"could" ? I think a look at the canon of this man's work demonstrates that ( whilst sublime as Poirot) he is not to be judged by Hercule alone... he has also always struck me as incredibly kind.

@Gianmarco Sabato I was thinking more of the full length novels. Black Coffee is a novelisation of a play. I read it but didn't enjoy it.
The BBC has recently been adapting some of the non Poirot or Miss Marple novels into TV specials. Unfortunately they have tried to make them into something that Christie never intended. She did not write serious commentary about society. I feel she always introduced some humour into her books but the BBC completely omitted that element.

For those who say they’d like to see David Suchet in a Poirot film, I would suggest that we’ve had that in full measure. In almost all the late episodes, there were all the cinematic ingredients in evidence. Just because it doesn’t say “Poirot, the Movie!” doesn’t mean it wasn’t done. Great acting from one & all, superb filming, montage etc techniques used to express plot & subplots. Superb building of characters, motivations, expressions of real feelings by real people. The scripts are works of art in themselves. Faithfulness to the period was ubiquitous. See Five Little Pigs, Sad Cypress, The Blue Train, Death on the Nile, Lord Edgware Dies, Peril at End House & several others. All full-fledged films. Let’s try to be satisfied w all the greatness Suchet & Co. gave us. I applaud every word, every minute, every plot & character of those fine films. The curtain has come down on David Suchet’s enormous achievement but, as w all good films, we can watch them over & over again. And what’s more, we want to.

I'm currently reading a book, called "Black Coffe". I've watched almost every episode of Poirot. I've missed about...2 or 3 episodes. I like meeting people who like Hercule Poirot! I love how the person who is always quilty is the one you least expect, and how it's hard to figure out who was quilty, before Poirot points it out himself. Those types of movies are what people call quality movies. I think Miss Lemon and Chief inspector are...I cannot say act dumb, not in a bad way,...but..they are rather really silly. I personnaly am a GIANT fan of Hercule Poirot, and the last episode had me shook, with it's stunning ending.

Gianmarco Sabato: Wow, ok. Let me start by addressing your small mindedness. In trying to attack me, you missed the main point of my comment, which was that David Suchet deserves to be recognized by the British Crown for his excellence, fierce dedication and persistence of vision that he has given to his character adaptation of Poirot by being Knighted by the Queen. Please review my original comment again.
Now to the point of your attack. This story is told by Agatha Christies grandson (Mathew Prichard, an authority on all things Christie to be sure). Years before Hickson was approached to play Miss. Marple, she was seen in a play by Dame Christie. Until that time, Christie had been unhappy with others who had played the role, feeling that they did not understand nor bring the vision of her character to life. But in Hickson, Dame Christie, 40 years before she was to play her, recognized Jane Marple IN Joan Hickson. To that extent, she wrote a letter to the actress, stating: "I hope one day you will play my dear Miss. Marple.". As we know, Joan Hickson did finally accept the role envisioned by Dame Christie and brought the author's beloved character to life. 'Nemesis' was actualized, and born into the role her creator had foreseen nearly a half of a century earlier. Perhaps in the future, before baselessly attacking a comment, you may want to choose more polite wording to express your opinion, or research what others may have thought of Joan Hickson as Aunt Jane. You will look less foolish.

The later movies in the Suchet series strayed farther from the books than I thought necessary, but it was a portrayal and not a slavish copy of the books. They were also TV adaptations and portraits which brought the directors'/actors' prejudices and views to the series. Were liberties taken? Yes, but in service to an entertaining story.
