- Im excited to be sharing this build with you guys. Adding a awning that easy to setup and holds up to the weather is such a nice addition when out camping in the direct sun or rain. Follow my instagram for more projects! @overlandunderbudget
-Each arm is 7 feet long and made from 3/4 inch square tubing with 1/16th wall thickness. Pipe used is 1inch "black pipe" or gas pipe available at teh hardware store. DOM tubing would be best, and i will use that for the next one. Arms spin on skateboard bearings using 5/16th bolts for the inner axel.
-Hinge plate is 3/16th steel plate
-Awning bag is made from 18oz VCP or "truck tarp"
-Current tarp is a super cheap 9mil 14x14 weave heavy duty tarp from harbor freight www.harborfreight.com/paintin...
This is the second ever project that i used my welder for and I really encourage you guys to try your hand at it, it is so much easier then i thought.
Welder used is a Forney 220mp (MIG) - Auta a dopravní prostředky
You my friend are the DIY, goat.
haha not sure about that but thanks!
Wow, dude kudos to you. I thought of trying this and said oh man, sounds like a lot 😂
thanks dude!

Dude you did one hell of a job 👍 this is exactly what I was searching for thank you for the inspiration.
Yep!!
Brilliant! That's a great idea! The design of hinge and use of hollow ms tubes is a game changer.
I've watched this video and the build process videos a couple of times and each time I'm amazed at how good it all is.
The quality of the video, the quality of the build, the step by step explanation #TopNotch
Thanks so much!
Just love the design on your awning. Super well built, strong and quite easy to do. I def give it a 2 thumbs up! 👍🏻👍🏻
The diy goat out here throwing shade ;)
baaaaaa
You are a genius! Love the savings. I'm not very gifted or have a welder to help make one. Lol. Hope you make more to sale soon.
Really impressive, makes me want to have a go myself
Nice Design and simple to make!!! 👍👍👍
Just perfect. The use of steel tube versus Aluminium (yes I'm an Australian visitor ;-) ) is a very smart choice : barely more weight but stronger and more flexible and ... repairable.
This is awesome. You did a great job explaining the design and materials. Great DIY option
I love that this is better then any 800-1600 dollar set up I have seen.....lord you need to sell this stuff
Awesome!!! Much better than the pricy store bought stuff
You are a gifted person and truly humble. Thank you for the teaching and showing us the way. You are AWESOME!
Really impressive. Definitely earned the follow.
You make it look so simple! Excellent job! You're going to piss off a lot of people but that's tough. I'd be an idiot not to subscribe to your channel! Freakin' awesome!👍👍
Not your typical amazon/on line bolt on build with bunch of sponsors!!! Kudos!!!

Thanks for taking all the thinking out of my next project. I've got an old cheap awning that's poles are a bit bent. I was thinking about converting it to a free standing on like this.
You are genius,! Love it!
That’s the best DIY awning that I have seen so far 👌

Just awesome. I think I just watched a winner project of mine.
Great diy build! Love that you repurposed the fastener straps. I'll have to try that. Glad I found your channel 🙂
Thanks Christine! Once you start looking at things like "like lego pieces" the whole world becomes and big parts bin for your project!
Great work
Es la mejor que he visto felicidades, trataré de hacer una igual para una Cherokee XJ, saludos desde México
That is awesome!
Brilliant re-use of materials!
Thanks Jim!
Absolutely awesome. Looking to make a tear drop style trailer and wanted an idea for a diy awning. I initially thought about taking the rungs off of a telescopic ladder and making a pull out awning. Too many ideas! 🤯😂
Great work. I am in the same boat. Hard to justify $1,000 for an awning. Great video of showing the key points of you design. Your hinge design answered several things for me. Well Done.
Really nice! Next project on my list lol for my 2002 tacoma 4dr :D thx for sharing
THank you!
It’s awasome 👌
EXCELLENT build!!
Thanks!
Great build. Ive been wanting to make a rack mounted annex tent that fully stows in the bag. Some good ideas here.
Very nice bro. Love your creativity and energy. I plan to make one as well. Keep up the good work!
Great job Sir. Just recently submitted. I really enjoy your ingenuity and frugality.
Thank you so much!
This is sweet I want to build one as soon as I get a welder building a budget diy second gen runner for the trails and camping
Well done, looks amazing!!🤙
Thanks a ton!
Man, my first thought was “ARB is $200”...then you folded it out...dude that rocks!! I have canopy envy! Patent that bad boy!
Great job! You remind me of a great friend from high school class of 78! His name is/was Gene Burton. If you are his son or grandson tell him Dave H said hi! Seriously! You look just like him!
You just gained a new sub. Love how you think outside the box and save some money
Thanks for the sub!
Yup! I’m loving this!
thank you!

That is very well thought out. I had to sub.
