I thought the French opening ceremony was very poor. Especially when you compare it to the one we had in the UK in 2012 which I consider to be the best ever. The 2012 UK opening ceremony was dramatic and entertaining from the beginning. It celebrated British history and the Industrial Revolution. It celebrated our NHS and our pop musical culture and heritage. And it all took place inside the stadium which I always think is the best place to have the opening ceremony. I thought the French opening ceremony was very poor. Especially when you compare it to the one we had in the UK in 2012 which I consider to be the best ever. The 2012 UK opening ceremony was dramatic and entertaining from the beginning. It celebrated British history and the Industrial Revolution. It celebrated our NHS and our pop musical culture and heritage. And it all took place inside the stadium which I always think is the best place to have the opening ceremony. The French opening ceremony was all over the place so lacked a dramatic unity... And all that woke, self-indulgent nonsense just made it all even worse. The French people should be embarrassed that this represented their great country. And as for the organizers of this debacle - heads should roll!
The woman with the severed head was depicting Marie Antoinette. For me that was the worse part of this woeful spectacle. What in human terms happened to this unfortunate woman was horrendous, and not something to be used as a celebratory event! Can't imagine the head of Charles 1st being put to similar use!!! What happened to the French RF during the revolution included the mental torture and,starvation of a 9 year child and his 15 year old sister.. Louis Charles died before he could be saved , Marie Therese did get to Austria, but led a very unhappy life. Disgusting, the French should be ashamed.
