars! I’m sure you’ve discovered a lot of bad records through my videos too 🤣
To the digger go the rewards. The Prince Buster find is great. Only been able to find one of his 45s here.
Hi 👋 That James Brown record cover is cool.
That was a nice strike of excellent albums and 45", those British car boot sale seams to be the thing over there! Lucky you, happy spinning! Cheers
Cheers Pops!
Hi,
When you popped the Nick Cave lp on I was certain you were going to play Thirsty Dog lol. Great haul.
☮ Andy H
Who’s gonna call out James Brown on a little song thievery?? Bowie made the right decision!
Cool finds John!! That Prince Buster was especially great!!
Have a good one!! Cheers, Jon
Cheers Jon! No one’s gonna argue with James Brown 🤣
Some really brilliant finds there. The artwork for those Trojan Explosion 45s look fantastic. Who knew you could find decent copies of Alice Coltrane and the Enter the Dragon score at a car boot sale! Amazing.
Hey. Yeah, the Trojan singles have lovely artwork. I think collecting records is soften as much about the cover art as it is the music. Cheers!
Some bargains there. I've picked up that " Enter The Dragon " myself at a record fair. If you don't know it, and
can stream stuff Dennis Coffeys version of the " Enter "theme is great and super funky!.
Been on the look-out for Nick Drake forever.
Well done you 👍
Cheers!
great finds, john
Cheers Nadine 👍
£3 Bryter Later, what an unbelievable find!
Cheers Glen!
It always pays to go back to things a second time. I do the same in record shops. Great haul there John!
Cheers Andy!
Enter the Dragon and Alice Coltrane are nice finds. Great score on that nick Drake album
Cheers Alex. That was definitely a good day 👍👍
first UK press Nick Drake for 3 GBP in excellent condition??? you just officially got the best find I have ever heard of!!
I ain’t gonna argue with you 👍👍
Pound for Pound that Nick Drake has to be the greatest find in VC history..I actually don’t like Nick Drake much..but I know people who would kill for that copy..I’ve never actually seen one in the wild & Ive seen most things over 35 years of digging. That Prince Buster is ace, bargain too!

Huge score on the Drake!
Hi Chris. Yeah, that was a proper result! Hope all is good with you. Cheers. John
£3 for Nick Drake?! Now we’re talking, John! All fantastic scores here, but as far as value goes - you can’t beat that.
Nick Drake sounds even better when it only cost £3! 😀
Me again , i worked for a film distribution company in the 1970s. We had some Bruce Lee Kung Fu movies in the film vault. Enter the Dragon was released by the company 50 years ago now
Hi Carl. Working for a film distribution company? That sounds like a really cool job 👍
@@6inchpianist Yes it was wonderful. I really enjoyed my time in it. I worked for the National Film Library here in New Zealand too in the 1980s. I did film editing there. Both jobs don't exist anymore.
Amazing finds!!! That Nick Drake is worth a lot!
Cheers Angelo! 👍

Great finds as always... that samueal Jonathan johnson is lovely. I belive it has a rather savage edit, but a lovely thing on 45. Cheers!
Hi Laurence. Yeah, the edit on the SJJ is pretty harsh. A cool little mouldy find though. Thankfully it cleaned up nicely. Cheers 👍👍
That marhaba band 45 is on my wantlist, great find as well, I forgot to mention. Great diggin' video
Cheers Chris! I didn’t know anything about the Maharaba Band 7”. A nice discovery for me 👍
You’re a lucky lad! Funny to hear that James Brown pinched the Fame riff. Sounded good though. And what a dream finding Bryter Later 😮😮
I had a spring in my step for the rest of the day after finding the Nick Drake, John. 👍
I bet you did. Hope you have as much good vinyl luck next car boot season!
That last track was killer. Nice finds, esp. that Nick Drake which is an all time favourite.
Cheers Fred. The last track has a real groove to it. An interesting 45. A nice double sider. 👍
Some great stuff there John, well done 👍
Cheers Peter 👍
My word, I really should start getting up and going to car boot sales. But I need my beauty sleep!
I'd hate to find something like that 1st press of Bryter Layter, it would cause a breakdown from contemplating whether to sell it on, or keep it. I actually think my mind might shut down having to deal with that quandary.
Keep getting that shut eye, mate 😀

Hi Nick. I remember the BM tune “Ivor The Engine” but I never realised it nicked the Prince Buster track. I’ve learned something new! Cheers. John
I really miss scoring records at garage sales and flea markets. Not really a thing here in Vegas, sadly
You’ve got enough records, Zach. You don’t need any more 😉
Well done squire nice records. You do seem to find some gems!
Cheers Andrew!
Great pick ups ! I normally don't come back to a box if I see someone going though it. Probably should start to check anyway ! Unbelievable Nick drake pickup

Hey! Yeah, The Chronic was one of my best pick ups in ages. It’s a great record! Cheers. John
“My Music“ is the one on the Samuel Jonathan Johnson single, although I have the 12” so I don’t know the shorter version. Amazing tune.
nice finds John, haven't heard Byter Layter in a long time, Enter the Dragon soundtrack, killer
Cheers Sean! Yeah, the Enter The Dragon soundtrack is a lot of fun. I love the sound effects 👍
Major oooof! on the Nick Drake, as I'm sure many folks will point out, the Nick Cave track you played isn't on that album.
Yeah, the Nick Drake was the best find of the summer for me. I also picked up a copy of the Boatman’s Call in recent weeks. Was gonna show that but showed Let Love In instead. Changed the photos but not the music for the clip. Bugger. 🤦♂️

Oops, what was I thinking!? 🫢
Am I going crazy, or were you playing a different Nick Cave album (Boatman’s Call) to the one you showed (Let Love In)?
Hi Glen. Yes, I picked up a copy of The Boatman’s Call but didn’t end up showing it. Changed the photos on the clip but not the music (should’ve been ‘Nobody’s Baby Now’). Bugger.
