  • Carburetor needs periodic maintenance. In this video I opened up the float chamber of the motorcycle carburetor and cleaned the float bowl.
I have also replaced the fuel valve (float valve) and the intake manifold. Float chamber actually can be opened up without removing the fuel tank and carburetor. Periodic maintenance can actually be done quite easily if the float bowl is the only area to inspect.

Great video, I got re jet my carb on my 125cc as silver tail exhaust fitted when I got the bike and it’s struggling to get to 40-50mph, I did fit a K&n air filter which really helped so I believe it’s not getting enough air. Thank you for your video

hello ! i have a question to ask. i cleaned the carburetor and install it on my bike but it won't last 2 days because the front side of the engine's spark plug is wet with gasoline. what do i need to change on carburetor to get it run fine ? (my bike problem is it started on single cyclinder , the front cycline won't work)

Do you know what that part is below the choke cable and to the left of the throttle?
    That little brass nozzle?
    Mine just broke.

Hi, I'm having troubles with my Yamaha xvs 125 Dragstar Carburetor. Need him to replace. By the research Virago and dragstar supposed to have same carburetor ( Mikuni BDS 26 ) but this original one is not anymore on the market. There are some options to buy some other replacements but in all cases it says it only fit to the virago 125/250. So now I'm not sure If I can try to use this one or rather not. Original bds 26 comes with some sort of cable with 3 pin slot that supposed to be connected with the bike but there new replacements does'nt have it. Would that be a problem? Thanks a lot for any advice

It’s next to the throttle cable behind the fuel pump.

Many thanks for the video from Germany. My Virago is an XV 125 5AJ from 1998
Now i have to change the carburetor complete.
I got a complete new one for about 65 €uros / Dollars. So its easier to change and i dont have to repair it or change expensive parts.
But ithe new one is the carburetor for the XV 250 (main jet is the difference said the seller.)
Is it right that i only have to change the main jet and everything is fine. Ok set the idle speed is one point i have to do at first after restarting the bike.
Is there something else to consider? Is it only the main jet that i have to change?
Iam not a mechanic thats the problem.

I am not 100% positive, but I believe the carburetor components are all the same excepts for the jets between XV125 & XV250.
Check this link and compare it to the jets you have. It's for 1998 XV125.

Use pine sol mix 50/50 with water it's a much better cleaner and far less toxic
