Hi, I have a Dodge Charger 2008 SXT
My car had the same Red Lightning Bolt whenever I would be at a red light. The bolt would appear and my car would go idle, so then I would have to turn it off and back on again to get it to work again. I read all the possible problems such as the Throttle Body, O2 sensors, PCM/ECU, blah blah blah. I ended up getting a new Throttle Body and the problem was still happening. So, I took my Charger to a mechanic who said it was my PCM/ECU acting up and that it would cost me about $900 to fix it. Now look here, I'm just a 20 y/o college student I don't have the type of money for that. I kept looking for possible solutions and I ended up coming across a comment on CZcams that said before you start changing the throttle body, PCM/ECU, etc. make sure to check your EGV Valve and see if your gasket is not damaged or missing.
I took a look at it and there was the problem the whole time. There was no gasket on my EGR Valve at all. I went to AutoZone and bought a EGR Valve Gasket ( the blue one, cost me about 3-5 dollars) and put it on my valve. After that, my car hasn't gone idle at a red light or stop sign since. Before you start changing all of your parts and taking it to mechanics, check your EGR Valve Gasket. Hope it works! 😄

this is what I'm getting ready to try also, my only worry is that when I wrap my hand around the egr valve tube hole where the gasket will go to seal it, it starts running even rougher

Im having the same problem on my 2013 Chrysler 200. From my research the ETC ,has plastic gears ,like 4 of them ,that control the spring loaded flap. Theres alot of tension on the flap, putting alot of pressure for fhe PLASTIC gears to work. Over time ,heat ,the elements ,wear the gears become wore, chipped or even missing teeth. This is why sometimes the car will run, other times if its at the wore teeth part,it runs rough n the light comes on. Best advice is replace the ETC, with a new one. May have to take to shop to get it relearned after installation, with a proper computer tool. Good luck everyone. Btw you may drive the vehicle awhile, before it gets bad fix it BEFORE it breaks completely, in the middle of nowhere

Clean MAFS, throttle body and intake manifold control valve. Change spark plugs and coil over packs. Replace fuel filter and fuel sending units (driver and passenger side - under back seat). Run can of SeaFoam through full tank of premium gas to clean all sensors. Car will run like new.

Today, I returned to my 2014 dodge charger after being at the gym for less than 1/2 an hour. I think I may have hit the ignition button and maybe had the auxillary on when I went inside. When I came back I got that flashing red lightning bolt and my car wouldn't start, and my display started flickering and dying as well as my headlights. I had to Uber back home just a couple miles and leave my car there because it was getting late and super cold, like freezing. Could it just be the battery that got too low with the auxillary on? My uber driver said an old battery will kick the bucket when it starts getting cold.

I have the same exact issues with the throttle light and the check engine light coming on with the same accelerating issues except now it has high rpm but absolutely no throttle what could it be? Throttle body, computer itself, or the acceleration pedal need replaced or What can I do to fix it.?

Good info. What r u located. My 06 charger. Start doing something similar but All the light turn on. And also. Trans. Start having problems. So mechanic changed. The pcm. Also. Dis the heads job still having that problem. After drive the car about 20_30 min

hey duel (i think thats ur name sorry if wrong) I have a MB 906 its 2007 and 2.17cc engine. I have an OBDII error code P1955 I can't find any threads about it online and there are no DTCs that relate. Do you have any experience with this code? I have been chasing it for months now with multiple visits to various mechanics and diesel specialists with no luck. I'm about to pull the throttle body off to check that but I'm really not sure if that's even the right place to be checking. Any help or best way to troubleshoot would be a great help.

My 2008 Jeep wrangler JK Unlimited has the Red Lightening Bolt. I have so far replaced Throttle Body, Accelerator Pedal and Camshaft position sensor. The red lightening bolt hasn't gone and my Jeep has no acceleration.

Just replaced map sensor and vapor canister purge valve on my 2010 Dodge Charger. After these were installed the throttle body light came on with the traction control light and engine light.

Thanks will do we checked the new map sensor and the hole was bigger than the original one.. put the old map sensor back and the car runs way better.. the check engine light and the others are no longer on. I will be replacing the map sensor with the correct one even though eBay mentioned this one as a fit.

I had that same light come on on my 13 dodge charger rt 5.7 all I did was cut the car off then put it in run position without turning the car on press the gas pedal down fully to the floor let up on the gas pedal very slowly then restart the car not saying it works for all but it worked for my charger

Maybe I misunderstood but how did you determine it was the throttle body and not the pedal sensor?
Leon Perez I checked the pendal sensor off camera, and it was good no drop out or glitches on the signal from the pedal sensor... but the signal coming from the the TPS had a lot of drop out and glitches, indicating a bad TPS
and also make sure you don't have a vacuum leak around the intake
will driving with this problem cause more issues if not taken care of quickly? what’s an estimated cost if i took this in to get it fixed?

My 2010 charger sxt with 3.5 was doing the exact same thing with the esp/bas light on as well as throttle control light. I changed my throttle body and still have same issue. Is this because I didn't calibrate ?
Richard Vaught yes it could be because of calibration but if the light stays on after calibration, you should check for vacuum leaks, I have seen an intake vacuum leak cause the same problem, I'm assuming your wiring for the throttle is good

It runs good until the lights appear then the idle goes up and has no throttle response.. Im starting to think I got a bad throttle body? I have bought another new one but haven't installed it yet. Mines comes on sometimes and sometimes it dont, but when it comes on, my temperature gauge drops to cold, already changed the temperature sensor thermostat, water pump.

I am driving a 2010 Dodge Charger SXT and I am having the same exact issue. I turn the car off and back on again and the light will stay off for 1 day before it comes back on again (always flashing and with the traction light). So far, I have cleaned the throttle body, replaced the spark plugs, replaced the intake manifolds and the "ignition coils" and still...... I am going to have my mechanic check the sensors next b/c I am struggling with getting this fixed. Its been about 1 month since this issue began for me.

David Holmes a Vacuum leak can also cause that throttle light to come on, so make sure you don't have a leak around the intake, I gave 3 different options of what could be wrong in the video, did you investigate all of them
Did it fix it i have the 3.5 2010 an having the same out come wasnt nothing on an ran perfect had my radiator changed to 3 row am it been stuck with burn out light on an the red demon lighting bolt any advice where to start loolong
There is also a small blue little donut gasket on the egr valve tube that gose into the back of the air intake and if its bad or loose this will set the lighting both light off to .
When I had a throttle body issue a few years ago, my traction control light came on.

jessica morales I don't know how to calibrate it without a scanner, I don't think it's possible, you can take it a shop to have the throttle body calibrated after you replace it... also make sure you don't have a vacuum leak on the intake manifold before you replace the throttle... Good Luck!!!

Turn key to on position...not start but on where all lights on dash light up but engine is not running...next slowly...very slowly depress the gas pedal....after depressing all the way down...slowly let the pedal back up...very slowly again....turn key to off position...start engine...let car idle for 10 mins with no accessories on....next...turn ac and can on high for 10 minutes....drive car....should reset throttle

The same codes came on my car I took it to the shop they charged me 500 dollars for a new fuel pump and and something else where I got my car back the check engine light was still on when I ask they said they forgot to rest it now a month later the check engine light came on again and the electrical signal. Also my car has completely stopped on me in the middle of the road and on the freeway

I am having this issue with my 2010 Charger as well. I changed the spark plugs, cleaned the throttle body, and changed the intake manifold and ignition coil, and the light came on 10 minutes after I picked it up from the shop
I have the same car same problem. Took a week and several techs, and it turned out to be the EGR valve. They also cleaned the flaps as a just in case and replaced the manifold gasket

Ambient sensor light won't go off even after replacement, already changed the gaskets as well

ad mckee it's easier with a scan tool but you can do it manually also. the manual procedure is mentioned in one of the commens of this video!!

My 2006 Dodge Charger does this but when restarting car the car turns off and will run better until it pops up again. Every time I restart car it resets it. What could this be
Eric K make sure you don't have a vacuum leak on the intake or you have a defective throttle body but check the wiring first before you condemn the throttle body...
I have same vehicle I change the throttle body and sensors on it changed wiring and sure enough I did find a very small small trans leak in my trans cooler hose

Jaloud A.R it sounds like you have a vacuum leak, the high idle speed is the giveaway, check for vacuum leaks, especially around the EGR Tube seal!

Grant Howard ABS Codes should not cause the lighting Bolt to come on, you might have some codes too!

@@KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair I did I've replaced the fuel injectors and the coil packs spark plugs and seen three hoses that have crack but doesn't seem to be causing a leak theres a sensor on the top intake when u unplug it while its running doesn't bog down or anything and the one on the rubber right after the throttle body when u unhook it it doesn't do anything either and the car drives great until u park in and about 3 minutes go by it starts doing what this car is doing
