As someone who has no issue with Carolina reapers this one was horrid, first 5-10 bites were delicious and easy to manage but the numbing and thickness of the broth was killing my ass.

used to go there a lot whenever I had time since I love going to look for old japanese music magazines and stuff inside Broadway but that shop was permanently closed due to covid I guess … it’s really a whole different kind of experience being there than other popular tourist areas. idk, I feel like putting the rice in what is left of the broth might make it easier for me to shovel it down, but really could go either way

I always add plain white rice to leftover spicy broth when it’s too much . Instantly makes it less spicy

I've been here (it's not too far from me) and my recommendation is to get the regular tantanmen - it's good! I was surprised to see this shop pop up in my video recs..

Props to the store owner for making it good, really helping people out and anyone that tries to make it as nice tasting as possible despite the spice must really love their trade. I could never eat something like that, fantastic job guys and especially Joey who like myself is not a fan of spicy food. He said he wouldn't even for the content but he did it the mad lad!

I love really spicy food but a lot of it tastes like garbage. It's not food meant to be eaten it's just food to hurt people. I really appreciate it when it actually tastes good.

I grew my own carolina reapers, and thought I would be able to manage them since Ive eaten lots of habaneros, but man the difference in strength is incomprehensible, as you say in the video people just dont understand how strong it is until they try it themselves 😂

I actually used to go to school in Nakano! Funny story: when my school first opened up a campus in Nakano my friends and I were looking for something to eat after class one night and found this Chinese restaurant. My friends I was with were from Taiwan and Hong Kong and the owner of the restaurant was so happy to have customers who spoke Chinese that he kept bringing us free food and alcohol. We actually ended up giving him way more money than he charged us because we felt bad for how much free food he kept giving us, lol.
That's super cool! I hope they're still open, or at least happy and doing well whatever they're up to now.

For people who haven't experienced super spicy stuff, it really is suffering. I had a table spoon of 400 000 scoville hot sauce by itself, and I think I drank 3 litres of milk interspersed with throwing up afterwards. Shit's intense
I have a hot sauce that's 1mil scoville I use regularly. It's just something you get used to but I ate a lot of spicy food growing up.
I have chips with around 400k but you get used to eating them
It's very different and not really comparible tbh. Something that taste nice will 100% be easier to eat than something that's just pure spiciness. A dish can be so spicy that it ruins the taste of the dish. It makes me lose my appetite.

It's one of them most basic camera techniques you can do since it's pretty simple. It's just zooming in/out while getting closer/further away. It's used in so many movies coz it looks cool and is super disorienting
