    Hi Bjørn, me again. Suggestion for CZcams presentation. This may be just me, I'm over 70, but I find it difficult to identify the relevant performance parameters you show on some of the app screen shots. The Excel spreadsheets are ok with the helpful highlighting but I find some of the phone app screen shots overwhelming, I'm trying to listen to your valuable commentary and spot which parameter you are talking about at the same time. Freeze framing does not help. Any chance you could either dim out the other numbers or put some sort of marker frame around the relevant figure? To use an old expression I can't see the tree for the forest!

    My LRSM 22 is averaging 15.8kwh/100km on mixed driving conditions in summer and 24-25 in winter (Canada here so, -10 to -20C)

    I've got over two years and 50K km on my 2021 P2, I noticed the "slack" in the cruise control was new with one of the many OTA software upgrades. I assumed as you did that the change was in the interest of slightly improving efficiency. I'm a bit jealous of the charging speed improvement with the new model, although to date, here in Canada there aren't even many chargers that can deliver the 150 kW I can take with ideal conditions. I love all the geeky details and thorough EV testing you do. Thanks for all your great work:)!

      I tested both yesterday (Polestar 2 SM LR 2024 vs i40 eDrive40). The BMW was scary fast on acceleration (my 7yo son was scared when we tested it) and it had very good quality in the interior. But the Polestar feels like a VW Golf, perfect for city, for small roads and even longer trips. Less flashy, more practical and still pretty fast and long range. I am torn, but price is so much cheaper in the Polestar right now with leasing... so I think it is going to be a Polestar.

    Not sure a good idea the car over-speeds downhill because some fix speed radars have very tight margin (can be down to a few km/h in France for instance).
    When I pick a fix speed I would like the car to keep it precisely and not worry about that...

    I rented the 2023 model of the PS2 LRSM 3 weeks ago for 4 days. Driving on the Autobahn most of the time, going between 105 and 115km/h (about 800km) and another nearly 200km in the city and out of the city (not on the Autobahn) I got an overall consumption of 13.9 kw/h per 100km as displayed by the car. Wheels were 19" and weather was dry and hot at 29 degrees celsius. AC was turned on to 23 degrees celsius. According to your results the 2024 Model is no improvement to the previous versions, Björn. I have to get my hands on a PS 2 LRSM Model year 2024 and see how it performs in my hands. I had a 2020'Tesla Model 3 SR for nearly two years, which I sadly had to sell after that. With that car I had an average consumption of 13.9 at the end. Between April and November average consumption was about 12.8kw/h on 18" all season tires. I test drove the 2023 Model 3 SR a few weeks ago and it felt like it was more powerful than the one I had although, on paper, it is slower to accelerate. It was such a joy to ride. The new Model 3 (2024) which was just released doesn't appeal to me from a design point of view. I miss the wood trim and the front end lacks exitement. I loved the old drl and front. I would so much love to buy one of the last Model 3 SR but I sadly lack the money. PS 2 MJ 2024 and Tesla Model 3 are my absolut favourite cars. I just love both of them. PS needs to do something about the price, though. But as mentioned before, I have no money for neither of those at the moment.
    I really enjoy your reviews, Björn. Your style is fun and you show the facts and things I like to know about the EVs you present.

    Hi Bjørn, I like the driver control layout in the Polestar range and this car is a nice uplift. Thank you for the review. I still feel that the Tesla MY is a better fit for my requirements. Too many options have to be added to the Polestar to bring it up to the same capability. Having said that RWD is a more driver experience orientated architecture than FWD and separates power delivery from the steering. I like the external look of the car and obviously it is very well put together. But Tesla has the integrated sat nav and supercharger network making range anxiety a thing of the past - at least where I am. I much prefer manual controls to touch screens but that's a trade off I am prepared to make for other perceived Tesla advantages. Again, thanks for posting - it all takes a lot of time and trouble.

    • @Torsten.
      @Torsten. Před 10 měsíci +5

      The Polestar has the latest version of Google Maps, which is much more accurate than the Tesla Navi and it also uses all other charging stations for planning.
      The charging port is at the back left like Tesla, so you can use the SUC the same way.

    • @Colt16v
      @Colt16v Před 10 měsíci +2

      As Torsten said, Google maps are more accurate, and Googles Android Automotive gives you a pretty accurate estimated SoC on arrival that updates as you go. Furthermore, you can tell the navi to only use Tesla and/or Ionity chargers. It´s basically like in a Tesla.
      Tesla Model Y is more of a family car than the Polestar 2 though. More space in the trunk, and rear seats are easier to access.

    So this car is advertised as 406 miles on the Polestar website but at a constant speed of 120km/h it gets 225 miles. This shows that WLTP testing values mean nothing and should at least include an average consumption with speeds at 90km/h and 120km/h.

    • @Saddex
      @Saddex Před 9 měsíci

      It's because WLTP is a combined testing cycle with a relatively low average speed of about 50 km/h. However, yes, if you want close to 640 km or about 400 miles at 120 km/h, WLTP would likely have to be around 900-1000 km/ 550-600 miles.

    I'd say it's the car of the 90s farmer. It's solid, but otherwise it's not that great.
    The pluses :
    - quiet up to 90 km/h
    - the interface is practical and fluid
    - torquey engine
    - it's not a tesla
    Minuses
    - not a very incisive drive
    - much less efficient than the tesla
    - few storage spaces, somes really not pratical
    - rear seats for children
    - no car parking (crazy eh)
    - opening the boot with your foot works one time out of 2
    - the adaptive cruise control makes you puke
    - the polestar app is ultra slow
    Clearly, my next car won't be a Polestar.
