Watching people justify stealing because their life sucks is crazy, they are the definition of being selfish, since their life sucks they drag down everyone else instead of trying to deal with it urself
completely agree. then people try to justify it by saying they are ripping off the billionaires and that the billionaires are the problem. Sure the billionaires are a problem to address but stealing does nothing to them that's why insurance is a thing, they want people to steal to claim losses. Who does it really hurt? the common folk around them. The common people who work at the stores making hourly wages and trying to better their lives. The workers / people who want to make a change and challenge the system from within. They are forced to deal with the potential of losing their jobs as the company they work for might and will just close down that location on whilst cashing insurance claims for their losses. Leaving that area even more vulnerable to begin with. It's almost like the billionaires WANT the stealing and crime so that it tears down the power of the common whilst they remain on top. But try to explain that to the average person who has fallen prey to the kind of ideology whom often are drug dependent. The majority of people that do not steal or fall victim of that ideology are actively trying to challenge the system from within are being combated and torn down by the people who, for example, think its okay to steal, rob and commit crimes.

Once they have enough power to change something they profit off the system and therefore no longer want to change it. Having to drive into SF to work a 925 minimum wage job kind of reminds me of these Nepalese construction workers that were flown in to quatar to build the stadiums.

Americans have a very primitive view on justice that is focused on punishment rather than preventing further crimes. A thief doesn't deserve to be shot if they aren't an active threat to someone else's life, especially in places where it is incredibly hard to afford to just live. Whether or not this person was stealing to be able to afford rent or just to buy shit for himself, it doesn't make a difference in terms of whether or not shooting him is okay. I also feel that large corporations exploit workers to a degree where I don't care if people steal from them. I feel like stealing from random people's cars and things like that is much worse than stealing from a big corporation. I still think it'd be better if the theft law was limited to necessities and that people could actually afford to live there on normal wages.

Doing that also helps normalize stealing from stores which just makes the situation worse and continues the terrible cycle. You’re actually brain dead if you’re ok with people stealing from stores of large corporations or you’ve never worked a retail job before.

TL;DR - Moving, in any capacity, is a process that is costly. Especially when you're broke, in debt, have no car, few friends, no family, etc.
the city i live in already has a relatively low cost of living, and it is still difficult to live here. not only that, but even in the event that i were to move, the cost barriers that would be in my way are damning. getting up and moving to some place entirely different is not an easy task, especially for someone already struggling. many people are living paycheck to paycheck and STILL not making ends meet, literally just barely surviving. significantly easier said than done. many of these people don't have cars, they're already in debt, and even worse, many of these people are simply alone with nobody to help them. imagine trying to move someplace new with no car, no one to help you, LESS than zero dollars in your bank account, predator land lords, an unfathomably inflated housing market, unlivable wages, lack of job opportunity because you couldn't afford to get higher education, i could sit here for hours typing reasons. the opportunity to move some place new, is a luxury.
these are issues that can be solved as a society, but not if we continue to dismiss people and their issues as vagrants and lost causes. maybe they got themselves there, maybe they didn't. who cares? why did we form a society if not to help each other?
