Regarding the Grandmother from Mexico and the Giant cock and balls statue. Mexican slang terms used, "Verga" means the male phallus. Phrases used to insult someone as incompetent "No vales Verga" would be translated to "you ain't worth dick". To compliment someone as a badass you'd say in Spanish "eres una verga" or " bien vergas el vato" which would mean "you are a dick"(complementing) and " this guy is a real Dick"(compliment). Weird slang terms, I'm Mexican American, I have my fair share of utilization of this slang. "I have a small penis " would translate to " tengo una verga chikita."

In the U.S., so don't know if it's applicable to the U.K. but I recently took a train trip and they still do the horn frequently. Apparently, at least in my region, it's mandated by law at intersections where road and rail traffic overlap. It's in case the rail barriers are malfunctioning or stuck or whatever. It's another level of safety warning saying "Hey, a train is coming, get off the tracks".
Big Jeff was in a serious house fire a few months ago and is in recovery in hospital. Get well soon Jeff!

17:51: Oh boy, here we go... I'm going to condense the number of things a train driver needs to do down to two to avoid argument: drive train, not kill people. And yes, turns out, if your electric wires which power the train get damaged because they're not designed for heatwaves caused through climate change, your electric sleeper train can't get through. But instead of making passengers survive the night in Glasgow Central, they get their sleep on the train they pay for, just don't go anywhere or get stranded anywhere. Fairly reasonable, except for lack of communication on the obvious lack of movement, and not providing potential alternative travel for those who did need to be in London. And no comment on the cost.
Very true, the WCML closed on the night due to line side fires, buckled tracks and overhead powerlines coming down (the ECML wasn't much better but thats accademic as no path and no TM signed for the route anyway,) the train was due to depart at 23:40, road transport was not available for the volume of passengers / time of night / late notice of closure by NR. Two options, turf everyone off the train after midnight in a closed GLC and let them fend for themselves (hotels for the voume of people were not available, that was checked) or keep them on the train, sleeping and sort them out in the morning. Announcements were not made over the PA as most passengers were asleep, although those still up and using facilities outside their cabins were informed.
The sleep and morning option was the better. On waking, passengers were provided with blanket ticket acceptance on any other TOCs service over the next two days to get them to London free of charge by train and they also given a full refund on the cancelled service.
