    Just went to the beach from my house in Annapolis, Maryland….drove my 2022 Polestrar 2, AWD with performance software. Round trip distance was 210 miles. I pulled into my driveway with 31% remaining on my SOC. That translates to 304 miles range on a full charge. Real world data.

    Thanks, in particular for the fair comments when comparing cars.
    Yes, the Model 3 shows lower consumption than almost any other EV. I almost bought one a year ago. But it is also known that the values for Tesla are a bit optimistic.
    More importantly for me, for a family car and for loading my bike into the trunk the hatch back is such a huge advantage that we bought a Polestar 2 (LR, dual motor) instead. I‘m so happy that we did, it‘s a great car. Certainly better than any ICE car I was driving before.
    And, by the way, my average consumption over more than 10‘000 km is 17.6 kWh/100 km (each about a third city, cross country and highway, including high Swiss mountain passes).

    • @venti4268
      @venti4268 Před 2 lety +1

      I'll guess consumption on the Polestar 2 is extremely sensitive to speed. And that is mainly due to design I think. And when testers like Kris and the other youtubers test - they often test on motorway speed. I most of your km's are done on none highway/motorway - the consumption would be very different. And the consumption difference between EV's may differ from what you see on motorway. Most og my km's are done on commute with maximum of 70 km/h, so I'll guess Polestar 2 consumption is not that bad for those trips compared to for instance Tesla model 3.

    • @marcel3045
      @marcel3045 Před 2 lety

      @@venti4268 Yes, and that‘s true for every car. The main cause for power consumption at higher speed is wind draft resistance. Can‘t do much about it (other than driving slower).
      However, I drive with higher tire pressure and I turn off A/C and heating whenever possible. That results in saving about 1 to 2 kWh/100 km.

    It would be nice to get a review/presentation of the standard interior in the Polestar 2 (without Plus-pack). Almost every CZcams video regarding PS2 shows a PS2 with Plus-pack. How does the standard seats look and feel compared to the Weavetech-seats? How about the 3D design elements, compared to the wood elements in the Plus pack? Is the standard sound system OK? How does it feel without panorama roof, will the car feel too dark or will headroom feel too narrow, and does the steel roof lead to less noise?

    Thanks for this detailed look at the range of the PS 2. To some extent motorway range is overlooked for the smaller EVs - Zoe, VW i3, etc - as these are presented as semi- city cars, but it is an important issue when we consider EVs in the next bracket up, given their higher price and larger carrying capacity. So, the PS 2 comes out pretty well despite not being quite as efficient as the Tesla Model 3. I'm looking around for my next EV and on this data would be swayed in favour of the PS 2 as build quality matters and beats Tesla, although performance is slightly lower.

    Well done Polestar in that crap weather. All the EVs listed are now converging to similar numbers for range and efficiency. There's no compelling argument to chose one over the other in that respect. Choices can now be largely based on design, practicality, interior, noise, seating comfort etc.

      I recently got my LRSM 2022 model (Pilot and Plus), and from the only long trip on highway (110km/h) with probably 10-15% driving in city and country roads, I averaged about 17.5kWh/100km with winter tyres (Nokian Hakka R3 19") and heatpump on Eco. Dry roads, about 10 celsius, almost no wind. Google Maps said I was going to arrive with 31% SoC but I arrived with 35%. That average consumption would mean that you should be looking around 420-430km from 100% to 0%. I drove with Adaptive Cruise Control on, so I did "swing" a bit down in speeds at times. I was basically just following a car that I thought kept a good pace.
      However, as soon as my better part was driving, the average consumption jumped from 17.5kWh to 21+kWh... She likes do actually drive the car and not let the car drive you :D.

    Hey Kris, why don’t you take this Polestar to The Netherlands? Drive down through Denmark and Germany and enter The Netherlands at the northernmost border. Travel across the province of Groningen and Friesland towards the Afsluitdijk and then take the A2 highway to Maastricht in the south. You try out our charging network all through The Netherlands too. Once you get to Maastricht you can hop back over the border to Germany and head back up to Norway.
    The Netherlands is next to Norway on of the countries in Europe where EV are really taking off. The density is not yet as high as Norway but due to taxes and incentives, EV is really popular as both company car and HEV / PHEV for private purchase. It would be great to get a proper user evaluation of the network experience here.
