When i was 20 and lived with my 2 best friends downtown we just got into white wine because we would go out damn near every weekend and we literally tryed every white wine they sold around us, the best one is a SWEET Riesling. Even people that don't like wines of any kind will drink a sweet Riesling and change their mind! Getting into wines is fun and cool 😂 just don't be a snob

If you don't like wine, don't become a wine expert. I wanted to become a alcohol expert and I enjoy whiskey, so that's what I went with. It's quite amazing how many things there are to choose from to become "snobs" in when you truly think about it. Its good knowledge to have and its fun to casually impress people with it, I know my gf's dad and I sat up all night and became best friends because we both enjoyed BBQs and Whiskey, and that's how I got the stamp of approval from him which I will never not find amusing. Just stuff like that which is so random can be so enjoyable if you actually pursue learning about things you enjoy.

Champagne is the exact same thing as sparkling. The only reason it has a different name is because it’s made in champagne France and for some reason they were allowed to use their own special branding. When I worked for a catering company they would often ask for champagne in the registry and we would send sparkling wine in its place and there were never any complaints.
