Ditch the full length sticks and run their compact or double step sticks that are designed to integrate with the stand. Run an aider on each stick and get just as high as you would with your full length sticks, and achieve a much smaller profile. This would also allow you to ditch the pool noodle. The sticks are dead quiet on the stand. Also, I know that paracord cuts into your shoulder when hiking. the shoulder straps that came with that stand are much more comfortable, and because of their flat/wide nature, they dont twist.

I have 8 saddles, 7 stands, 10 sets of sticks and have tried everything out there. If i choose this set up its for a reason and what I like best. I can get from standing at the base of the tree to in my stand with my bow in my lap in 3 mins. also shown in videos.

If you will make sure your bottom platform is not engaged at all when full tightening the strap the hand cam works every time. So basically raise the bottom platform up. Tighten strap last little cinch. Then push down and cam! Hope that helps a little!

Took me a bit to figure it out expecting it to be like all my other stands and having to do a light stomp to set it. When I realized that didn't work I did some jumps to see what it took to get it to slide. Then realized it won't slide at all. It needs to be cammed by hand. Then it worked flawlessly. Camlocking with your toe is probably quieter than jumping on the stand. Also the amount of force thats generated on the platform, cables, and straps by jumping on the platform might not be as safe as toe hooking.
Try putting the strap around the tree with the platform and seat vertical. Once tight, pull down on the stand by hand and then lower the platform.

@J155P I know alot of guys that love thr .5! And the beauty of these lwcg stands is they make all different sizes and options. It's a brilliant stand and I'm super impressed with it. And it's been a long time since I seen stand that can be cammed by hand and bite that hard. I have been modifying stands with Chambers for almost 20 years to get then to lock tight to a tree without tow hooking. This is the first stand I've ever used that can be set tight by just caming by hand. It's a great stand that comes in a huge variety of sizes to fit anyone's needs.

  • @smau990
    @smau990 Před 7 měsíci +2

Just placing the order to LWCG your timing couldn't have been better with this. Want to get the stand to Finland for last weekends of the season. In the end it was the winter boots for dealing with 0F weather that tipped me to 1.0 over .75. Sure, being able to get between tighter branches might help occasionally but if I understand right the bracket itself is exactly as wide between the two so maybe the difference isn't even that huge where I'll be able to fit in.
I got an answer to few questions from LWCG also, their opinion was that toe hooking is absolutely ok to do if the bracket isn't tight after hand camming. I don't really understand why you're so much against it, jumping on it seems even more dangerous. But their own instruction video says to hand cam it and that seems to work. What I see looking lot of reviews is those who seem to need to do the toe hook every stand are kinda sloppy getting slack out of the strap before trying to set the stand and that probably has lot to do with it.
Anyways, thanks for your work here.

I don’t toe hook anymore either. It puts stand and you in a very unstable position. I’ve had my stand try to kick out on me. Even with harness on it’s not a good feeling and very hard on the arms and shoulders, because your instinct is to tense up and grab tree.

I have never had branches ever get in the way of my assault (same size as the 1.0) where I wished it was narrower. my beast stand was much narrower and never once thought "thank god i have this narrower stand". so I dont think it will be an issue for you.
the toe caming bothers me becuase it could easily be desgned out of stand. no rason for it. luckly this stand doesnt need it. the hand caming works excellent. I would not ever jump on a stand like I was in the video but was trying to learn it and see what it required. toe caming the way people do it with the knee on the seat, weight up high about the strap and extending out to toe hook while balancing on an unstable stand is just bad in my opinion. @@SamkoTradBow I agree it shouldn't be necessary. I don't have huge experience hanging stands. XOP Vanish I tried to set up needed some toe hooking but it also has an offset bracket that hangs up easily and fairly round teeth on the platform. Not my stand so can't take a file to it. Anyways, I was tethered with rope fairly tight so I'd see it fairly safe situation.
Chamfering the teeth on the offset bracket still seems like good idea. Tempted to try it on the Ambush platform but I have a feeling I'm selling it soon. @@SamkoTradBow Now that I go back and look at the specs of the assault, I’m not sure why I’m looking to spend $500+ on a new one, haha.

Pride...before the fall. These stands aren't made to be jumped on, and doing so is only asking for trouble. Hand cam it, toe cam it, either way the proper thing to do is to cam the bottom end....and not by jumping on it. A lot of folks emulate you; you're well versed in many things hunting. Be mindful of that Sir. Thanks as always for the candid review.

The jumping on it was to see what it would take to get it to slide. I said right in the video I would never jump on it like that and if it required that I would sell it. and from an engineering stand point the jumping is less stressful than toe hooking it. But fortunately this stand only needs to be hand cammed to set it. If it required toe hooking I would sell it. Any stand that can not be set by hand or with a quick one footed stomp before getting into it is a bad design and I would not own it. This jumping was testing this stand to see what it needs and how it works. by the 3rd tree I had it all figured out and no need to toe hook it.

curious to why you refuse to toe cam?

Its not a safe practice to teach. the way people do it with the knee on the seat balancing all their weight above the strap and extending to hook the platform while releasing the platform teeth is asking for a roll out. and its easy to make a stand so it can slide and not need it.

I don't do a full toe cam where I lift the platform completely up but even just a slight lift with your weight on the seat really gets my .5 to bite hard. Not insulting your intelligence just was wondering your take on it. @@SamkoTradBow

Watching you bastardize this stand is like watching someone lower a brand new truck….

are you talking about the chamfer? if so trust me, all stand should come this way. And i hardly think a couple licks with a file is as serious as you make it. But hey, if it makes you feel better more power to ya.
