Geo - Jak na to + styl
Fantastic video. ❤️ from Bombay ,India. I have my maternal grandfathers Wilkinson butterfly DE razor. Its over 60 years old and the handle is actually made of pure ivory! Shaving with it is always amazing. Not once have I ever nicked or cut myself even if im careless or shaving in a hurry!
Old is gold!
Hi Geo, greetings from France. I discovered wet shaving with this razor and this shaving cream two years ago. The Palmolive cream is the most common cream in France. It is sold in every supermarkets.
What about the D'amaris by Sole?
Excellent step-by-step instructions. I really appreciate that your videos have the beginner in mind instead of taking the viewers for granted after a while.
Wow I have this one. Shaving has been my new hobby for hmm let's say 3 months and I bought this for start and must say it's amazing. I can really recommend it :)
Welcome to the club!
@@EasyTarget82 Thanks :)
Hmm? I’m new
Out of curiosity, what blades do u use. I find the Wilkinson ones that came with it to dull. Once I finish them I’ll probably buy astra ones, but I’m curious about ur opinion?
@@matteovillella1482 I use Class C Gillette, but that’s mainly because they are one of few blades in stores where I live
Some more Wilkinson Sword facts (or myths). They were also made here in Wales where I live. It is said their sabre blades where so well tempered they could be curled inside a bowler hat. Second fact, we have my wife’s Great Uncle’s dress Wilkinson Sabre. Stay safe and keep your great videos coming.
I've been using this razor for 2 months and I'm very pleased with it.
I have been using this razor for the past 6 months. It is my first double edge razor. I think it is a little bit hard to begin traditional wet shaving but it is a good razor. I think it is a mild razor, milder than de89-r89, butterfly razors are easy to blade in. I can easily suggest to everyone who is beginner for wet shaving. Also thanks a lot for the review Geofatboy!
Thanks Osman-Greatly appreciated.
9:24 I liked the change of the blades, totally spontaneous! And it did made a difference!
I called an audible at the line of scrimmage. Kill Kill! Omaha Omaha!
Wilkinson blade almost destroyed his face 🫣
Hi Geo- Great shave; thank you! Good call to switch to the Feather blade. I hope your week is going well. Take good care and be safe and be well. Best regards, as always, Geo!
Here in Germany you can get the Palmolive for 1€, but it (often) is the only shaving cream/soap (-stick) you can get... So actually this is my go to, and I love it (great shave, great smell, nothing too strong)!
I recently bought the same exact shaving cream as I just started shaving with a safety razor, love the smell and it’s easy to get a good lather. Also, thank you for the quality content geo!
Wilkinson SWORD razor and W blades are THE ONE AND ONLY FOR MEN.
Nice shaving Geo.
Thank you. Stay healthy.
Thanks Geo, just started with Safety Razors. Good to see the blade difference.
Hey Geo, when are you going to do the expensive vs budget shave? The best low cost razors, blades, soaps etc... vs the top of the range shaving equipment, a Balboa vs Creed if you will... a David vs Goliath...a showdown to end all showdowns!✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
I just ordered it from Amazon after watching your review. Thank you.
Yay celebrating both a new video from Shave Nation and my new Feather Blades arrived today. (:
It's a great Day!
Love the bumpy bowl, works well, and fast,
Both Palmolive creams are top notch. And you can get them everywhere in Europe for just a Euro.
I think it is owned by colgate and is made in Italy.
Brilliant video George.
Thank you for this video. Wilkinson was my first safety razor. I was annoyed how long it took to get a good shave with it. It's good to see that part of the resposibility for that is on the side of the blades.
Glad you got it worked out!
Impecable as always Geo!!!
New products!!
Wellcome, thanks geo👍
Great shave Geo. I have that razor and use it occasionally. I also use a Feather blade when I use it.
Great! Greetings from Stockholm, Sweden. Have a nice weekend
Great review again! Thanks!
Great shave Geo! The feather did the trick:)
Excellent video. Thanks for the shaving lesson.
Glad you liked it!
The Loop 97.9 reminds of the old WLS 890 AM "The Rock of Chicago" which I used to listen to for countless hours. It was the station that I first heard Cheap Trick's "Dream Police" on. I know exactly how you feel. ;-)
Thanks Geo great review, Legend!
Thanks Chris!
Fa piacere vedere un video così chiaro anche io uso Palmolive soprattutto con il caldo. Il Wilkinson è un buon rasoio per cominciare 😊
After trying several soaps and creams I definitely prefer cream due to it's lubricity. After using most common brands available in supermarkets and drugstores here in Germany I ended up with Palmolive Sensitive as the one I always use. Much different to the non sensitive version which anyway has some ingredients that make my skin itchy during the shaving although lubricity is extremely good which I always appreciate. Also here in Germany we have a brand called Florena which makes excellent Nivea Balsam clones and also great shaving creams for adjusted budgets, available in many supermarkets.
That Wilkinson gives me feelings of my Weixi safety razor which is the worst I've ever had in my life and almost ended my introduction in this lovely world. I still wonder If I received a defective unit...
Just got this razor last week while at the cottage. Forgot my razor.
Great shave for my beard growth.
I shy away from feather blades. Always get cuts. I personally like my bic platinums.
This is one of my best 👌, and what a fine razor for the money 💰!
Morning Geo! Great to start the day with a new video. I always appreciate that you ask yourself if you can mix up a lather ;) ..."let's see if we can mix up a lather"
wow thank you for this instructional video. This video is a perfect demonstration that the razor blade completely makes the shave. Cheap razors are not necessarily bad
Thanks for watching and commenting!
I really enjoyed the enthusiasm in this video, cheerful man :-)
Thank you!
The Wilkinson Classic Razor is superb. I bought one a few weeks ago, and for it's price it gives me a terrific shave. No nicks or burn , its very forgiving. I have been using the blades included with it, so all good. It has gone in with my favourite razor roster. I used Porasso Red with it. Great shave and just buy one!
its got unequal blade exposure, its rubbish
@@hassyg4083 I spot it too
Great Shave. Went to Chicago in 88 with a army buddy from there. Showed me all the famous mob sites.
Nice shave Geo
I like the palmolive stick too
Hi Geo
Great content. I've learned a lot.
Thanks very much +700 vids to go!
Nice shave
I just bought one. Wilkinson is made in Solingen, Germany now. It’s like an old Gillette TTO close comb head. I bought the soap too and will buy a brush and make a video. Palmolive soap stick is amazing! Scent reminds me of my father.
I go this as my first DE razor. I agree with your comments accept I have no issues with the grip as a left hander. Cheers.
Sounds good! Thanks for sharing
I just bought this exact razor today but it was branded Schick. Looking forward to giving it a go in the morning.
Enjoy!
I bought one of these as my first DE razor after 30+ years of using cartridge razors. In the UK it's called The Edger, and it's cheap as chips; the build quality far exceeded my expectations, especially when you consider the price. I agree that the W-S blades that come with it aren't particularly good, however, with KAI blades, this razor absolutely shines! It'll deal with 7 days of coarse growth painlessly, effortlessly, and leave you with a face smoother than a baby's bum!
Another great video Geo, Please make a video of full review ASTRA green superior platinum and shave with them. Thanks
Feather blade for the rescue !
Another great video Geo, your video's have taught me a lot about shaving. Just out of curiosity, how does this Wilkinson classic compare to the old black plastic one?
About the overhang...
It is designed like that to serve a safety purpose.
The two overhangs are handles tha let you take the blade off the rasor without grabing it by the sharp edges. Caution is still required as even the overhangs are not sharpened, it still can hurt you if you grab them to tight due to how thin they are.
Never thought i would see a Danny Aiello shaving video lol
Just ordered this shaving cream to try it out. Sofar I've had really good shaves with Parker shaving soap, Arko soap in a bowl and Williams Mug soap. I've heard nothing but good things about Palmolive shaving cream so I'm excited to try it out!
And...?
@@geofatboy And.......it works pretty well. No complaints really. Just lathers nice, has good slickness and just does what it's supposed to.
Watching the Wilkinson razor work its magic is like witnessing a precision dance on that beard! 💈✨ Slicing through like butter and leaving nothing but a smooth masterpiece. #SmoothShave #WilkinsonMagic
#GeoFatBoy #dapper_steps
Nicely put-very eloquent!
Fun video. I will stick with my Feather ASD2 with Feather blades. The best for me. I do want to try the Palmolive cream as well as Speick one of these days... So far nothing has made me switch from Proraso... I tried pre-shave oil for a long time but I found the Proraso Pre-Shave cream to be superior. I have noticed that many blades have at least one edge that is sharper than the other, not sure why...
Those are good blades they are smooth but sharp.
Having just watched your shim video, it would have been interesting to see if a shim improved the aggressiveness of that Wilkinson blade instead of changing for a Feather. Just thinking out loud.
I use this blade to shave my head and its perfect
The weight and length just works for shaving my head
Can this razor last a lifetime?
Excellent demo. An interesting comparison would be to use the Wilkinson Sword blade, with the same beard growth BUT using an efficient razor such as the R41.
The Brush is just fantastic, nice shave, i have a request, can you do a video with C O Bigelow shave creme, because in my opinion you can find in this creme shave , the old , vintage formula of Proraso green, end it is fantastic. Greeting from Romania👍
Hey Geo, nice video! You know what, i think i fell in love with the palmolive cream. The scent is so good! Also the performance is top notch. The best thing about it though, is the price, 85 cents a tube, locally here in Germany. Alright Geo, im out too!
Good razor. Cheap, beautiful, nice balance, easy to find the angle, not aggressive and pretty effective. And what the most important - not feel the blade.
Have this and recommend. I love it more than King C. GILLETTE. What is also to good razor with great fit and finish.
I use this razor. It's awesome.
Woo Hoo!!!!!!
@@geofatboy wow a reply from the man himself! Love your videos Geo, I was shaving like a muppet until I saw your channel. 👊😉✌
Hi. Great demo shave. This was my first DE razor and i love it. That said the WS blades that came with it were terrible and I experienced the same poor result as you. As soon as I changed the blade it made a massive difference.
Makes me think I should keep them for my girlfriend which could probably benefit from using them rather than a cheap cartridge razor which irritates her skin a lot.
Thanks for this comment. I’ve used DE razors for years and they’re way better for me than cartridge. But I just got this razor and had a horrible shave. I was wondering if it was the razor or blades so will try will the usual blades instead of Wilkinson
@@TheRoarWithin the blades that came with the razor are terrible. Because this DE razor is so mild best use a sharp blade like a Feather. I use Astra greens and they work fine.
I like it when you try different creams as well As razors
I'll take my Wilkinson over my expensive razors any day. It's a terrific product, especially for the money.
Really? Interesting.
Geo, love the videos and your products. I know you generally dislike cartridge razors, but will you ever do a review of the Gillette heated razor?
Timing is everything Geo! Just last night I sent you an email stating that I'm currently using this razor. It was a great introduction but after our email exchange I ordered the Muhle R89 Twist with a pack of Feather blades. I can't wait to turn my wet shaving experience up a few notches.
theshaveden.com/forums/threads/weishi-9306-vs-gillette-superspeed.58600/
I was same as yourself bud, not good for heavy beard growth. I had to do several passes, I cut myself doing it. I had no other just , the ones that came. Just used it twice . Till I got couple of better aggressive safety razors, love Your reviews you break it down step by step. I must check out Shave Nation , get one of your best ones on it .
what makes it a this razor milder shaving razor despite putting the feather blade in?
I have this razor it was like £15/20 from the supermarket
I don't know much about shaving and you are like the master!
The Wilkinson blade (which I find compares favorably to the Persona in the red box of 100 blades) would work better on a one or two day growth, whereas the Feather blade (which seems to compare favorably with the Persona in the blue box of 100) works better on a multi-day growth that you used when you started this demonstration--------I have this razor and have used several blades; furthermore, I, too, have the Palmolive tube cream and the Simpson's Chubby 2 Silver tip Super Badger brush-------I suppose you can say that I'm finicky, but I look forward to shaving.
Geo I would like to ask you a question on your personal preference, do you prefer to use a straight blade or a DE razorblade ?
That's awesome just looked up the Wilkinson motorcycle, never knew about them until you said 👍
wikipedia is the bomb!
geo can you recommend cederwood products please especially cologne and balm? thanks TOBS has a great shaving cream but not cologne.
Just got this razor after using Edwin Jagger for a year. Get on fine with the Edwin Jagger but this felt horrible on my skin and I couldn’t avoid some cuts. Not sure if it’s the blade or razor itself.
Hi geofatboy
I think to change too gillette safety razor good and bad?
Wlkinson no selejt!super
Prova la Palmolive!
Adoro quest'uomo...👍
🇮🇹 🇮🇹 🇮🇹 🍕🍕
Do a review on the Palmolive sensitive shaving cream. There's almost no reviews on that shaving cream.
It's pretty nice, smells nice and lathers up pretty well.
I would recommend the tube over the stick soap tho.
nice tutorial! but what brand was the other blade?
It looks like this razor would suit me perfectly fine for weekdays use just to see how mild it is. I'm still cutting my self a little too much with either the King C Gillette nor the Viking Revolution so I guess I just need a milder razor, especially since I'm a beginner that started safety shaving for around a month and a half. I wouldn't go back to cartridge shaving, even if it would mean to me less cuts. And cartridge would never shave as close as what the safety razor can do! But once I'll go through all my blades (I have like 3 KCG remaining, 6 or 7 Viking and 5 Wilkinson (bought the razor yesterday)), I think I might go toward a combination of the WSword + Feather blades since I never really liked the feel of the Viking Revolution handle overall... As for the KCG, might simply keep it for when I need to shave after a weekend of non-shaving (I'm usually not shaving on Saturdays nor Sundays).
In the end, always great videos you show us. They help us making ourselves more confident into going the safety razor route!
I bought 2 year's ago the Wilkinson DE Razor i was not pleased with it at all, so i threw it in the bin!
The Classic shaveing cream is excellent the Palmolive!!!
The Wilkinson sword is one of the mildest razor and I get irritation by using mild razors I prefer aggressive razor
I did exactly the same. Straight into the bin. I tried it a few times and the top of the razor was catching on stubble. And the aggression was non existent. Terrible razor.
@@Phessington ....A 'YUMA' is far more better DE Razor; cheap light, and does the job!!!!!
@@gorachand1235 ...me too!
I useally shave with a YUMA, FATIP, and MUHLE R41 !
@@georgemakuca8870 I like to use my merkur futur on setting 6 or 5
Hey Geo, did you guys stop making the bumpy bowl used in this video? I can’t find it on your website now.
Hi Geo. Great Video: This is pretty much my daily set up. I bought the Wilkinson Sword Classic model which is a little bigger....a little heavier at 120gr. Love this mild razor for a quick shave when I am in a hurry and only do one pass just tool look presentalble, 2-3 more for that BBS face.
Have used Palmolive for years both soap and cream, I like to Face Lather as it gives the beard a good workout. Talk on the net that Palmolive has discontinued makeing shaving soap and cream😢 HAVE YOU HEARD ANYTHING??
I´v yet too try out the Wilkinson Blades that came with the razor as I am still useing up my Persona Blades and have been going over too the new DERBY BLUE Blades that I find work very well in all my razors...The Wikinson - Parker 96R - Bluebeard Cutthroat and my Bluebeard Shavett Razor. Which razor i use depends on how much beard I need to shave...Wilkinson for everyday, Parker or Blueberad for 3-4 days, the Shavett for 1-2 weeks, any longer and I just start up the Lawn Mower and shove my chin in there.
I can strongly recommend the Wilkinson for Bigginers, Quick Shavers, and Old Timers who need a mild shave.
As for Razor Blades....Beginners, buy a sample kit on line and find the right blade for you.
Happy Shaving
Hi Mark,
Thanks for sharing. I have seen that it's impossible to find Palmolive shaving cream anywhere. Anybody know for sure if it's been discontinued?
What do you think about aftershave lotions and balms from Nivea,Gillette??
This razor hates me!! 😂😂. The two times I've used it, it sliced me up! 😖😖. I don't know why, I have been DE shaving for 35 years and have a good few razors. This was about a year ago so I'm going to try it again soon. It was interesting to see just how much better the Feather blade was. I have never changed blades mid shave. I always thought the Wilkinson blades were pretty sharp!..... Stay safe Geo,
Dave.
Hi Dave, I'd give it the old college try with a few different blades. If it doesn't get better than it's not for you and move on.
@@geofatboy Yes, I have plenty of other Razors that I love. Did you receive my emails with photos of the Theatre I work at Geo?
Stay safe mate,
Dave.
I use the exact same products and can't fault them
How does this compare to the merkur HD/34c?
Geo💈💈 One of these days maybe you could show in a video how to "shim" a blade for more aggression, what do you think? This razor is definitely on the mild side, very similar to the black plastic Wilkinson Sword razor. I had to buy this cream on Amazon because nobody carried it, glad to see you are. Great video and review, thanks. Stay safe.
Hello there Jim....I am sure Geo will give you the answer your looking for, but I would drop in a feather to raise the aggression level. Have a great day!
Sorry!!!! Terry
Hey Geo, I have the same set up with the Wilkinson and feather, and for some reason I can’t go Against the grain on the neck, I will get all nicked up, yet when I have my mercur stubby more of a comb style opening as opposed to the finer comb on the Wilkinson it doesn’t bother me!
Does that tell you which is the better razor?
@@geofatboy oh yeah for sure, never thought it would matter but... it’s the merkur everyday for me, alternating between blades but feather seems to be most aggressive. Thanks for the videos they are great!
I just bought it with the Wilkinson blades I did two passes and I really could have gone one and done. My face was on fire really, cause I made the typical newbie mistake of pressing too hard like a cartridge, lol. No nicks though, I was very careful. I'm getting a sampler pack with some feather blades and 17 other brands. So that should be fun.
I am sold on double edge shaving, it's a very close and nice shave and so cheap vs. 3, 4 and 5 blade cartridge. I just have to learn to not be heavy handed. I knew not to be too, but just forgot. My skin does not like me right now, I had to break out the Polysporin, Aloe, you name it. But, the parts of my face that are not on fire, yeah, nice shave, just wonderful. Their blades though?! Meh, they are "o.k.", but I know so many other brands are cheaper and better and can't wait to order and try out my 100 pack of sampler blades
I might just get some Proraso sensitive skin pre save, what do you think of that stuff Geofatboy?
wilkinson or feather pop.?which is best?
i wonder which one people think is better, this wilkinson classic razor or the King C, Gillette?
i believe they are in the same price range.
They sell these at pretty much every pharmacy here for 19.99CAD. It's actually a decent razor for a shorter growth (1-2 day). I actually use it when I travel or for some other saving needs. I have yet to try the Palmolive shaving cream, I may need to get myself one soon. I decided to try a Feather blade recently and I bought myself 100! Great smooth blade. :)
Seen them at shoppers curious think I may buy one soon but I’ve tried their blades and don’t like em will stick to my feather blades and shark
Ohhh yes, cenkiu
Very yusfull
Thank you!
Your neck was tore up! Was it razor bumps from another shave or just acne
Do you carry any shaving products made in America
Wilkinson Sword Butterfly razor, where can I get this in India in Bangalore city. Also can you share link for Parker 60R razor.
Hi, I bought my first DE razor, a King C Gillette just over 4 weeks ago because the 3 blade cartridges got more expensive again. I tried it out, was quite satisfied, but it left some stubbles under my jawline (with the King C Gillette blades). So I decided to buy the Wilkinson as well. I find the Wilkinson a bit more aggressive, giving a better shave (both with KCG and Wilkinson blades). Afterwards I tried different blades (no name Supermarkt ones, said to be unbranded Personna red). They for sure were sharper, more aggressive than the Wilkinson and KCG. Now the interesting part: I found them to reverse what I found out about the razors, with those blade the Wilkinson seems to be a little bit milder than the King C Gillette, the Gillette a bit more aggressive than the Wilkinson. Is that even possible or am I wrong? Thanks for your review, I agree, both razors are well suited for beginners like me. Though I like the Wilkinson a little bit better.
the Wilkinson cuts people to shreds
Haven't seen the Palmolive AloeVera one in Germany yet
I must say, I also really like Wilkinsons Soap
