- If you confuse these two little words - affect and effect, then it's time to take a closer look at them! If you understand the logic and remember a couple of basic meanings you won't have any problems!

When you consider all languages as one language, you can learn several languages because the mind releases energy equal to this idea. The human mind is a very big miracle . Just you need the time and working too
Antonia I'll tell you since you're much younger to me I'm 41! And have more experience of English! Affect is when something physically is affected like some person actions due to somebody. And effect is an effect like a phenomena or intangible!
You have no idea how badly native English speakers mess this up and I need to correct their essays and papers. There's a similar issue with lay vs. lie and sit vs. set.
With regards to the two different meanings of "affect" the second is a bit archaic and not used in common speech, like you said. I had never heard of it being used in the sense of feigning an emotion, and it's unlikely you'll hear it in common language either. Occasionally, you'll hear "effect" used as a noun to mean possessions carried with oneself, though I believe this is more in British English.
There's also the expression "to put/go into effect." It is an idiomatic phrase often used a bit formally to mean that a policy or plan has been acted upon. "I put my plan into effect" or "This new bill is go into effect by May 1st."
+Marina McKinley Thank you for the interesting info! ;) And of course you are right, native speakers make mistakes too! :)
+Antonia Romaker - English and Russian online I have seen these words messed up on the national news and other important papers in the U.S. where you would think knowing better would be a job requirement.
+Nerys Ghemor yeah... well, things happen... :)
dear Antonia, in brazilian portuguese it is no problem, because we have similar words in portuguese, I will give you these words; in english" affect", in portuguese "afeta '. In english "effect ' in portuguese "efeito 'both are similar, i think it can be dificcult for other languages, but not to brazilian people. You got so cut wearing glasses!
+Antonio de lima I had no idea, thank you for the info! :) Interesting!
Wonderful! This class did a great effect on my English skills! Thanks so much!
+Martiniano Silva I am very glad to know it! :)
p.s. better 'had a great effect' or 'produced a great effect' ;)
Thanks so much for the tips!
Martiniano Silva no problem ;)

Thank you very much for your reply (my gorgeous teacher)
+Duc Doan Xuan I am glad to be of some use ;) thank you for watching!
Please, I would like to know the difference between (future continuous, future perfect , and future perfect continuous) because they are very confusing
+Nourhan Hamada you are right, they are confusing. I will probably make a video about them.
But actually the typical aspects, I described in the video about Present Continuous, Present Perfect and Present Perfect Continuous are also valid here, so:
Future Continues - we talk about a continuous action, an action in progress. So something will be happening at a particular moment in future.
Future Perfect - we talk about a finished action in future, so something will have finished at a particular moment in future. (I will have read this book by the day after tomorrow)
Future Perfect Continuous - we talk about an action which will have been happening for a period of time in future or will have been going on by a particular moment. (Next year I will have been studying English for 15 years). This tense is used not very often.
please , Antonia .I would like to know the meaning of these idioms ( goose bumbs / staybin touch / have the guts / rain or shine / I am beat / easier saidbthan done / it is about time / keep an eye on / out of the blue / know smth inside out / on the dot )
+Sara Hamada
goose bumps - a prickly feeling related to having bumps on one's skin due to fear, excitement, or cold.
stay in touch - to continue communicating
have the guts - have enough courage to do something
rain or shine - regardless of circumstances
I am beat - I am bery tired
easier said than done - when you talk about it, it seems easy, but when you start doing it you realise it is hard
it is about time - the time has come to do it, you'd better do it now
keep an eye on - to watch closely or carefully
out of the blue - unexpected, out of nowhere
know smth inside out - know something very well
on the dot - at exactly the arranged time
In my company we said, how we creating (impact or effect) to the customers.
just making sure it is a synonym and we chose either because we prefer one
+Oviek Wernicke 'Impact' is close to 'effect', you are right ;) but it is also used most commonly with 'on' ;)
So creating on impact, that right? thanks my dear friend, have a pleasant day :)
+Oviek Wernicke 'create an impact on something' ;) but better 'make an impact on something' :)
Oh I see, thanks for the choice and correct my grammar :)
+Oviek Wernicke no problem ;)
A LOT of native speakers of english get this one mixed up, probably because the difference is only in the written form. When speaking, they sound the same (uh'fekt). So, if you can get it down, you're doing better than most native speakers (at least, in America :p )!
+KIBanshee9 wow, you are too kind! :) do you live in the USA?
Antonia Romaker - English and Russian online Yup, Cincinnati, Ohio. I'd been learning Russian with Pimsleur (I'm on Russian I, lesson 23 now), but I got antsy (that's a good English slang term! "Antsy") to explore other ways to better understand the grammar and pronunciation and all that.
Anyway, that lead me to the internet and CZcams where I found you :)
+KIBanshee9 I see, I am glad you found me! And hope my videos will help you a little ;)
