We have both a gooseneck stock trailer and a 5th wheel camper and we hate the gooseneck! It takes longer to hitch and have to climb into the bed to connect the chains. Also you can see the 5th wheel to hitch but not the goose ball. You have to go up and over the ball than after it is lined up let it down on the ball. With a 5th wheel you simply back in and put the pin in the handle and you are good to go.

I run a 6 1/2 foot bed with pullrite gooseneck ball 5th wheel hitch. I love it.

Really like the ease of adjustment and tear down/reassemble of the M30 (curt) that you can order with Ram.

Hey JD, Laser likes the Sidewinder, too. Do a video, you'd be surprised how smoothly it tows with zero sway. While towing at speed, you never turn sharply enough to make the 22" offset an issue. Maneuvering into a tight campsite space is much easier with the Sidewinder and a short bed truck. Thank you for another great video.

Great videos, thank you. Just a friendly note, if you’re looking at equipment and the folks who developed it are there, maybe just ask them to tell us how it works first, then add your comments after the explanation. Cheers

Would love to see you do a video on the maintenance required on fifth wheel hitches and how often it should be performed. I use the curt A16

I've been running an Andersen Ultimate 5th wheel hitch for 4 years. Still extremely happy with it on a 14,000 lb fifth wheel.

Wish the Anderson hitch was mentioned. Have it and love it. Super simple to install and remove. No rails since it connects to the goose ball. Also it is light!! At 35-40 pounds it is incredible. Use it with a DRW and 40' Vilano. BTBRV had reviewed in the past with Mr. Truck very favorably. Maybe it will be covered on part 2.

I use the Reese Sidewindeer on a 30ft Cougar / 2005 F250 6ft bed for the last six years never had a sway problem.

Awesome, man I bet that you are having fun there just like a kid in the candy store, looking and seeing all of the new cool gadget, it looks like that Blue Ox fifth wheel hitch would be too low to hook up a pin box to me it looks like that it should be a little taller.

I had a 2006 F250hd eight foot bed crew cab up until 2 years ago. I sold it and bought a 2017 2500hd Chevrolet Silverado crew cab with a shortbed. I had a Resse regular hitch in the Ford. I pull a 2013 Montana 38 feet fith. I noticed right off the rail height difference, wow what have I gotten myself into. So I took a whole lot of measurements and found the trailer was going to be nose high and could possibly hit my rear rails. Also due to being a shortbed my turning would be limited. After doing alot of research I decided to go with the Patriot Superglide 2700. But I still had a clearance problem so I installed the Correct track lifts which brought me to level. Haven't looked back my reversing into tight sites is fantastic so much better than my old truck. As for removing the hitch I bought a engine lift from Harbor Freight and Demco hitch tool which can be used on any pin hitch. I modified the engine hoist by extending the arm out 12 inches with 1/4 inch thick by 3 foot pipe to reach the the hitch with the tailgate down. I can reinstall the hitch in under twenty minutes and remove in fifteen minutes.

The airborne sidewinder doesn't change the point where the weight is placed, just where it pivots. So while the pivot will be closer to a conventional tow, the weight is still right about the rear axle (or close to it). When conventional towing putting 20% tongue weight on the hitch ball has a significant lever effect on the tow vehicle reducing the weight on the front axle. This makes for light steering and poor braking. However the sidewinder still keeps that 20% tongue weight over the rear axle making the lever effect very close to 0. For those used to towing a conventional trailer it may help as well because the trailer will be more responsive to truck movements than a standard goose or 5th. That is the one area that I could see it producing more sway. Not because of the location of the tongue weight being changed, but because the pivot point being further back makes smaller tow vehicle movements more pronounced on the trailer.

I run a REESE 30k on my F550 because my tow can run up to 28k, but I wish I could use the 25k B&W Companion on the goose ball because it's so versatile.

We traded our 2019 GD Reflection 5th wheel with a Reese Goosebox gen1 hitch for a 2022 GD Solitude. We loved the Reese hitch so much that we ordered a gen 2 Reese hitch for our new rig. Come to find out the new Reese Goosebox hitch will Not fit on our new GD Solitude. We ended up going with a B&W Companion hitch. I’ve only towed it once with this new hitch and I must admit so far I am pleasantly surprised at how well it tows over the gooseneck/ball setup. I need more trips for a full evaluation.

Timely video! I'm researching hitches right now and am debating between a B&W companion and the Goosebox v3 or gen Y. I'll be pulling a 20k toy hauler full time with a 2016 F350 dually.
