The first story seems like a smear job against a man who simply fell in love with a fiction author and got a job in the animal husbandry industry... made me kinda sad.

A few years ago i watched yogscast all the time, and I recenly watched the dont starve series again and then came across their new content like this video! you guys are still as funny as I remember. it was nice watching this it reminded me of when I was younger :)

Id be happy to give a local perspective on the program:
Mountain Goats are from the Rocky Mountains and Cascade Mountains of North America. These mountain ranges are, like the Alps or Himalayas, continental crust uplifted by tectonic activity. The Mountain Goats being removed in this story are from the Olympic Mountains in the Olympic Peninsula of Washington State. These Mountains are a little different. They are Ocean Crust uplifted by tectonic activity. The difference is the rock type. Long story short, ocean crust is entirely volcanic basalt, very uniform in mineral composition, and very lacking in many dietary minerals, including potassium and sodium. This means the plantlife adapted to those environments also are very lacking in those minerals in comparison. Guess what Human pee has in an extreme abundance... sodium and potassium (salts). Goats are from an environment where these minerals can be found in a certain quantity in plantlife and rocks. They where transplanted to the Olympic Peninsula a century ago by people, and that environment does not have the nutrients they need. Human pee does, so they aggressively seek it out from hikers and climbers.
This park is in a relatively small mountain range. Its not the size of the Alps. The goats are often ripping plantlife out of the ground and eating them if they have been peed on. So Its devegitating the local environment. They are also aggressively eating any plantlife that does concentrate the salts they crave. It is having a degenerative effect on the local flora. Again; they are not native. They where brought there about 100 years ago by people.
Their removal is basically supported by everyone. They are a major environmental hazard, and nuisance. However, the program is controversial due to the method of removal. The Cascade Mountains where they released the goats has a healthy and large population of mountain goats, and a large number of the goats relocated died in transit, at the cost of a lot of money. Instead, the state could have provided a hunting program that brought the state revenue and still removed the goats. The airlifting program was ridiculous.
* That picture of the "most satanic goat I've ever seen" is a pretty typical mountain goat. Our goats are muscly brutal monsters that get to upwards of 300 pounds. I have encountered several dozen black bears, a few grizzly bears (brown bears), cougars (the biggest I've ever encountered was ~220 lbs), wolves, and many Moose. Goats have been the most aggressive wild animals I have ever encountered. I have been followed for a mile with no more than 15 feet (on average, the goat got as close as touching distance occasionally) of space by a 200 Lbs mountain goat just because it was waiting for me to pee. Admittedly, the most aggressive goats Ive ever encountered where all in their native habitat of the Cascade Mountains, not the Olympics. But I'm in the Cascades 20 to 1 compared to the Olympics, so that doesn't mean too much. Mountain goats are aggressive animals in general though. The environmental hazard is the primary reason to remove them from the Olympic Peninsula.

Man, if I was walking Hurricane Ridge and a mountain goat was there looking for my pee that would be game over for me. Though lol at the idea of the US National Parks having billions to spend on anything much less moving mountain goats. Plus, like 35 goats dying is not a substantial majority of the hundreds that were relocated. It isn't a nothing amount but a long way from majority.

Hiking in the US sounds genuinely hundreds of times more dangerous than hiking in Australia, and Americans always bang on about our fauna being dangerous. I’ve never been on a walk and had to worry about being charged after by a fucking 100-kilo ball of bone, muscle, and seething rage. Or a bear, or a fucking mountain lion. Snakes are easy to avoid, and dingoes and roos are mostly pretty shit-scared of humans (it would take a really unfortunate series of events to find yourself in a boxing match, even with a grey). America sounds terrifying
@@SoybeanGravy When i say a goat is aggressive, I don't mean its threatening me. They sometimes get close to me because they want something from me. Goats don't attack people. Theres been only a single recorded instance of a person dying from a goat attack in U.S history.
Bears and Cougars are simply not aggressive to adult people outside of rare circumstances. Most deaths are hunters, people that try to get close to bears, or unsupervised children. They aren't as dangerous as you are making them out to be.
Our animals may sound scary, but you are objectively more likely to die from the drive to the hike than you are from any animal. You are dramatizing our wildlife in the exact same way you're complaining about Americans dramatizing Australias.
It takes a while for Simons pp to get up but once’s it gets going it last for about 30 minutes

Little known note about human urine, it's not sterile! It's called 'liquid waste' for a reason. Not to kink shame, but the only time it's acceptable, health-wise, to drink is when you absolutely have no alternative to help you survive an emergency situation

While on one hand I agree with raging Simon that the fact there are dog restaurants when people are starving is infuriating on the other it's not really the owners fault the world is fucked up. He has a business idea that apparently works well for him, good for him. This is pretty low on my Rage-o-meter compared to the fact all supermarkets throw out tons of food and purposefully ruin it (with salt for example) so no one steals it. THAT is truly fucked up and something we might be able to do something about if politicians actually cared about stuff that helps the starving and homeless...

Scientists think dogs weren't domesticated wolves, they had a common ancestor, but dogs were pack scavengers and opportunistic predators that self domesticated because they loved to eat caveman poops so much. Just gobbled down those brownies so long that they became our friends. Strange stuff.

I once was enjoying a nice hot bath, drinking beer, peeing out the piss beer and drinking it, and it was simply hilarious. It tastes like mildly salty water, and I promise I neither believe in or worship satan. In fact I blame religion for making people terrified of their bodies.
