The cases are machined together. You CANNOT use a used one unless you buy a matched set. Clean it very very well, give it a few good tacks and use jb weld or your metal repair of your liking.

    • @2vintage

@@benjamindavidson632 yeah I was worried about that. I think the best option is to just find a good welder and weld it up.

@@2vintage Yep. Sometimes being a perfectionist cost too damned much, just to look cosmetically attuned. When getting a welder that knows how to weld aluminum is all it needs to work like new.

Been in this same predicament myself, where I replaced the case with another used case and it would leak oil and cause all sorts of issues for me. You’re better off using jb weld and just applying it properly.

I hope you know about the oil mod in the o5 and o6 yfz450. Also there is a stock cam mod to adjust the exhaust cam1 tooth clockwise on the timing chain its good for a instant 2 HP. Also to help your clutch last longer for higher HP motors install 3 stiffer springs in the clutch or just do all 6 it also prevents slipping. The indents on the clutch basket, file those down so the surface is smooth instead of a ridges = smoother clutch operation.

There is a reason Yamaha don't sell just half a case. They are machined at the factory as a pair both at the joint face and line bored for the shafts. You could get away with it or just be making a whole new problem. Just get someone to weld it. Got to be someone in your area that does that sort of work. Dont have to do everything yourself, no shame in outsourcing specialist stuff.
