      Yep all depends on your needs. Mobile huntingnis all I do and with me doing over 30 all day sits a year and another 50 5-6 hour sits I want a different system so I use what a full size stand and 3 full size sticks. The extra 6 pounds means nothing to me. And most of my spots are between 1 and 2.5 miles in the swamp now that I live in the south. Its good to want light weight stuff but don't sacrifice hunt ability to save a couple pounds. Sounds like you have your system dialed in perfect for your needs.

    Just like everything else nowadays, I got sticker shocked when I looked up how much the 1.0 costs. Great looking stand and well thought out, but I bought my XOP Vanish Evolution 2.5 years ago for $150. I acknowledge the XOP stand is cast and not machined, but from what I can tell it has all the same features as the 1.0 LWCG. With inflation hitting hard, it's tough to cough up six bills for a stand that weighs a couple pounds lighter.

    • @SamkoTradBow
      @SamkoTradBow  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Agree the xop stands are fantastic and still affordable. It's hard to justify the costs of alot of stuff today. Stand, broadheads, appliances, trucks etc. It's all brutal expensive

    @zacchurch502 Před 8 měsíci +1

    I have a .5 and a .75 and they are the best things I have done when it comes to upgrading my stands. I use them as a pack and use the seat to store my clothing. I sit when I shoot so I don't mind the smaller platforms, and I take my oldest son with me and do double sits in a tree with him and the .5 is excellent for him to carry and sit in.
    Jason, I know you love the three step sticks from the original LW I would be interested to see you get the 1.0 and a set of the newer LWCG three step sticks that integrate to the platform and see what you think of that.

    You’re the reason I got the assault 2 as my first stand, but when I wanted something smaller and lighter, I went with the .5. Recently switched to the .75 because the longer platform length allows for the proper use of load lifters when used as a packframe for backpack hunts/meat hauling.

      That .75 is very impressive. With me being in big snake boots all the time I feel I'm needing more width to move and spin on stand for deer. So I think the 1.0 would be the right one for me. My assault is absolutely perfect width and size.

Even with the Champer, I still need to do a tow lift 90% of the time to snug it against the tree. it’s never been an issue for me though. Great review, I've probably watched all your stand related clips now and trying to decide between .5 .75 and 1.0 for a stand. Turned out saddle hunting doesn't work too great for me just like you said, hanging on the ass hammock makes me shifting and fiddling + the tree is filling half the view. I'm 5'11", somewhat overweight but fairly agile. Size 12 foot and hunting down to 0F or bit lower. Sole of my boot does fit on the .75 sideways, mainly I worry if the cables get too narrow to stand up close to tree and lean for a bit if I want to.

    • @SamkoTradBow
      @SamkoTradBow  Před 7 měsíci +1

      I think the .75 is a half inch wider than the beast stand so it's not very bad. The 1.0 I just bought has more room between the cables than my lw assault does! I love love love the 1.0

Hunted out of a saddle for the previous 7 years and I definitely prefer my .75. Paired with latitude sticks and this is a crazy light and durable stand. I actually like the more narrow profile of the beast stand. I find it catches less on brush, and I feel more comfortable with a longer narrow platform rather than a shorter and wider platform. I think 2 more inches of length is better than .5" of width. I think it's pretty funny that half of an inch is that important to you. I guess I would have a hard time noticing that, I know I would notice the platform length though. And I might notice if it was 8 ounces heavier, where you don't care too much about that.. 😁 I guess everyone is different! The gripping on the platform is nice. I don't notice much for slipping but I have noticed the smoothness of it sometimes leads to some squeaks on my boots if they are wet. I did add a paracord wrap on the front edge of my Beast stand instead of stealth strips. I feel like it helps deadens any small noises on the stand and it also provides a raised edge on the front stand so you can feel where you are at on the stand without looking down. Absolutely love my beast stand! That being said, I would love to try out a LWCG 1.0 or .75 and do some rigorous testing on them!

    • @SamkoTradBow
      @SamkoTradBow  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Yep many great stands out there to fit everyone's needs. I love my beast stand. But after 2 years in it all it took was one sit in my assault (3 inches wider I think) for me to fall in love with the extra width again. A half inch wouldn't matter much to me but 3 inches is a big difference. For me if I were buying a stand today it would be a lwcg 1.0.

    I've been toe hooking treestands for almost 40 years and I've never had a problem I'm also an ironworker and I do rigging for a living the first thing you learn is never bounce your rigging so in my opinion stomping your tree stands into the tree to get it to bite is dumber than doing the toe hook

      I may not of been an iron worker. But I bet there are less that 5% of people in the word that hang as many tree stands as I do and have. And I think toe hooking is an un necessary failure in stand design. And as you are gonna start seeing more this year with new stands coming out. Many feel the same way. @@SamkoTradBow Just get rid of the beast and assaults. Keep the alpha and a .75 or 1.0.
      I like having the two extremes for the basic needs, mobile and all day.
      I have a .5 for quick mobile hybrid hunting. Use a saddle as my harness. Usually only a stick or two high. (lwcg double step sticks pack on it like a dream)
      I also have the LW Alpha with footrests and a novix mesh seat for long sits. I have badly degraded discs in my back from work, so this helps a lot with being able to sit. It's still mobile enough that I can hang and hunt. I use this with various climbing methods (bolts, sticks, steps, etc) Usually reserved for all day sits and sometimes late season for the extra space while wearing more clothes.
