    I got the Curt Crosswing hitch about 4500 miles ago. I can attest to the fact this hitch is awesome! I was able to get the new adapter mount for the Ram puck system. What I like the most is the weight. I'm a 67 year old disabled vet and I can lift this system with one hand. When I need the bed of my Ram, I can easily dismount this. I've pulled our 5th wheel from Colorado to South Padre Island and then along the coast over to Gulf Shores and then home. About 4500 miles. I purchased the hitch from e-trailer (I get most of my trailer items at e-trailer) and I can't say enough good things about it. It pulled absolutely great. Hitching and unhitching are quick and easy. I swapped out a Curt A20 and saved myself several hundred ponds in cargo alone. The mount for the puck system is great. Four hitch pins lock the hitch to the adapter. Just like placing a hitch into your receiver. Curt has gotten this right!

    I personally think the last curt hitch is just Curt's version of the Andersen ultimate fifth wheel hitch which as been out for awhile now. Not saying it's good or bad, just a different twist on an existing mouse trap. Just my opinion. Thanks for the video JD!!

      @brianb-p6586 Před rokem +1

      Andersen's Ultimate is a ball-and-socket hitch (ball on the hitch frame; socket on the trailer). The Curt CrossWing is not a ball hitch; it has three separate pivot axes.
      Both systems attach an adapter to the trailer's king pin, but the Andersen Ultimate socket-type coupler is fixed there, while the Curt CrossWing fitting rotates on the king pin as the vehicle combination steers. The second pivot axis is at the pin where the coupling occurs, and the third (lateral) axis is in the pitch compliance feature under the head.
      While not related in design, the Curt CrossWing is clearly competing for the same market as the Andersen Ultimate. The PullRite SuperLite is in the same market; it is a ball-and socket but with the ball attached to the trailer's king pin and the socket on the frame in the truck.

    • @drswanny9000
      @drswanny9000 Před 7 měsíci

      Oh, the Crosswing is a very different hitch system. The Anderson hitch voids the Lippert warranty because it adds stress to the pin. The Crosswing looks like a standard 5er hitch to the pin. That is, the stresses at the pin are the same for the Crosswing as it is for the standard 5er hitch. For an Anderson hitch system, the pivot point is extended out in front of the pin. This increases the stress at the pin.
      Wait, there’s more.
      The attachment to the truck is behind the axle on the Anderson hitch, it is not for the Crosswing. It is where it is supposed to be.
      You don’t need chains for the Crosswing.
      This hitch system is far superior to the Anderson hitch in every way possible.

    We bought a used Fifth wheel last August in Missouri. We were in Arizona and flew in to Missouri to visit with my daughter. It was stored at our friends marina which is where we stayed all summer, and are trying to get back to Arizona still. Bought a used truck after the RV 🤪and it has the Anderson hitch system on it. We have towed many a big boats, although this is our first time towing a fifth wheel. She is 36’ long and to say I’m a bit nervous is an understatement. I guess I we find out😳. I really like the look of that hitch. Since the owners manual is lame, I have been watching a lot of other CZcams channels with fifth wheel trailers. Say a prayer for us 🙏🥰😇

    I recognized your truck and 14ft ultra heavy-duty lowboy hauling a golf cart yesterday (11-12-22) over the harbor bridge and along crosstown. It looked like the golf cart was having an ultra rough ride lol I tried to signal you about the seats on the golf cart nearly bouncing off several times. But you were unaware. Safe travels. I think the last one is an accident waiting to happen. Time will tell, but those two 5/8 head bolts are not going to hold up to 16-20k religiously.

    On the curt 30k, the head to side bracket bolts are not long enough. Those are locknuts,and you can see the blue neoprene plastic and the end of the bolt MUST pass through that in order to lock. The bolts are short.

    We are making the switch from a TT to a 5th W. I was all set to use the Reece Goosebox and then I saw this the other day. Which do think will be the better way to go? We have a 2020 Sierra 2500HD AT4 crew with 6'9" bed. Both seem to allow us to not need a slide hitch since they are set back off center towards the tailgate. .

      @rjterry21 Před rokem +1

      I have an A25 puck in my RAM. Love the hitch. I wouldn't trade it unless perhaps they had a head that fit the base as well as I don't like the way their GN attaches with just float plates. I also double tow and dropping to a 20K hitch isn't necessarily palatable.

    • @keithgehrke3588
      @keithgehrke3588 Před rokem

      If you are speaking about the bed clearance at the "tail gate" and it's not a hitch issue it;s a Truck/Trailer issue, newer heaver suspension with bigger tires make the truck sit higher, the trailer however still sits at the same height causing the clearance to be tight at the tail gate, if you increase the height of the hitch you do get extra clearance but you still have the issue of the trailer not sitting level and causing an unsafe towing condition, the correct adjustment would be to increase the height of the trailer to sit level with the truck and when that is done you will have the proper clearance needed.
