  • Today we are driving northwards from Sfax and exploring the archaeological sites of Mahdia Governorate's coastline. These include:
    - Acholla (Henchir Botria), an Amazigh-Roman settlement
    - Borj Khadija, a Byzantine tower overlooking the turtle nesting beach at Chebba
    - Salakta, with its archaeological museum that includes an incredibly preserved Punic sarcophagus from the 5th century BC
    - Thapsus (Ras Dimass), scene of a key battle between Julius Caesar and the Optimates during the Roman Republican Civil War
    - Moknine, just over the border in Monastir Governorate, famed for its pottery and with an amazing ethnographic museum that includes ancient golden jewelry produced by the Jewish population of the town

Tunisia has so many wonderful, unexplored archaeological sites. I think my playlist of all of them is now the longest playlist on my channel! Thirty videos and counting: czcams.com/video/1K9-17Fmoh4/video.html
