  • When the Gold Line opens for service from Pasadena to Azusa, it will take about 17 minutes to travel the tracks that link Arcadia, Monrovia, Duarte, Irwindale and Azusa. This hi-rail tour will take you along the route in just six minutes. Strap on your seat belt, and enjoy the ride!
Footage for this video was taken in late October thru early November 2014.

Last year I walked that route, exploring the areas around the stations along the way. I'm sure there will be plenty of changes by next year but it should give you an idea.

With 80% of the Gold line extension to Duarte completed as of
This past late October, the line should be operational for service
by the 4th. Of July weekend or maybe the Memorial Day weekend
    at the very earliest.

Is the Metrolink a good substitute to go to San Bernardino? Because the metro gold line only goes up to Citrus College

80’s rock music for a 21st century rail system?
Bad taste is the subject of this post.
I was hoping to catch a view of one of the ugliest bridges ever built in Southern California - the one that spans over the freeway. But it wasn’t highlighted in this video. At least it didn’t indicate the freeway crossing. Maybe because of the odd choice of a low camera angle that featured the rails rather than what passengers would see that made it hard to catch the moment it crossed the freeway. Why are the rails and ties so prominent in this video? Baffling!
The bridge was supposed to be a homage to local Native American basket weaving. It is a literal rendition but in oversized scale of a basket weave. It was perhaps a reference to other over-scaled Southern California icons, like a hotdog, a donut. OMG! As if that was ever going to work!
Somehow I don’t think native Americans are feeling elevated by such a monstrosity. They have better taste as evidenced by the few remaining pieces on view at museums and certainly more dignity than the invading marauders who’ve so thoroughly vanquished all traces of indigenous people and their culture.
I suggest that any future extension of this line earmark a line item for the overhaul of this bridge and respectfully restore more meaningful traces of the culture and community of Native Americans who once lived in peaceful harmony in this part of the world.

Why is there a fence dividing the BNSF tracks and the gold line tracks?

+Horsman4James Freights run during the day to the brewery and then back to the east, so as to not interrupt Gold Line service.

Forgot to mention, Caltrans built 4 lanes plus HOV lanes on the Foothill Freeway then marked only 3 lanes in various stretches of the freeway causing unneeded congestion. Their rationale-extra lanes will be marked when the traffic gets heavier!!!!! Another example of the strange workings of the public sector. Perhaps the congestion was created on purpose to make us all anxious for the trains. What else will they waste our tax dollars on?

Brilliant, everything ready except that the cars weren't ordered in good time. Your splendid government at work.
