Apparently saying something is "full of water" is a Chinese way of saying something has been scammed or corrupt/graft. It doesn't literally mean that they're full of water just that the system is corrupt and lots of bribery etc.
This is the correct interpretation, it has nothing to do with actually using water.
Full of water just like the chinese missiles
Wonder if we intentionally know that and use the phrase for spin, or if we think it's actually like that, or if they actually are, or if they're just empty of fuel instead of full of water?
Either way, not literally being full of water, but being skimmed on, is probably not good
Water is just burnt fuel.
The democratic system in the west is far more corrupted than the socialist system in China & one could see the inefficiencies of that Democratic system in the U.S. as a prime example of the systematic failures of capitalism in creating wealth for the 1% of the privileged few at the expense of the other 99% of its population. The throng of homelessness & mass shootings in schools & malls are another symptomatic decaying of a society being persistently neglected by its leadership. ! It would be difficult to find the problems of homelessness or mass shootings in China as opposed to that situation in the U.S. ! The massive lobbying & kickbacks in the U.S. Congress is another hallmark of corruption being openly committed.

look, Imma be honest. I don't believe one single word of this. China filled its missiles with water in a country where you have to ask the government if you want to move to another part of the country? good luck with that.
That does mean that any of this is not true.
â@carlflaherty2215 unlike Russia, I don't have much hard data on China's military.
However; the chance that they could build, operate and maintain a sophisticated fighting force, including all of the infrastructure needed to support it, from scratch over a short period of time, and building from a base of corruption and wide spread theft is highly unlikely.
What's more likely is that they have assembled a lot of components that kind of work on their own, but don't really integrate.
â@@Zomby_Woof what's even more likely is that the land of counterfeit rice, sponge concrete apartment buildings sewer oil, and fake baby formula is rife with counterfeit parts in their military equipment. With the rest of their force morale to match
Err no. You want everyone to believe that you have competent and modern military, so that you can project power and demands without actually using said military, like how CCP is constantly whining about "the last red lines" every time US does anything with Taiwan.
Not to mention China is an extreme face culture, aka to appear weak is a political suicide, quite literally hen it comes to CCP's internal power struggles. Not to mention considering how low morale is within PLA it would be a disaster to try pull a "appear weak, then do a surprise attack".
The Chinese aren't stupid- they know what will happen if they do and will quickly regret it.
The problem is that if no one is willing to tell the leadership the true state of affairs, so the leadership will make terrible decisions. Xi has basically removed everyone that will say no to his orders, question his orders, or bring him bad news (i.e. any truth).
It's a misnomer to say they are the world's largest Army. It only looks that way because everything is under one umbrella. When the USAAF, split into the USAF, it made the Army smaller. When the USSF split from the USAF, it made the USAF smaller, but the numbers didn't change. It's like when they say the PLAN is the biggest Navy in the world when they count the tug boats as combat vessels. If you think about it like that it would actually make the US Army the second largest Navy since they have more cargo and transport ships than the Navy has combat ships. So, you have to put it into context.
Yes, I've always found it amusing that the army has more ships than the navy and the navy has more aircraft than the airforce.
Our Coast Guard could crush most countries navies.
@@Zomby_Woof- When they upgrade their latest frigates (cutters)âŠyes. They are fitted for, now with, a ton of kit. đ

...a number of these "disappearances" are likely related to people being viewed as a political threat to the leader for life.
Not president xi jinxspinx.
But dictator xi jingping.
I mean, one could say the same about Russia, considering the situation around the elections.
Not that America is much better, oligarchies resemble Apartheid in objective eyes. Am I saying it's as bad as apartheid? Well, has the national guard fought worker strikes before, has the government distributed drugs in minority population centers, and has almost all of political elections been dominated by only 2 parties with 80 years of establishment? ijs
Um, the liquid propellant isn't loaded until just prior to launch. So even IF the propellant had been replaced by water, it wouldn't have yet been loaded and could pretty quickly be replaced once discovered, which it apparently has. Btw, tactical and cruise missiles typically use soild fuel propellant. I wouldn't diminish the CCP's capabilities just yet. NEVER under estimate your adversaries' abilities and resources!
True. Also the phrase "filled with water" is not literal, in China it implies artificially inflated or made to look better than it really is. Meat is sometimes injected with water to make it heavier when sold.
The PLA [Chinese army] is considered the most corrupt in the world . This is due to cultural obligation in China of paying for favours ,[ Common with public servants supplying favours to property developers for extra density and approvals ] this is rampant through out the Chinese system. ,
The system in the PLA [ Chinese army ] involves paying for rank to move up the ladder . or the other method involves having an influential friend or relative in the communist party .
So how blatant is this you may ask? Xi Jinping's wife the PLA dancer and singer with no military experience , holds the rank of Major General in the Army . So it is very platent and starts right at the top .

Exactly what is hard to know.
HOWEVER --- to say "Invasion of Taiwan Just Became Impossible" is a bit of a stretch, IMO.
Less likely?? Maybe.
BUT -- not impossible.
An invasion only requires one thing ---
Xi Jinping saying "Do it".
It would also most definitely require the approval of the United States, too. Which China would not get.

â@@michaelj.beglinjr.2804I don't really see China waiting for anyone's approval on just about anything.
Taiwan's defenses are no joke. They train and take it seriously.
And aside from the US, they have other allies both formal and informal.
S Korea could send a good chunk of troops without at all compromising their security.
Japan is getting back into the combat game, and they have the heavy industry and infrastructure that can and has fielded operated and maintained a large and aggressive navy.
China's 'allies' are grudging at best, and many would turn on China elwithout hesitation should an opportunity present itself.
@@Zomby_Woof Not to mention the bad will generated from the 9 dash line shenanigans. Time will tell, but it seems like the PRC is making unnecessary enemies.
Nuclear weapons are complex & expensive to build. They're _also_ just as expensive and complex to maintain.
If China is unable to *complete* a partially built secondhand aircraft carrier or keep *actual* rocket fuel in their missiles, those warheads are nothing more than radioactive fizzle piles. They may have numerous airborne & submersible drones but their reliability (or lack thereof) is _why_ they have so many standing by.
Tell that to the US department of âdefenceâ. They have been eagerly trying to pick a fight with China for the last twenty years.
@@tkw3864 tell that to China! Who trying to prevent Taiwan from self defending and respecting their government! Look at Hong Kong, their economy turn to shit!
Having a successful Invasion and starting a War are entirely different scenarios. Taiwan is extremely formidable on its own. But since the World stands with Taiwan they're NOT alone and China understands that. While the invasion can fail and may have no chance for success that doesn't mean they won't try...take Russia as the example given.

The purges are the result--CAN be the result--of only two things. China wanted to invade Taiwan and can't because military corruption has crippled their ability or China wants to invade Taiwan and all these senior military officers are warning that China's military is not ready for such a conflict.
It's not even so much that Taiwan is make or break for the CCP. Taking Taiwan is important mostly for the larger geo-political implications that it would have: namely the end of US supremacy in the region and the establishment of powerful Chinese hegemony. So, the question is simple: is China gearing up for a fight but it's generals don't believe they can win? Or did China want a fight but it's generals left her in a position that she knows she can't win.
Is the purge meant to unify? Or punish?
I share a similar conclusion: you purge only those you disagree with. Either their corruption hampers the PRC ambitions, or their political views run contrary to the will of Xi: either they opposed Xi's will to go to Taiwan (as he need something to quell some internal issues related to their economy) or they were hawks pushing for the invasion despite Xi not commited to it (but forcing the party to act like it). Alternatively it could be that those purged officers were planning a coup... Who knows? The only conclusions we can come up with is that there was a disagreement between those officers and Xi and Xi won.
There have been rumours the PLA has flat out refused to invade.
In addition, the resistance of Ukraine has made the CCP think twice about how difficult it would be to invade. Taiwan has very significant geographical advantages.
Furthermore, there is the very real issue of the famous chip factories on Taiwan. All this before we consider what the Americans will do.
@@markbest6949 The point is that "what the Americans will do" is no serious consideration at all

Iâm tbh it scares me more if they are using water
Not wise to underestimate China, but at same time a large surface fleet of generally lighter ships and smaller submarines overreliant on land based air and land based missiles, is an unweildy tool.
Of course, if China was aggressive and willing to risk these ships and incur severe damage, it would not be a paper tiger simply because the US has defunded its navy and deliberately shrunk its defense base for 30 years.
If however the PLAN emulates German and Italian doctrine from the last century and opts for a fleet in being strategy, that navy will end up a smashed and twisted mass of wreckage as the air and missile umbrella at first underperform and are then worn down and destroyed.
China has to utilize it for early victory, because its long term manufacturing capacity will be crippled when oil is cut off and industry collapses (sealanes cut, pipelines hit by missile strikes).
America by contrast, in a protracted war, will simple print a few trillion dollars, raise taxes and trim social spending, utilize defense production act and selective service, unleash oil production, and after six months of painful fits and starts, would be on way to full war footing.

Okay, this is not going to be well received, but... Liquid fueled rockets such as those used by Russia and China rely on fuels that CANNOT be pumped into their tanks ahead of time because the fuel is so caustic that will dissolve first the seals, then the walls of the fuel tanks. These tanks can't sit empty because they're too thin-walled to resist warping, flexing, etc. Water, being both stable and non-compressible is a near perfect medium to keep the tanks full without damaging them. At game-time you pump the water out, the fuel in, and bingo.
