When I had a cold, my dear old Mum would put Vicks into a bowl and pour over some hot water. She would put a towel over my head and over the bowl. I am now 75 years old and still use this method.

My Dad knew the greatness of Vick’s Vaporub back in the 70’s. He always said every medicine cabinet should have a jar of Vick’s. All of the menthol (volatile) oils you listed have amazing properties such as, anti microbial, anti bacterial, anti fungal, anti viral (warts), and anti mucus.
When I was 12 my Dad pierced my ears for me. He used an upholstery needle for the correct sized hole and upholstery thread for it’s thickness. He tied the thread off and slathered Vick’s on them and pulling them through to get the Vick’s inside. He told me to wash them with soap n water in the shower thoroughly, dry them off n reapply the Vick’s every day. After 3 weeks he cut the strings out n I wore my first pair of earrings, that he made for me. He was a silversmith/ jeweler.
I have always kept a jar of Vick’s in my home. It really is great for so many things! 💯✨👍🏽

For some unfortunate reason I was born with Pneumonia 1 (as it was called in 1960). And I was always susceptible to getting sick and having strep throat. My Sweet Mamma always rubbed Vicks on and around my throat. And then wrapped a sock around it and I would start feeling better in a day or so. She also would boil Vicks in a pan on the stove. To let that aroma go through our old house and let me tell ya it worked too. Because our sinuses would be clear and it always made me and my 7 siblings feel better. 😊 She was such a smart lady! 🥰 I love and miss her. 😉

I’m sorry if you got confused. Yes it’s still called pneumonia. But in 1960 when I was born. That’s what it was called. At least that’s what my oldest sister told me. I thought it sounded a little odd too. But medical terms for these illnesses changes so quickly it seems. And now you don’t hear about numbers being used with them anymore.

Back in the day people would swallow a dollop of vick to help if they had a bad chest cold, the flu and bad sore throat. I absolutely love it now. I have it in my ourse, my bedroom, kithen. Thank you for your post, just so happens I have some on hand, I used on my son when he was congested, never heard using it for feet fungus, so I got it out and applied it on my toes and feet, I'll tell you if it works, even if it doesn't I going to use this, it's my go to for colds, and now I'm trying it on my feet with my clean socks, I'll hopefully let ya'll if it works. I used to as a kid, my grandma would use it on me for my asthma we'd boil it with water and put a towel over it to help me breath and control my wheezing and after a bit I could deep, it worked then and I'm sure it works now. Again, thank you for this post. I found this very very, useful

You can add a half a cup of bleach to your shower water. Like close the drain, add the bleach so your feet can soak while you shower. At the end of your shower, open your drain so you can rinse your feet. Dry your feet thoroughly. Once completely dry generously add Vicks vapor rub or any non brand to your toes and then your whole foot. CLEAN WHITE SOCKS EVERY NIGHT. You should see improvement in 7 days or even sooner. Spray all of your shoes with 91% alcohol. Be sure your socks are being sterilized when you wash them. If not grab a mop buck or trash can, put a scoop or two of any brand OXI CLEAN let your socks soak for 30 minutes. Then pour the entire mixture in the washer and wash as usual. Dry socks on high! You have to kill other spaces and things that have the fungus on it or have been exposed. The bleach soak should take care of the tub/shower that may have it. But you would need to keep floor rugs clean and sterilized and dry.

They talk about applying Vicks after a shower, twice a day. If you are not going to be around other people, then that is OK. But, if you are, then the smell might be overwhelming, especially if you become overheated. I agree with some of the other Commentors, that Vicks is nowhere near as strong as it once was.

Putting anything other than graphite into a lock or hinge, will, over time cause them to gum up and dry out causing stiffness and squeaking….
