I'll definitely be using this guide for my first printer. It's such a valuable guide and easy to understand. Thanks!
For anyone trying to get into the space, or any space, watch as many CZcams videos on the subject as possible. In my experience, the more you acclimate to the information you're receiving, the more comfortable you'll feel. See what information keeps sticking out and let it stick with you. I watched videos for years on building/upgrading computers before I actually went out and did it, which gave me the skillset required to build/upgrade my first computer with no issues, so I highly recommend this method if you have the patience.

Idk how to express how helpful the baby z step portion of this was. I’m using a glass bed that seems to be warped because the corners are even but the middle sits lower. I used baby z step for the entire first layer of a boba fett helmet and it changed the game. Couldn’t get the print started before. Thank you once again for a brilliant tutorial.

What a great video Frank. I wish I seen this when I was starting out. Everything that you said I had to learn on my own or got some help from my Facebook group for creality printers.
I'd like to add when cleaning my bed I wash it with Dawn dish detergent first the ones I wipe it clean then I use the rubbing alcohol at least 90 proof.
As far as using the disabled stepper program I do that every time I level my bed. Then once it's leveled I autohome it. I have never had an issue.
I've only been in this roughly a little over two months and there's other people from our group asking me how I get my print so smooth.
One of the things I must say is a must upgrade from the get-go would have saved me a lot of heartache. Is to switch to a Capricorn Bowden tube from the beginning. I was at a point where I was changing nozzles almost every print and a half. Had major clogging issues until I change that too. Now I can't tell you when the last time I changed the nozzle. Everything's just running so much smoother.
I'll forward this video to our group page for all the new guys that just joined.

This is awesome information! I want to add do NOT clean the Creality carbon and silicone coated black bed with anything other than a little water and a clean cloth. I followed other CZcamsrs using alcohol and window cleaner which is fine for normal glass beds but it destroyed the coating in the middle of my bed in less than a week. Good news is they are not expensive to replace. Also with these beds you have to wait for them to cool down so the print automatically pops off of the bed. The manual had no info about this. Happy printing everyone.

Other than morphed color schemes, the oil allows the filament to have flex/elasticity.

  • @PaganWizard
    @PaganWizard Před 3 lety +1

I have a couple trouble shooting issues on my Ender 5 Plus that I have not been able to resolve. For the most part, my prints are looking pretty good, with the exception of the layers that are completely flat, or parallel to the bed, those layers almost always look slightly burned, but not to the point of getting dark, but there is definitely some discoloration happening. Also, last night I printed a 55 gallon drum that I found on thingiverse. The outside looks good, but not perfect, but the real issues are the floor of the drum (inside) has the issue I just explained, and also, the inside walls have a lot of stringing. That stringing is not to the point of causing any structural issues, but it is very easily noticeable. My bed leveling is almost perfect with my numbers all being 0.0XXX. Bed adhesion is flawless since upgrading to a Wham Bam PEI build surface.

If they at least had the decency to say what they didn’t like, if it was constructive, I’m sure Frank would take it on board. But the ones that dislike always seem to hide behind anonymity. Cowards.

11:22 - Bed leveling on the Ender 3! Yay!

I’ve wanted to get into 3D printing for like 5 years now but it always seemed too expensive to just jump into, but after watching a ton of your channel and a bunch of other videos and doing research I ordered an Ender 3 last night! I chose that one cause it works best for me price wise, and I feel like I would rather learn how to make it better than just dump money on a better one right away. Like I already ordered a metal extruder and the better bowden tube based on your recommendations. I can’t wait to be able to print whatever nerd shit I want 😂

@@The_Ladder_Perspective hi! yes I would, there’s definitely a steep learning curve so do your research before hand but over the last 10 months I’ve printed a lot of stuff and like BIG stuff too, just in pieces. And it was great to learn how everything works on a more bare bones printer, so I could figure out what upgrades to prioritize. Like the first thing I did after a couple days of owning it was order the silent motherboard. And it wasn’t until a couple days later when my prints were all still failing, and being smushed vertically, did I realize I just completely missed a screw when assembling the printer day 1 and it was still in the box. Now, after dealing with a few blowouts of my bowden tube hot end (even though it worked great for months), I’m looking at upgrading to a direct drive. So much of the fun is in the troubleshooting and the customizing, and that’s why it comes down to what you want out of it. Maybe none of that sounded fun to you lol
Bottom line, for the cost as an entry point to 3D printing, it was worth it for me, especially because it made me feel like I could afford a couple rolls of filament to start with and the upgrade parts I already new I wanted from my research. (Also huge tip: don’t bother with the creality brand PLA filament. They had a nice deal for two rolls for like 30$, gave me nothing but problems for anything more complex than a vase, I pretty exclusively use overture pla/pla+ now)

Awesome video, i have a CR10S myself but for some reason i'm missing the 'level corners' option in the prepare menu. I just have the stock firmware running on it that came with it from the factory i guess. I believe it is version 1.1.6. Did you upgrade the firmware to get this option?

Yeah I did. But you can just do it manually like the ender

Great video. How does excruciating work when changing out filament? My printer seems like it’s doing it the whole print. When it pushes back how does the new stuff push back if it’s separate?

It doesn’t. You loose retraction for a layer or 2

Do you need to level the bed before every print or something like every week?
