He's a good teacher, I'm impressed. He keeps things nice and simple and clearly explains what he is doing. Not something I see often in guitar tutorials.
Wanted to learn a Biffy Clyro song. Wasn't expecting to learn directly from Simon, though. Thanks!
BBC should try to do more of these kind of tutorials with other musician they get in!
if they did id watch n get tv liecence .first would be a Tv
Unfortunately not many musicians in the industry, can play instruments these days, all the talent seems to be working jobs these days while mumble rap is a thing
I don't even have a guitar with me right now, this is just so relaxing to watch...the pretty guitar sounds, the close up details of Simon's hand tattoos, the soothing Scottish accent...this is like some ASMR shit. Like a bob ross paint-along video.
Totally makes me wanna learn this too
i just can't imagine the moment that he said "guys, I have a new song" and played at first this beautiful anthem
Its not every artist that takes the time to share their music let alone with such patience.. Well done Simon. :D Monthebiff
What a legend Simon is. Top bloke.
Superb video. BBC should do more of this - remit to educate and all... Awesome of Biffy Clyro to be so generous.
One of the most individual musicians and bands of the last 20 years. Endearing teacher too.
One of the greatest songs written taught by the man himself! This guy has just become a legend in my book! I love this song, I love playing guitar and I love everything about what this video represents!
Big up radio 1 for bringing this to us and big up Simon also for doing.
AWSOME!
agree.. unreal
he's so genuine i love it. great musician, great tutorial, great man
As an advanced player i can truly say this is a very good lesson, so laid back and open. really enjoyed watching it, cant wait to play it.
What a lovely thing to do. Spend some time to teach fans how to play one of your songs.
This made me cry tears of love
Already knew most of it, but Simon filled some of the trickier bits that I just couldn't get my head round. Cheers Simon and the Radio One person for posting.
So good having Simon to teach you! I already knew it but it was a different version and obviously this is the correct way to play it and had fun learning it! Thanks Simon! xx
Will always be one of my favourite bands. Very accomplished musicians but so humble with it all. The fact that he played violin absolutely blew me away.
Not many celebs should be looked up to. Simon is definitely an exception. Such a legend.
THE ACCENT.
God, what a glorious man.
I could listen to him talk forever.
Just discovered this beautiful gem. There is something very special about this one. Tears every time.
This is so perfect! Very informative and so intimate to have Simon himself doing it! Please do more of these videos, big fan :)
all the possible tutorials for this song on youtube have just become useless
Precisely.
I know! I think it’s great he shared this with us. More artists should do this.
Brad Delson showed how to play the solo on 'A Line In The Sand', though it's nowhere near as detailed as this.
I actually found it easier to play in standard tuning.
Same goes for the comma in that sentence.
More of this please!
I love artists taking the time to teach people. 😀
This is priceless to fans 😁 there is nothing better than getting instruction straight from the source. Makes the music all the more enjoyable 👍🏼👍🏼
This is what I always say: you want to learn how to play a song the way it's meant to be played? Then learn from the Maestro himself! Thank you Simon! Thanks to you I now know what I did wrong and now I can play the song with my Coverband! Love you Bro and greetings from Germany!
This song means so much to me, I've devoted it to my mother. And as the lyrics would suggest we aren't the best of friends. I made a promise to myself to learn it, thank you for this man.
What a guitar lesson!!! I am stoaked. Thank you so much!!!
This is magic.. Even if I got my own story connected with this song, and if I'm listening to it in an completely other situation, I'm stunned! Thank you for keeping this feelings alive in my mind!
This literally gave me chills, awesome.......Currently learning to play ‘space’...... and now I’ve seen this I’m def doing this next, especially when it’s Simon teaching me 👍👍 what a fantastic sound and a great opportunity to learn from the actual person that wrote it instead of a ‘not quite rite’ variant .... radio one nailed it with this.... must do more 👍👍 thank you
Simons actually pretty good at teaching how to play the guitar👌
@Mr Lesir Definitely, there's a difference between being good at something and being good at communicating it

Some tabs are always different to how they actually play it, i prefer to play the way they (the Artist) play it.
I only like the hard work of working out new songs but older songs; a quick video like this will have it done in no time.
I don't play the guitar and I'm not a fan of Biffy Clryo but this video is fantastic. Need to do more stuff like this.
Wow, I love this band. Why don't more bands do this? I would watch these videos all the time.
