Always loved the interplay you and Simon have between your parts - Whole Child Ago and My Recovery Injection being two more great examples. Really understated and quietly genius - I really admire the way you always put the song first but still manage to create iconic, creative lines that stick in your head forever. A true bass player’s bass player!

We definitely got our bass playing style from songs like this, low string for the chorus and third string for the verses 👍
    Simple and effective!

Being a great bass player is nothing like being a great guitar player. Your job is to cut down to the absolute most essential notes, and taste is SO important because the bass has such a huge impact on the overall emotion of a song. A guitar is a paintbush and is great for making a lot of small, detailed embellishments. A bass is a sledgehammer: you need to be EXCEPTIONALLY careful about how you use it because it's SO powerful.
So perhaps LEARNING this part is easy, but WRITING it is not. Every single tiny detail carries so much weight. Great song, great band, great bassist! Huge inspiration, never stop writing records guys!

‘Simple’ perhaps, but really deceptively very hard to play that tight and clean. That’s where the power is.
Great tone, great playing - take it from a terrible bass player (me)...
