My virago 535 is running really rich.
Any advice
These are for the idle jet, i think the main jet adjustment is elsewhere ?
Are these fuel air or fuel pilot adjusting screws? I’m guessing they are on the fuel side so I will back them out a tad to get a little more fuel since I am running lean.
There are no adjustment screws on mine or plugs. Just aluminum casing. Any advice
I literally have to hard back manual that comes with the bike. It says to take it to the dealer for the (Idle fuel/ air mixture adjustment). This is because of emission regulations, so they were made to put the plug in I think. You can take mine out normally though, but the point is... even the book won't tell you how to adjust it.

I really wish this video actually did describe "How to Adjust Pilot/Fuel Screw on Motorcycle - Yamaha Virago 535!" Mine are already drilled out. but I'm very new to motorcycle maintenance, and I can't find any information on how to adjust these so they idle right. Also, should one adjust them in a certain order? Mine is a 1996 XV 535... Anyone have any advice or links? Thanks!
Hey man, three years later and there's still no guide on these carbs. Did you find the definitive guide on adjusting these specific carbs?
I've just replaced my exhaust on my 2002 yamaha xv 535, there was a lot of popping on deceleration with the old exhaust, which was knackered, I have installed a full system off Black Widow , and there is some, not a lot of popping on deceleration, I don't know if it's the fuel mixture, or something else, how can I adjust the mixture to see if it helps, the new exhaust has fitted perfectly , all that remains now is the popping. regards John
The rear spark plug looks like it's fine, the front spark plug is a bit on the dark side, don't know if that helps.
Did you end up figuring it out?
I had the same issue .. popping and banging on de cell.. I ended up winding those idler jet screws all the way in and it mostly stopped popping and banging and feels faster .. but the issue is a corroded idler jet … corrosion has caused the inner whole to be larger and therefore more fuel is being dumped then ignited in the exhaust . So I screwed that adjuster litrally all the way in on both carb till it stopped dead . Now it only pops like once in a while .. ideally I need to rebuild the carb with new jets
Hi Brother. I have 94 Virago 535. It starts first time every time. But when I open the choke in cold days the bike stops. It works fine on idle. Only it stops if I use the choke. Also When I ride, I press the clutch lever to change gear, If I keep pressing too long time on the clutch lever (Running like on neutral) the bike sometimes stops. Is there any problem with my bike?
Cinar Gey you only use the choke to get the bike started
Hey man, I have a yamaha virago 535 and I took the carb off this winter to clean it, and now that I've put it back on the bike won't start. Do you know what the problem could be? It sounds like it want's to start but it doesn't get, the engine doesn't get that deep rumble when it kicks in, you now? It just sounds like it's trying really hard. Did I put a screw on too tight in there?
r u getting spark? There r no adjustment screws on the inside of the carburetor so u should be good there. Spray some starter fluid in the air filter side of the carburetor and if it fires then u have a fuel problem and if it doesn't then it is probably spark.
what kinda fuel problem could it be? and how do I check for spark? I don't know where the spark plugs are, my first bike and first time trying to fix it
Thanks for the response
There r 2 spark plugs total one located under a chrome cap on the top of the each cylinder head.

Here is a good video on checking for spark czcams.com/video/5j05y5squhw/video.html
Ohh I was wondering why I couldn't find the spark plug.. there's cylinder head caps you gotta remove first. As I said, first bike
Thanks a lot for the help. I found the spark plugs and tested them. Two beautiful blue sparks, workin really well.. So there must be a problem with the fuel. I must have screwed up the carb when I was trying to clean it. I notice that the O ring is sticking out of the bottom boot that connects the carb to the engine. Could that be it? Like, when I was squeezing the black boot thing on the O ring must have slipped half out. Is that what might be screwing up the bike? I haven't tried the starter fluid thing cause I don't have starter fluid. Is there a special brand or type I should buy? Also: Could the battery be doing it? The water levels dip below the low level on some of them.. not by much, but by a little
I had to cut of bottom part of that hole, to get better access to those screw heads. Didn't helped me either. One is still stuck and his head is completely damaged.
Nevermind
Your videos are helpfully anyway, thanks man
Nowhere in this video did you actually tell us how to adjust the screws. You simply told us the location 🤦♂️
No... NO!
