You never ever put rtv silicone on a paper gasket. Old timers use grease, next time you remove the part, no scraping and gasket can be re used if necessary. An old drag racer hot rod builder taught me that trick a long time ago. Not hating just helping
Thanks, appreciate your opinion! I always use a thin layer of black RTV on stator cover gaskets that I don't expect to remove for a long time. Never have a leak or any issues getting it off in the future. On my old cars I typically use grease, and I agree that works very well too. Thanks for the input!

Perform the stator and voltage regulator troubleshooting steps in the factory service manual to start. One or both has failed. It is usually best to replace as a pair.

Hopefully you are still here and reading comments, I’m a little late. What wire is the yellow with a red tracer? Like what does it connect to? I ask because I have a 2012 YFZ450 that has 1 four pin connector, 1 three pin, and 1 two pin connector in the same area that yours has a 6 pin. I can’t see a yellow/red wire around there either. I’m thinking that if I can find what that wire connects to, I can find out where that wire is on my ATV and it should work the same? Everything else looks the same, except for that one part.
@@donnyalgieri9664 I have not. I am doing lots of work on it, so decided to do the stator later. But from what I can see, the stator in this kit will work with quads like yours and mine(12-13), but the “jumper” or whatever plug they use to send DC instead of AC to the headlights won’t work. But you can make your own of those easily. I will figure this out, hopefully with some help from the maker of this video lol.

After doing my own research I honestly don’t see why it wouldn’t work, I compared part numbers to it and it’s pretty similar, they have a pdf Instruction manual in the description of the product in there website, it tells you how to do it for a 09 and the 12-13 are pretty much the same so you really just have to follow those instructions. I will be buying one for my 2012 and will see how it goes but I believe it will work
Hello I have a 2008 yfz 450 and I was putting in the rm stator I went to the rely #2 and pulled out the yellow and red wire and did what you did and it didn’t start at all it would rollover also it told me the use the blue wire how come you guys do t have a video on that one just wondering

Just installed the stator upgrade. A little while after the starter relay fuse blew. It was a 10A. Do I need to upsize this fuse or May something be wrong? It took a while before the fuse blew.
I just got a 08 yfz450 that has one of your stators installed. The directions it came with are way different then this. ?? It's only charging to 13.6 when running and 12.5 with the lights on when running. Is this correct??
Our video is older and doesn't account for a few changes that have to be made on the 2006 and newer models. They require removing the resistor and a different mod to the wiring harness. Our instructions are correct. Your charging output sounds slightly low. Are you using our regulator and wiring harness conversion as well?
@@Rmstatorinc the previous owner installed it, but incorrectly. i followed the directions that where included. he did not have the resistor disconnected. i also made sure the other connections where correct. i am using your regulator and harness and new stator.

Great video! We have a ‘14 YFZ450R. When the battery dies, you can’t roll start the machine like our ‘04. My understanding is the factory stator don’t have the amperage to run the FI without the help of the battery? Is this the case? If so, do you make a high output stator for the ‘14 that resolves this issue?
I'm not yet familiar with the fuel injected YFZ450's, but that makes sense. Sorry we don't currently have a high output system available for the FI models. Hopefully soon.

The tie wrap is there to secure the stator windings from vibration and rubbing against each other, or the stator core or flywheel. This could cause the insulation to breakdown and a short in the stator. I would leave them in place. However if you remove them just make sure there is no loose windings in that location.

I have an 04. Doesn't have a 6 pin. Has a 3 pin (ignition), and 4 pin (lights). Red with black, red with white, yellow, and blue. Which one do i use for the lights to work?
RMSTATOR my 2004 ufz450 sat for almost 3years without been turn on.I tried to turn ot on a couple of days ago and it wont start or crank nothing just the overheating red light come on evrytime i push the star button any ideas what might be wrong? I change the oil sparkplug the oil filter and nothing no crank nothing any ideas?.

@@muhsinin7415 So I was doing research and looking over there installation diagram and I did find that it will work on a 2012, the harness changed on 07 to 09 I believe but they include that in the revised version, I’m talking about the harness with the relay which is what we have, they include the kit for it and it will work. I did find the exact kit on amazon being sold from another company for the same price but Amazon has a 15% off so I got it from there

@@sheldonnorthrup784 yes. That wire is on one of the relays on left front of chassis. You need to pull it out and connect the black wire to it.

So my atv shows code 46 and will idle but once th clutch is released it stalls out. Can this help it or should I just take it to a shop?

You do need both stator plugs connected for ignition to work correctly on a YFZ450, make sure of that.

Yes, I believe the stator is the same for 2012-2013. However the wiring harness in our kit may not be the same.

Overcharging is usually caused by a failed voltage regulator. Start with replacing the regulator.
Will this fix the not charging problem?

A year late to this but I’m pretty sure the fuse stock is supposed to be 15 amps so at one point someone probably replaced it with the wrong fuse
