    I slipped down an iced covered tree about 8 to 10 inches using a summit stand up in Maine, only two stands that I’ve personally used that never slips even on ice and that’s my LWCG crossover climber and my Tree Walker!

    Agree with all your points, the creeking sound on the belt is an easy fix, put bowstring wax on a toothbrush & get wax on the part of the tube that contacts the smooth side of the belt, actually been doing this on the original LW climber which I've been using over 10 years. I haven't hunted with this new climber yet, but definitely not using the seat cushion.

    • @MichiganGreatOutdoors
      @MichiganGreatOutdoors  Před 4 měsíci +2

      I actually reached out to LWCG on it and they said the same thing, that my tubes need to be lubricated. It makes sense since when I hunteed with it last year it didnt do it or if It did, it was too quiet to notice.

    Have an old Lone Wolf hand climber... psyched that we can get replacement belts again. . funny, that after buying my saddle setup, came to realize that 90% of the time I'm going up straight as an arrow ash and maple here in Vermont... and with the climber being quicker (for me at least) to go up and down, it came outta the barn again last fall. Thanks for the video.

    • @MichiganGreatOutdoors

      Absolutely! Thanks for watching. I also seek mostly straight trees as well when I saddle hunt so it's a perfect replacement option.

      100% agree. Tried the saddle systems and sticks for three seasons and came to same conclusion - back to my lone wolf hand climber last season. So happy I did. Glad to see this gear is making a comeback.

    I bought mine and honestly didn't know if I'd like it much. I'm a bigger guy and there were a lot of concerns. I've been pretty blown away so far. The more I use it the more I like it as well. I had my assault for a decade and it's still totally fine. I get the 1k tag hurts, but if you have it the next 10-15 years that's not bad at all. Especially when you can likely sell it for 5-600 in 5 years. Amazing stand in my opinion....Great review man keep up the good work

    Probably the best reviews of hunting equipment in the game right now. No bullshit, thorough, straight to the point. Well done. I kinda like the long format as well. Thinking about getting one of these, like you said just to have in the arsenal. The small footprint while packing it and the weight is what we've needed in a climber. Only thing that weirds me out is the diameter of that sit bar but looks like it worked fine. Once you use it a dozen times I'm sure all the weird mental doubts start to fade. Good stuff man 👍

    I got my hands on one of these a few days ago to try out. I gotta say I’m very impressed for a guy who doesn’t like climbers. I have an old Lone Wolf Climber and this new LWCG version is so much lighter and versatile, I really am thinking on it hard but there’s too much knarly crap here in So. Michigan. I might get it and use it for up north, there are a lot of good places that got trees for climbers I just don’t get up there much. I do like hunting Northern Michigan a lot more...

    When you're climbing, if your bottom isn't right, just sit in your saddle and lift the platform with your feet and adjust. Been doing this for years with my original hand climber. I've never had an issue not being level at hunting height while using it. Also makes going around limbs doable as well.

      I was able to hunt 3 times with it, all in November, they held up fine. It's my understanding they are made from the old material that has been a proven traction belt from the early 2000s on the old lone wolf hand climbers.

    I just feel that most of the people this is being aimed at are the highly mobile ones and frankly most of them have switched to some sort of saddle setup or micro fixed stand. They may be doing some sort of hybrid setup but this being a climber has limitations. There’s no getting around it and the fact it’s not a lounge chair in the tree like a Summit means it’s target customer is the people using it instead of a traditional climber. At a $1000 I find that VERY cost prohibitive!!! Why not spend $400 for a Summit and be more comfortable or use a .5 and saddle and have no limit of trees to get into. I do still believe a climber has a place in the woods but a top notch traditional style one can be had for half the cost. I’m continually amazed by what LWCG are coming out with!!! 10-15yrs ago I would have longed for this particular climber!!!! Not at $1000 but the packability, weight and adjustability is nuts. At $600 I’d still have reservations simply because it still has climber limitations. Like I said I switched to a saddle with carbon sticks and super light platforms which all together run near $1000 for the basic reason I can’t find a tree that I can’t get into and hunt!!!! Same price no limitations. If you hunt spots that have endless climber trees in the best spots then why spend double when old reliable still works?

    • @MichiganGreatOutdoors
      @MichiganGreatOutdoors  Před 4 měsíci

      I guess it boils down to how u want to skin the cat... There are many ways to skin the cat these days and I will agree with you that sticks and a small stand are probably the best way to go since you can get into any tree that way. I think in many ways the people who prefer climbers are the ones who have always just used climbers their whole life and have been wanting to get something like this to save some weight. $1,000 for a climber is crazy expensive… I wish it was more affordable and to be 100% honest with you, if I didn’t make money from CZcams and do these videos I’m not sure that Id own it just due to the price tag. Now that I own it, yeah its definitely a Cadillac.

    • @pathfinder5804
      @pathfinder5804 Před 4 měsíci

      Oh I can see the use for it as far as it makes my Summit look like a 1960’s vintage stand. There definitely isn’t anything like it on the market and is a lane completely on its own!!! If you tucked the straps in tight it looks like about the size of a 1.0 and that’s nuts!!! A climber that weights 12-15lbs WOW. My Summit setup to hunt and with what I take with me in woods weights close to 30-34lbs. However having a deluxe seat and a hard stationary rail all around me it’s truly like sitting in a lazy boy in the living room. Also up here in Maine we are primarily gun hunters and having that stationary shooting rail is worth its frustration getting into the woods. However run n gun not so much as it’s loud and cumbersome in woods. I typically identify a spot while still hunting and scouting then bring it in and leave it locked at base of tree ready to use. The super mobile aspect comes into play when I don’t know what tree I’m setting up in and I will always choose a micro stand and sticks or my saddle setup so no tree is off limits. Even saddles and say a .5 are becoming cost prohibitive. A .5 with 4 of my latitude carbon sticks along with pack to carry small bits of gear is running that same $1000. Saddle about $800 but there’s multi uses to those and no limits. I think if I were exclusively a bow hunter this stand would peak my interest a little more as the rail isn’t wanted during bow hunting. Still as usual it’s a great review of a top end product!!!!
