If I remember correctly, Slipknot and Stone Sour were THE bands in their hometown and when Slipknot needed new members, Corey Taylor came in on vocals and brought Jim Root with him (the tall guy with the zipper mouth masks on guitar),, basically turning Slipknot into an Iowa metal supergroup and they achieved major success fairly quickly afterwards. This left the remaining parts of Stone Sour in the dark, so Corey started the band backup when he had established himself as a major talent in the music scene and was able to bring near immediate success to the revival of the band. Their first single "Bother" (and the first time we got to officially see Corey's face and not just fan pics posted online) was immediately put in the soundtrack for Spider Man 3 and helped launch the band pretty quickly into success.
It doesn't say it was in 3?
Bother was on the first spiderman soundtrack
Jim originally turned down joining Slipknot. Twice.
@@toastybastard9559 yeah that’s my bad. I try to pull directly from memory but was not sure of the years as I was partying pretty hard during that period. The 2000’s are a blur in some spots.
@@everyonelovesmajima My bad, my memory isn't the greatest and I usually try to pull from memory when I post online, even if it means I get some details wrong. Posting the wrong info online is often a quick way to learn the right answer though :)
Shawn "Clown" Crahan is the main artistic consultant envisionary for Slipknot.
Clown and Joey were first and original members
Would love to see you react to Slipknot "Negative one" Very heavy song that has a good ole Slipknot disturbing video Lol Jay's drumming on this is so good!
With the Uncensored video 😅😉😉
In 95-96 it was 6 piece band, today Clown is the only remaining original member. And actually Corey did leave SS in the dark for quite some time. Guitarist Jim Root is the other member from SS, he became part of the Slipknot in 1999, when debut album was almost entirely finished.
Killpop is one of my favs!!!! Something about this song….. a rare gem!!!! 🔥🔥🤘🤘💜💜
I love Joey to death, one of the greatest drummers of all time no doubt. The only thing is he is all speed and stamina, sounds sick and his technique is still nice. Jay is just different, it’s so fluent and even though he’s not always speed and stamina he sounds amazing.
Joey was a human drum machine. He was precise and unrelenting.
Jay is a talent with actual joy in his art, and you can see it in his movements.
Both are amazing drummers, and both play so uniquely different, and you can hear it.
"The Blister Exists" should be the next song if you want to hear more Joey Jordison going crazy on the drums.
YES!!!!!
AGREED. And his performance is often overlooked due to how the snares stand out from Chris and Clown
Jay is definitely one of the best drummers in metal but Joey is in a different level, also Jay joined slipknot in 2014
I work w a drummer so we obviously talked when Joey passed, I asked his opinion he said, Joey is the OG, gotta give him props for being the pathfinder for Metal drumming! Jay is technically more precise so by definition “better” but he grew up listening to Joey drum so he was able to learn from the OG.
I love the fact that Mike just nailed the most awesome mask for him and has barely changed it.
Best part of this music video is how sid just starts dancing. Classic.
I've said it before, but I really think you guys should do "danger-keep away" because it's another one of those slipknot songs that will surprise you with how much variety their music has. Plus it being my favorite song of theirs gives it a boost lol.
Edit: if I'm not mistaken, by the time of slipknots first album (mate feed kill repeat) there was Joey, Paul and clown/shawn (the founders), Craig, anders instead of corey and I believe the guitarists were josh Brainard and Donnie Steele (sometimes I confuse the names of some of the early guys). Inbetween MFKR and the self titled they added corey instead of anders, replaced Donnie with mick, brought in chris (the long nose Pinocchio mask who is no longer in the band as of around 2019), and added sid. Right before the self titled was done, Josh left so they brought along Jim to play guitar. Jim was the other stone sour member to join, which yes, is the one with the phantom of the opera like mask and beard in this video. And fun fact, Jim is one of the only 2 OG 9 members who wasn't born in iowa (Jim from Las Vegas Nevada and Paul from California).
Yes please.
Maaan I love this song! This whole album has bangers (RIP Gray) . The song is about the music industry and the love hate relationship
original lineup, first album: mate feed kill repeat
clown (percussion), paul (bass), joey (drums), anders (vox), josh and donnie (gtrs)
self titled album lineup: corey (vox), clown, paul, joey, josh, mick (gtr), chris (percussion), sid (tables), craig (keys & samples)
jim (gtr) joined halfway through recording, replacing josh
same lineup until paul died during the all hope is gone era, donnie returned to play bass until alex joined, joey was fired and replaced with jay for their next album: the gray chapter
chris left after suing the band for dodgy financial stuff and was replaced by michael/tortilla guy for the latest album, we are not your kind
current lineup:
corey (vox), clown & michael (percussion), alex (bass), jim & mick (gtrs), sid (tables), craig (keys & samples), and jay (drums)
Pin this for accurate timeline.
I miss Chris. Damn it.
Is Chris not back with Slipknot? I thought for a brief second he was. But I could be way off with that one.
If I'm not mistaken this song is referring to the music industry and their relationship with it, that being said, you gotta check out Custer, or Skeptic from this album
Edit: Jay has his own style and grooves, but Joey is, was, and always will be the GOAT of metal drumming. Clown does all the creative stuff, Craig(pinhead) does the samples
Fun fact, Jay Weinberg's dad is Max Weinberg the drummer from Bruce Springsteen and the E street band
Joey Paul and Clown are the founding members, mick joined, they had another singer named Andy that Corey replaced, then Jim Sid Fehn, and Craig joined
Craig was before Jim, Sid, and Chris
Craig before mick, craig was actually on guitar but mick took over and craig preferred to do samples and keyboards anyway.
Lmfao dude Craig is a og too.
Awesome boys 🙌
*Anders Colsefni was the original singer
So to the music video talk the house one was left behind.
And Shawn clown is the art director he started around all hope is gone album. After that he has been the guy in charge. Shawn has super dark artistic style.his Instagram is insane.
House they’re probably thinking of is from Duality. Either way, both houses were probably condemned and they caught it right before they were bulldozed.
Clown’s videos are my favorites, just because they seem like they’re projected straight from their brains rather than filtered through someone else where they lose a little something special.
One of my fav songs!!! Yay!!
Yes killpop is one of my favorite songs
The earliest wrestler I can remember using facepaint was Kazuo Sakurada. He wrestled under the name Kendo Nagasaki in Stampede Wreslting and NWA in the late 70s and early 80s.
finally, this song is amazing
I loved y'alls reaction to this song! This is one of my fav reactions by you guys! Thanx for playing this song! Was awesome!!!!!
Actually the first couple of studio album from stone sour sounded a lot like slipknot but it was in 2002 and 2006, but before that in the 90s stone sour was a post grunge rock band
Love the wrestling questions. Smokey knows his stuff for sure. My first thought for face paint was Sting. Idk if that's right, lol. I just saw Slipknot the night before last. My fourth Slipknot concert, my first time seeing them, lol (story for another time). It was awesome! Great reaction, as always!
Also, I have a request. Would love to ee you guys react to "Alpha & Omega" by KING 810. It's a banger. You both will love it.
Been looking forward to this one Fam! Keep up the hard work and excellent content!
Glad y'all liked this one. Definitely one of my favorites.
Craig Jones #5 with all the long spikes and nails coming out of his head is the sampler of the band,at stage right. He's also known as "133".
I remember when I saw slipknot and they preformed this song me and a fellow maggot grabbed each other's shirt yell "die and fucking love me" and when the song ended we hugged and cheered for more slipknot lol
🦋Great Reaction Guys! These Slipknot Saturday Uploads are Something I Always Look Forward To Throughout The Tough Week. Love This Song! 🤘😏
🦋“Music is the Universal Language of Mankind, It Is the strongest form of magic, & produces a kind of pleasure which human nature cannot do without''
👍
I had to go back and watch psychosocial reaction again after watching this... your reactions to that were so good 🤣🤣
I saw Slipknot at Soundwave festival 2015 in Melbourne Australia, damn they were so good!! Would love to see them again
1995 Slipknot consisted of just 6 guys - apparently 6 wasn't enough! You guys have become the highlight of my Saturday, so thank you. Stay (sic) 🤘🏻
Great reaction. Love this song and video.
Pleeeeeaase. Put a gate on the audio xD Allways cracking when you guys get excited!
In my personal opinion it would be awesome if you guys reacted to the Slipknot unmasked interviews
Stone Sour broke up in 97, when Corey joined Slipknot. Jim Root was in Stone Sour, and joined Slipknot when they were recording their self titled album in 99, then after Slipknot got big Stone Sour got back together in 2000, with Corey and Jim back in it, but Jim got fired from Stone Sour in '14, just after Joey was fired from Slipknot.
Yes yes yes!!! Probably one of my personal favorites from the Knot! 🤘🏼💙🤘🏼
P. S. If you REALLY wanna hear Jay's genius on this track, check out the Zildian video of Killpop!
Jay and Joey are very similar, but I think nobody can disagree that JOEY possessed more insane speed than Jay. With his double bass kicks and his insane hand speeds, but at the same time was very technical too. Jay is more a technical drummer, and though he does have some speed I believe Joey is better in the SPEED department for the drums period. #BOTHAMAZING
6ix: "What instrament does he play"
Everyone:"clown? he plays the keg"
Reminds me of a review of Slipknot I read once; 'Slipknot is a chaotic live band with too many members. Some of the members seem to not play at all but just runs around the stage and beats on things'.
I don't think the reviewer was a fan of either Slipknot or metal.
🤣🤣🤣
Only seen slipknot live once, few years ago with Lamb of god, bullet for my valentine, and motionless in white , awesome show, not sure if it tops some of the A7x shows I been too but still so much fun
Slipknot members
Vocals- Corey Taylor (duh)
Guitar- Jim Root (phantom of the opera) & Mick Thomson (evil Casey Jones)
Bass- Paul Gray (died of an OD) replaced by Alessandro Venturella
Percussion- M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan & Chris Fehn (Pinocchio) (dismissed after suing the band for more money) replacement is Michael Pfaff
Drums- Joey Jordison (dismissed after needing time off for medical but there was no guarantee he would ever drum again, recently passed) replaced with Jay Weinberg (his dad was/is a famous drummer)
Turntable- Sid Wilson
Keyboard- Craig Jones (pin head)
(Original members for 1st 4 albums, Corey Taylor original vocalist on all albums but founding vocalist was on the demo)
Slipknot-Iowa-Vol. 3 The Subliminal Versus-All Hope Is Gone
(Paul Gray passed and Joey Jordison dismissed)
.5 The Gray Chapter-All Out Life (Only single released)-(Chris Fehn gone)We Are Not Your Kind
7th album to be released soon!
Didn't Chris call himself 'PORNocchio' as he was always wanking his nose off 😆
@@crayzeewhorse 😂🤣probably! Never heard that personally but wouldn’t be surprised!
As an iowan i love seeing people vibe to slipknot and stone sour. Been by their studio in jamaica a few times.
Y'all should see Corey's new mask, it's trippy.
Slipknot first started with 5 members. They put out a small album called “Mate.Feed.Kill.Repeat” of “MFKR”. They evolved to a group of 9 by the time they released their self titled album “Slipknot” that everyone thinks is their first in 1999. They had already swapped singers to Corey Taylor and he’s been their only singer since. The only 2 members of the 9 from the original 5, were Shawn (the Clown/percussionist) and Paul (the pig/bass player). They also had numbers they all wore or went by as well 0-8.
The 9 were
0 - Sid Wilson/The DJ
1 - Joey Jordinson/Drummer
2 - Paul Grey/ Bass Guitar
3 - Chris Fehn/ Percussionist
4 - James Root/ Rhythm Guitar
5 - Craig Jones/ Samples/Keyboard
6 - Shawn Crahan/ Percussionist
7 - Mick Thompson/ Lead Guitar
8 - Corey Taylor/ Lead Vocals
They released their 3rd Album (or 2nd as the lineup of 9) called “Iowa” in 2001.
4th album was in 2004 I believe called “Vol.3 The Subliminal Verses”.
5th album was in 2008 and called “All hope is gone”.
In 2010, unfortunately, Paul Grey (2) Bass Guitar, passed away.
Alessandro “Alex” Venturella joined the band in 2014 to be the new bass player and they released a new album called “.5:The Grey Chapter”. The name was a tribute to Paul Grey who had passed away. I believe Joey Jordinson (1) The Drummer helped record the album but there was a falling out and he left Slipknot and was replaced with Jay Weinberg as the Drummer.
They released another album in 2019, called “We Are Not Your Kind” and I’m not sure if before or after that album was released, but (3) Chris Fehn- Percussionist has also left and been replaced by Michael Pfaff also known as the Tortilla Man.
I think there’s a new album coming soon.
You guys are my fave
Road Warriors waaay back in the early 80s were the first ones to wear face paint! I said it same time Smokey did! 💙👊🏼
If I remember right, the first time Corey saw Slipknot live he said "I'm gonna be in this band" Corey said that in an interview
Love this song and don’t really listen to them much but this one I get. I do love Snuff as well.
This song is also up my bowling alley 🎳
Nice one guys
Oh, come on guys! You have to react to Ghosts new singel, Hunter's Moon!
every SOng is a banger!!!!
Jim Root was in stone sour originally but he left a few albums ago.
Corey and Jim were originally in Stone Sour. Corey got pulled into Slipknot as the second vocalist and eventually became the lead vocalist. After they got signed and recorded their first full length album, one of the guitarists left right before released and they recruited Jim.
Once Slipknot was established well after their second album, Corey and Jim revived Stone Sour and they would switch off between album/tour cycles with the two bands, going a few years between each band.
Shawn (Clown) Crahan Directed the video for Devil in I and I believe he did the video fore this one too. Clown is a director in his own right and has done several of the bands videos if i remember correctly.
The video in the house you were thinking of was Duality.
For the record, Corey's worst mask is the "clear" one he had for the We Are Not Your Kind album.
Pretty sure he’s the brainchild behind all of the videos. I totally agree about CT’s WANYK mask. It made him look like he was dead in the water for 3 days - bloated dead guy mask.
Can you do some more In this moment..the in between..maria brink is amazing
Just went to see them it was pretty awesome 1st concert in almost 15 years.
I know you guys did spit it out by slipknot already but i really want to see you react to the live version, specifically the Download 2009 version. You wanna see an insane huge crowd, especially since Corey has the crowd get on the ground for the ending breakdown and jump up, you will love it.
That intro tho lmaooo where clowns putting his foot through the chair 😂😂😂. That one of my favorite interviews
You guys should listen to “Confessions” from Slipknots first album “Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat.” This was released before Corey Taylor was on vocals, 97 or 98 with a guy named Anders Colsefni on vocals instead. The song has a chill rap vibe and is unlike anything else the band has ever written. One of my all time favs as a lifelong slipknot fan. It would be awesome to see you react to this song.
Savio Vega actually wore face paint in Puerto Rico long before the Road Warriors and sting
Mick actually played a serial killer in a music video for a death metal band called Lupara, song is called "No Pity On The Ants"
It's good to see Slipknot gain 2 more fans from a different genre.
Scissors!!!!!! Last track on self titled album, and the best with great video!
I can't hear the name Craig without having the urge to start quoting Friday.
The 'original' Slipknot line-up was indeed a six-piece. Anders Colsefni (lead vocals, auxiliary percussion), Donnie Steele (lead guitar), Josh Brainard (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Shawn Crahan (auxiliary percussion), Paul Gray (bass, backing vocals), Joey Jordison (drums). That said, if you go back to the true early days of Slipknot before they were Slipknot then they were a regular four-piece and a yet different line-up. By the way, the guy with the pinhead mask plays keyboards and controls samples... and Shawn has creative control and co-directs most of the band's music videos. Paul wore the pig mask. Mick did actually play the role of a serial killer in another band's music video... and yeah he's tall but his height is definitely exaggerated in many shots.
The band name before slipknot was mead
@@rashby69 I think you mean Meld. And yes it was, at one point. They had several different names.
@@FlyboyHelosim must have been autocorreted with out me noticing
The Stone Sour song Looking Under Glass, is really early and it's the first time I saw Corey without a mask, not even realizing Jim Root was the guitarist.
I didn't like that mask either ( my favorite is the expressionless mask) , Taylor said he went on tour with the mask and he realized it was the hardest to sing through....
You guys had to do a one song that makes me Ballout but here we go I know it's about the movie music industry but still man
Slipknot was my first ever concert back in 2016. Holy fuck they are so wicked live man!!! 🤘
I'm sure it has already been answered but Duality was shot in the abandoned house. And early work. I love both.
13 more days until I get to see these guys!!! I'll send you guys some live video. Really need to do "The Heretic Anthem" next. 🤘❤
Throwin hands on joey disses. Cold and quick.
There’s actually a second version of that mask that shows more of his hair and that one looks dope though, maybe you can find a video about his mask development somewhere
Please tell me eyeless is next weekend! Or any song from the download 2009 concert lol y’all should check out slipknot live from this years Knotkest. Corey sounds like he did on the Iowa album. His voice is better than it’s ever been. The whole band sounds like they’re in their prime right now. Keep up the good work 👍
Dang. How did I miss this one
this is what i found in wikipedia
Anders Colsefni (vocals)
Donnie Steele (guitar)

@Trash Talkers corey joined in 1997 and jim root (#4) joined in 1999, jim root did half the songs on self titled while the original guy recorded some of the other songs, theres always been 9 guys the people who was there then got replaced by other people and i actully didnt know corey and jim was already in stone sour before that lol
Orphan would be my vote. The drums alone is all I'm going to say. 😂😂😂
Shawn Crahen, aka CLOWN, does a lot of the videos. Heck, the SNUFF video is a short film he wrote.
You guys should listen to Pulse of the Maggots, thats an real banger.
Yessss thank you!!! I will shut up now 😊
Btw I think the pinhead mask would be great for keeping people from getting too close to you 😆👍🏽
Oh and not sure how anti-pop Corey Taylor is, I saw him once talk about his love for ABBA 😊
Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but Hollywood asked what instrument the guy in the Pinhead mask plays, and im pretty sure he is the other percussionist or he is the DJ.
Craig - Samples & keyboards…Sid’s the DJ, Shawn & Dingus are the percussionists
this is based only from what i know about the members,
if other maggots can add more info or correct me, it is my pleasure to learn!

i dont know much about the original before corey tho.
There's always been 9 members of slipknot since the Oz fest 2000.
11:50 If your referring to the spiky dude (Craig) he plays keyboards and samples. Basically Piano and the weird creepy noises you hear in there songs.
Skin Ticket is Slipknot's most underrated song IMO
Slipknot original members 1995:
Joey Jordison - Drums
Paul Gray - Bass
Shawn Crahan - Percussion
Donnie Steele - Guitar
Josh Brainard - Guitar
Anders Colsefni - Vocals
In 1996 Craig Jones replaced Donnie Steele on guitar. Mick thompson also joined in 1996 and took over guitar. Craig Jones switched to sampling.
By 1999 Corey Taylor joined the band and replaced Anders Colsefni. After the self titled album was recorded, Jim Root joined the band on guitar replacing Josh Brainard. Jim Root was the other member of Stone Sour. He was later released from Stone Sour in 2014 but Corey remained as the vocalist.
Slipknot 2nd lineup 1999-2010/2013:
Sid Wilson - DJ
Joey Jordison - Drums
Paul Gray - Bass
Chris Fehn - Percussion
Jim Root - Guitar
Craig Jones - Samples
Shawn Crahan - Percussion

In 2010 Paul Gray passed away. In 2013 Joey Jordison was released from the band. In 2015 Alessandro Venturella joined the band on bass replacing Paul and Jay Weinberg joined the band on drums replacing Joey.
In 2019 Chris Fehn was released from the band and replaced by Michael Pfaff on Percussion.
Slipknot current lineup:
Sid Wilson - DJ
Jay Weinberg - Drums
Alessandro Venturella- Bass
Michael Pfaff - Percussion
Jim Root - Guitar
Craig Jones - Samples
Shawn Crahan - Percussion
Mick Thompson - Guitar
Corey Taylor - Vocals
Hopefully that all made sense
Psychostick - Two Ton Paperweight
It's a hard song but the lyrics are hilarious.
I believe that in the US, Sting was the first to wear facepaint tmk.
I don't think that Jay is better than Joey. But I do believe that he is a very worthy person to take over.
The original Slipknot lineup was known as Meld, featuring Anders Colsefni, Joey Jordison, Paul Gray, The Clown, Donnie Steele, and Josh Brainard. Craig came in as a guitarist but became their sampler. I believe donnie left and was replaced by "Cuddles", who left and was replaced by Mick. They changed their name to The Pale Ones at some point, then while making MFKR they made a song called Slipknot and Joey said "That's a pretty fucking cool name". After which Corey joined, relegating Anders to percussion and backup, Anders left, was replaced by Chris, Sid joined after headbutting Clown at a live show, then after recording the 1999 album Josh left and Corey brought in Jim Root.
Glad someone else doesn't like Corey's .5 mask
not gonna lie, Mick is the only one that i’d be scared to see in a dark alley 😳
Clown, Joey, and Paul formed the band. They have had a decent amount of members you probably don’t know of. But the members part of the MFKR era that you do know are the three founders, Mick, and Craig. Corey joined shortly after, then Jim, Sid, then Chris. All of the last 4 except Sid were replacements. (Also I’m not a big fan of the .5 Corey mask either)

Eyeless, The Blister Exists, Orphan... please :D
Corey Taylor's mask is a 2 part mask. The "skin" peels off and it shows what looks to be a skull.
"Clown" Shawn chrahan directs all of them, and even makes movies on the side
Fun fact, clown actually directs their videos. Has been for years
