- We are so used to power that we forget that it isn’t even a century old. In 1925, only half of all US homes had electricity. Without it, nothing would be possible today. The light in your room, the refrigerator, store signs, and credit cards: they all need electricity to run. So, how did people live without it? Did our cities lie in complete darkness?

Crazy how much we take things like electricity for granted
I never knew so much about electricity !! Thanks so much about posting!! I can’t wait to c what’s next!!
Intresting topic to talk about
Amazing. Keep up brightening up minds.
There is a power outage in my neighbourhood right now, and this video literally released 3 minutes before the power went out. Be honest now… did you arrange this? 🤔

Looking on the 😎 side. 🌆
Today it is recommended to use flashlights when their is a power outage, but if you must use candles be careful with them
Thanks for this great video..Really the invention of electricity is the ultimate invention in the modern world. Nowadays we can't even think of surviving without electricity..It has become our part of life now..
It's crazy to think about all the things we have now & take for granted are still relatively new, people should be more grateful for what we have
Robert Louis Stevenson's famous collection of children's poems includes "The Lamplighter."
I'd like to know more about fluorescent light. (When you turn the switch, why does it take a moment to come on?)
Awesome!

Electricity existed a century ago tho
Okay, so when did AMERICA have electric streetlights?
1890. In Manhattan.
@@kylevalucky1003Okay. Cause he only talks about London and Europe.
Was better without all the light pollution and wasted energy
why
@@tonyisnotdead because there's no need for everything to be lit up like it is,it looks way more calm and peaceful with lower light a bit like why most people sleep with the lights off.
All you hear about now is rising energy costs and power cuts etc,so why on earth is everywhere lit up like a Christmas tree?
@@notmanynamesleft i personally love the bright lights. dont you think that instead of cutting energy we should instead focus on building a dyson sphere so we have too much energy to worry about waste?
It was better before electricity
yes, a less connected, a less free, and a less populated society is better. im sure you would love travelling for months just to visit another country or living a much more unhealthy and shorter life, or having few choices for work, having very few choices for entertainment and never seeing technological advancements in your entire lifetime, so you die knowing that humanity never evolved and just stayed stagnant because of pathetic traditionalist values
So True before electricity i cant even imagine what the sky would look like without light pollution
@@krazyzpydarr4767 you think life was better without the use of electricity because of the sky? that's extremely selfish
