Bro, I'm still amazed to this day that this album came with an entire game to play alongside it!
And that game was a masterpiece
Underrated comment
Yeah!
Doom eternal
The OST was absolutely incredible. The game itself was, hard as it is to believe, better. Lots better.

I remember that was able to access the flipped castle during my 14, and I did it out of curiosity without any lead/information from other parties. I was shocked, overjoyed and proud of my self at the same time time. I never forget such surprise gift from Konami.
Truly a great moment from Gaming that has yet to be topped
And then get brutalized by the enemies that hit like Mack trucks on steroids…my jaw fell open the first time I got nailed by those Nova Skeletons, the green ones that shoot the beam from their crotch in a “COME AT ME BRO” pose.
I still play Castlevania SOTN from time to time. The year is 2023. This game will NEVER die. Evergreen masterpiece.

One of the greatest game soundtracks ever composed.
Crichjo32 only fitting, as it is one of the best video games ever, regardless of genre/platform.
I have never played this game nor have I ever heard this soundtrack (though I had a good friend tell me how good it was back in the PS1 days)
And I am completely blown away!!!!
This is by far one of the greatest video game soundtracks I have EVER listened to!
I am going to find this soundtrack, buy it and listen the heck out of it! And then I am going to find this game and play the heck out of it!!!
Amazing!!!
luckyleo25 The game and soundtrack are absolute masterpieces. As you can hear, the music is beautiful and once you play the game you’ll be hooked if you’re not already.
Yea the soundtrack is a masterpiece!
JABoyle3875 This is one of those extremely rare soundtracks that can somehow produce nostalgia even though I didn’t play the game when I was young. I first played it a couple years ago, but the OST has the same effect as a game from my childhood. One of the best games ever made...maybe the best!
Hard to believe this game’s been out for 25 years now, as of today. A truly timeless classic.
Word. One of the very few games I can replay like every 3 or 4 years without getting bored once.
26 now
Ive been listening to this ost consistently since then!
When I was a child, my parents took me on vacation to this distant port town, where we stayed in a hotel. Funny enough, it was a pretty Castlevania-like town. While there, my mom brought me to a marketplace, and while exploring the location I found this store with video games. I remember seeing the cover of Castlevania SoTN and thinking it was really cool, so I bought it with my allowance, knowing nothing about Castlevania at that time. When we finally got back home and I played SoTN on my PSOne, it was seriously a magical day.
This memory is still so vivid in my mind. I dont know how to describe it, but everything from the pixel graphics to the beautiful and classy OST just completely blew my child mind. I had never experience a game like it before, and to this day I am still in love with SoTN. I played pretty much every other Castlevania in the series since then, but nothing will ever compare to the feeling I had for Symphony when I first experienced it. I truly wish the series hadnt died...
At least it died beloved rather than 'aggressively knocks on wood' being turned into a heartless soulless cash cow being milked for all its worth like other triple A studio franchises not that I don't wish it hadn't died
Have you tried Bloodstained: Ritual of the night? The music is by the same composer. The artwork is by the same artist. The whole game is from the same producer. This is the closest you will get to re-experience Symphony of the night.
Yes I agree, Symphony of the night I am close to, my family literally has Castlevania blood(it runs in the family) Because My dad introduced my mom to it first, long ago. She got into it then, it was shown to us and we got into it. :)
I was a baby(what 4 years old, 5?) when she was playing it in front of me in her bedroom, I remember being so terrified and covering my ears looking away cause my mom was fighting legion, and I was trying to block out everything haha!! Now here I am 27 years old and I still love it, now I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to Castlevania, my little brother knows alot more then i do, hes like an enthusiast to me.
Something about the OST I am just so attached to. I also like Aria of Sorrow as well. So yeah! :)
@@Crylhound I tried....scneario is beautiful and OST is fantastic....
BUT, it lacks the fluent gameplay of SoTN, and the plot is a little "meh"....
Creativity is dying....once I watched a video about what is happening with cinema. In order to produce more and more movies, you need creativity to be as low as possible. So you produce only bad movies, in such a way that even the worst movie will look fine, just because everything else is trash.
Keeping quality is hard, so you nerf everything just to make money easily
Duna 2 is the only movie I'm willing to watch in movies in like 5 years. Same are happening with games.
Let us all just take a moment to appreciate Michiru Yamane for composing this masterpiece

6:31 legendary music in videogame history, I think this is one of them
The key, and chord may be my favorite in music
Man, videogame soundtracks are really an art for itself. Ps1 was really the first platform where developers could unleash their full potential in this regard (as we can obviously hear in the vid). But even before that we had great music. It's astounding what composers created when they only had the limited options of a gameboy.
Fully agree which is why I am glad that these boys czcams.com/video/_fKGYF3WG0w/video.html give the composers the respect they deserve by drawing attention to the brilliance of the music.
Videogames themselves really are.
@@cooldebt This is insane, great channel
Listen to Super Castlevania IV.
I think the snes was the first system that allowed for a composer’s vision to shine.
The PSX had a cdplayer so it could play uncompressed (cd) music.
UMM BRO EVER HEARD OF X-MEN ARCADE WITH SPIDERMAN WITH TIM FOLLINS.
EVERY SONG ON THAT GAME IS HYPE. ITS FROM THE SNES ERA. I AM GOING TO STOP YELLING NOW.
This OST has a bit of everything! Jamming upbeat tracks like Wandering Ghosts, badass epic tracks like Drac’s Castle, church-y organ tunes, creepy underground tracks, and slow/somber ones. Aside from the Final Fantasy series this is my favorite OST ever
You might enjoy this brilliant band - they have covered a lot of VGM: czcams.com/video/_fKGYF3WG0w/video.html
When the prologue shreds that hard, you know you are in for a hell of a soundtrack.
I remember playing Castlevania 2 on the NES as a very young child, I couldn't understand it because I couldn't read at the time. I have very distant memories of that game. When I was a teen, the GBA was in full swing, and my favorite Castlevania ever, Circle of the Moon came out. I loved it to death, and a lot of tracks were borrowed from this game. Then, I discovered this gem and played the port on PSP. I never had a PlayStation, so playing it on the PSP for the first time was pure delight.
I wish Castlevania went back to it's roots, there's still a market for this type of game. I love the Metroidvania style, and the traditional the same.
Have you played Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night?
You know you love a game when you start hearing game noises as the music plays.
This game never gets old.
Its old, it just ages very well.
Joan Sebastian gaitan nieto yeah, you are right, the game aged well, but the soundtrack is FOREVER.
Still playing it.

Dracula: ...Hmph. Tell me. What... What were Lisa's last words?

Good memories listening to my brother and father playing on the PS1. Yes, I do say listening as I have been blind pretty much since birth. This game definitely woke up my apetite for video game soundtracks. Of course there were quite a few others, and yet, if I live long enough to experience a future in which I get my sight back and learn to use it properly, I swear this is the first game I will play from that period onwards.

I know I'm probably the only one who thinks this, but I actually find some older games more appealing to look at than most modern games, for example games like Yoshi's island, Donkey Kong Country, Megaman X, Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past, Sonic The Hedgehog 2, Thunder Force 4, Pop n' Twinbee, Castlevania: Symphony Of The Night, Actraiser 2 etc. I know their graphics are "technically" inferior but I just find them so much nicer to look at then modern games that all try too hard to be realistic and gritty and brown.
You're looking at the wrong modern games then. There are plenty of newer games that don't rely on gritty and brown colors. Come on.
Try some PC indie games.
Its not the graphics that you are missing but the gameplay. Average games have gotten worse over the years and really great games are more rare nowadays.

I fall asleep to this music every night. I love the slow and gentle melodies. Thank you for helping me sleep peacefully.
"Listen to them... Children of the Night. What music they make!" ~Bela Lagosi as Count Dracula, Dracula (1931)
u gotta love the soundtracks for this game, its the BEST!!!
It really is not only the soundtrack but the best Castlevania game I've ever played.
Alucardeth
For like 14 years, this was my favorite game of all time.
Circle of the Moon & SOTN
+evilherodiamondcat
What's your new favorite game? Castlevania SotN and Dark Souls are both my favorite games of all time.
Tommy Daidaiiro
Persona 4 Golden. I know it shares few similarities with Castlevania SoTN, but it had everything I wanted in a video game.
Also, I tend not to enjoy hack 'n slash games. Castlevania SoTN was one of the few I did enjoy.
"Dracula's Castle" and "Clocktower" hands down. Fantastic music that amped me up playing this years ago.
The infrastructure of the music vs the game is an adventure in itself. This will never go out of style. Simply awesome! I play numerous pieces on the pipe organ.
I’d just like to recognize that it’s pretty cool that a game that’s been out damn near 30 years has close to 2 million hits on this amazing soundtrack. This game was a life enhancing experience for me, and I suspect it was for a lot of you as well.
At 16:50 is my favorite track, love the piano sounding a phenomenal feel to it this is what really gives that castlevania castle music vibe to it
library
I hope you enjoy Castlevania music as much as you did 10 years ago! It’s probably not a piano but a harpsichord (grandpa of piano)
One of the best platformer / metroidvania games, if not THE best. The music added to it and made it an amazing, memorable phenomenon.
Yeah it's the best right after Super Metroid.
creekandseminole right BEFORE super Metroid . Fixed that for you buddy .
Hmm Hollow Knight is a strong rival.
The Best.
2023 and still here!!! Would love to watch the song from the library orchestrated LIVE would pay a $100 to see it
This games so gnarly .. I remember playing it over and over again at a young age , so many nights eating breakfast for dinner like a true badass playing only the ps1 and discovering castlevanias secrets .. games aren’t like they used to be !
Esse jogo é uma verdadeira obra de arte. MELHOR CASTLEVANIA EVER. UP 2022.
sega genesis. vc tem instagram?
Immediately came to this after watching Season 4 on Netflix.
I think we both know what's the next Castlevania Game they are going to adapt. It is fairly obvious after Alucard's gear appeared from SOTN. I wouldn't be surprised if they did Rando of Blood first though since you know, it's the prequel to SOTN (You heard it here first folks! ;D)
@@wadewilson899 They probably won't. Dracula has no reason to attack humanity any longer.
@@Metalora If that were true then all of the games after Dracula's Curse is futile. Which would be deleting practically everything. And they aren't going to do that at all. It is either Rondo of Blood (The first part of SOTN) or Curse of Darkness. If they don't do the SOTN route because that would be technically ending the Belmont's leading role against Dracula then it would be Curse of Darkness or Simon's Quest.
I approve of this fetish.

Michiru Yamane ist the Castlevania GOAT!
Symphony of the Night's OST holds a special place in my heart for its value and charm.
I miss games like this. I hate where the gaming industry has gone.
These kind of games have been making quite the comeback lately thanks to the rise of indie devs.
True. Indie games are the best! That and Nintendo games. Yeah, I said it.
Imagine a Super Metroid ''reboot'' ! and by reboot, I mean likw prety much the same game but with extensions of areas, new objectivea, multiple choices (get infected, remain pure) and multiple endings... hell just think about the possibilities.
The same applies to SotN and all other RPG plateformers :)
Peaceful Machete Like Metroid Zero Mission?
LOL @ "I miss games like this. i hate where the gaming industry has gone."
I posted that at the clip where the dude finished the game in a hour yesterday lol
I just want to say: Thank you Michiru Yamane. One of best soundtrack games ever
34:17 My first time playing, entering to the Olrox's Quarters with this beautiful theme was a pleasure
The Prayer theme is simply magical!!
DAHK METAMUPHATHITH
lol
HAHAHA!!!
LOL i almost die
😂😂😂😂
Salt Still
Even though i've only played this game about a year ago, I have lots of nostalgia already
I Am the Wind is the best reward I have ever gotten for beating a game.
that song is actually based off the composers own fards
ive played this game twice without knowing the second castle and last time i played it fully was like 4 years ago. I think its time to play it again
go for 200.6% completion. Anything less means you missed something. :) Good luck.
@@jenovaprodigal 200.6? u can go to 250 more going under castle and outside
I'm interested in this.
He he! Thank you!

F4ck Yeah !!
Dance of Illusions, Dracula's Castle, Dance of Gold, Lost Painting, and The Tragic Prince are all confirmed for SMASH ULTIMATE!!!! So excited!
So, so good.
i've never heard this ost before and the minute the second track started i was like WHOAAAAAAA
54:37 - Absolutely majestic!
YES! One of the best game soundtracks of all time, if not *the* best!
why ?
@@ismaelmambec7262 Why? que no escuchas esas canciones la composición y la complejidad musical que tienen xD?
If you guys have original Playstation disc, you can pop into a CD player and listen to a hidden track.
You for real . How did you even figure that out
@@omalone1169 Been known for decades. Back in the day we did it with all games and discs to see what if anything was hidden
@@Alamyst2011 He's not wrong - you could legit pop in a PS disc in a CD player and it would play audio.
Defines the word classic, a true masterpiece of gaming. From the musical side, Dance of Pales and Wood Carving Partitia are two of my personal favorites.
this game is a masterpiece and the soundtrack is one of the greatest ever made for a game or movie. what is perfection? symphony of the night. now have at thee!
how anyone can dislike this is far beyond me
Dance of the Pales is gorgeous.
This is awesome ost~
Absolutely amazing video game soundtrack. It's OST's like this that make you wonder why the video game medium isn't more popular than that of movies. Amazing interactivity, amazing soundtrack, (sometimes) story, and they all last longer than any movie.....I'll never get it...THIS is true art. Watching overpaid actors pretend to be someone, while you sit there and yawn, waiting for a plot twist........That's not living. Immerse yourself in a game like Symphony of the Night. THAT'S an experience.
Man 6:31 takes me right back to the good old days
h1tmandude I feel ya
***** I feel you deeply! Your feeling I can feel deeply
leo16mmiv
deep indeed!!! I have very few recollections as a child, however I remember my father buying me this back in November of 97' at a walmart in philadelphia. Epic night that was.
My favourite tracks from this OST:
6. Dracula's Castle (6:31)
8. Marble Gallery (10:16)
10. Nocturne (14:27)
13. Festival of Servants (20:59)
16. Crystal Teardrops (25:17)
20. Lost Painting (32:36)
24. Wandering Ghosts (40:12)
34:17
I remember when the castle was destroyed at the end and Metamorphosis III was playing it brought me to tears. I actually felt sorry for the castle, dracula, alucard and his mom and no one had a real happy ending.
it's one of those soundtracks that improves the game by 100%
