Low res tv back then, they figured nobody would notice. Good job as always Rick.
Yes, it’s fun to find them out now with the HD quality on our side 😊
Yes, in the 60s you would have never seen it.
Prayers and hugs to you Annie! Rick gives us many smiles in his videos!
I just prayed for Annie's health. I also wanted to say that Get Smartwas always one of my favorite shows as a kid along with Batman and Star Trek and Gun Smoke. Thanks for dedicating this episode to Annie, I pray she gets well, soon.
❤❤❤
❤❤❤
GET WELL SOON ANNIE!!
God bless you Annie. Get well soon. 🙏 ❤
❤❤❤
Praying for her. I loved this episode. I never noticed it before. Thanks for the reveal.
You are so welcome
Annie, we wish you all the very best in life and pray for your complete healing.
💐 🙏 💐
This episode reminds me of the Gilligan's Island episode Up At Bat. I have all 138 Get Smart episodes on DVD, and remember seeing this.
You’re so right! It has a very similar vibe and I love it
Annie, keep on keeping on.
May the Lord bless you Annie and soon gives you back your strength.Praying 🙏🙏🙏
❤❤❤
Sending warm vibes to Annie. Get better soon! ❤
Thanks Rick. Get Smart is an all time favorite of mine and I never noticed that. I recall the episode well and definitely like the creepiness of it. Question - is Get Smart playing anywhere currently?
Not that I am aware of. I saw it on Streaming a whole back and it was taken off shortly after.
@@ricknineg Thanks, Rick. I have the DVDs but my machine is not connected to my main TV. So many old shows are on Roku, etc. I was hoping. Hey, Moonlighting finally made it to streaming (Hulu) so anything is possible. Long live Max, 99 and of course the Chief!
Love stuff like this. They go to great lengths to make it look real and one little slip-up exposes the truth. Keep up the great work.
Absolutely!
Praying for you Annie!
One of my favorite episodes. I have probably seen it at least 100 times and never noticed it before.
Annie, get stronger and get well soon! Many are praying for you!
There you go. Much better (and honest) title than "You're going to have a heart attack when you see this shocking scene!"
It’s always fun to watch shows and notice things like this. I hope you’re doing well and are having a great day. Keep up the great work and take care!
Thanks! You too!
I love Get Smart. Annie i believe you said your friends name was. I'll have her in my prayers 🙏.
Annie every time I hear Rick’s voice it brightens my day , and I wish the very same for you… a little sunshine for you ☀️🌸!
❤❤❤
Thoughts and prayers with you Annie !!
Get better Annie. 🙏
Best wishes for a full recovery, Annie!
Get well soon, Annie! 🤗I remember this episode. I never noticed the background blooper though.
In the opening of sequence of get Get Smart where Max drives up to Control Headquarters driving his red Sunbeam sports, parks at the red curb and you see a trash can in the passenger seat always makes me chuckle.
Haha 😂 🗑
Get well soon 🎉
Hadn't noticed it. Get Smart was one of my favorite shows. Maybe the camera operator was a bit confused with the safe area. Even in a Monk episode, the camera operator panned too high once, exposing a wall of the soundstage where the police office set was. Caught a glimpse of an overhead lamp on Mannix a few days ago. It happens, and is fun to discover these types of bloopers.
You mentioned "Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein," which was filmed at the same Florida theme park, at the same time, by the same studio, as "Mister Peabody and the Mermaid." Since both Glenn Strange (the monster) and Ann Blyth (the mermaid) had to stay in costume all day, visitors to the theme park reported seeing Frankenstein's monster eating lunch with a mermaid.
A lot of TV shows have bloopers showing parts of the sound stage or other technical aspects like shadows from cameras or boom microphones. One of the reasons why we see it more often is because of the aspect ratio. Originally screen size ratios were 4:3 (original TV format) and now they are 16:9 (modern TV format). With the bigger ratio, we get to see a lot of things that would have been hidden (i.e. never meant to be seen) with the smaller ratio and that is why we get to see most of these secret filming techiniques.
Back then you had 1sec to notice it and another second during the rerun in the summer. No VHS, DVDR. Since I was 8 I liked his Sunbeam and I tried to remember how the doors opened.
Many things that I notice I see on the first watch and not even have the video slowed down. It catches my eye
@@ricknineg I never would have thought that, amazing. If I happen upon a goof it is after a couple views.
Just watched a random video because there's a 1966 Plymouth Fury in it. Yes I love Get Smart, and anything Mel Brooks related
My all time favorite sitcom.
You’re in my thoughts and prayers, Annie. 🙏♥️
@sallyn2393 Annie.🙏
I never did watch alot of Get Smart. The ones I remember were very funny 😁 Thanks Rick 😊 I am trying to be hopeful as I go through struggles.
Many thoughts and prayers 🙏 go out to your friend Annie. ❤
❤
“It was funny and I hate laughter, so naturally I refused to watch it…”
That’s what I read.
If they were in a thunderstorm, Don Adam's hand is on top of the door which means the window is down. It should be up. Haven't seen this particular episode but am a fan of the show.
Hope Ms Annie feels better soon. ❣️
God bless you, Annie. Get well soon.
Best to you Annie 😊
May God be a healer for you Annie!🙏🏽❤
Wow, they were really off with that camera angle. I hope Annie feels better!
I hope you get well soon, Annie. Best wishes to you.
Dear Annie, hoping for the best and that you will get well soon.
Editing and reshooting were tedious tasks, besides, if CZcams and Rick Nineg had been around back then, somebody would have said, "Go back and shoot it again, ya'll know Rick Nineg will be all over this."😂
😆 yes!
Get well Annie we're all pulling for you.
missed a blooper: chess board scene has board oriented 90 degrees. (players both should have closest far left square being dark/black). good show!
Before I comment, I want to support Rick’s wish for all of us to give Annie our best wishes and prayers for her care. Stay strong Annie! Good times are still ahead! ❤️
As for this episode and it’s Halloween at Christmas time theme, I hear it inspired Tim
Burton to create a similar theme for The Nightmare Before Christmas. The internet never lies! 😉
Ok, being serious now, let me pose this question to you Rick. Was it really a blooper? The way Maxwell Smart was looking up at the exposed set, makes me wonder if the writers wanted to add more scare by showing Maxwell the world he thought was real at the time, was actually fake? Throwing off his sense of reality? Like a Twilight Zone episode? 🤔
Regardless, great video and I am definitely looking up this episode! 🧛♂️
❤❤❤
Nice catch
Prayers for Annie.
@Rick, I hope one day you'll do some Monkees bloopers. There's some wild ones, noticed and unnoticed.
It's a fun episode anyway, not least because of the casting. Martin Kosleck, who played "Dr Drago," is of course well-known for his roles in various "B" horror movies of the 1940s, such as "House of Horrors" and "She-Wolf of London."
Yeah… Noticed that long ago. Amazing they didn’t crop the shot in editing, but.. Oh well. Ads to the fun!
Hope all will be well for Annie. We’re all going through our own struggles, so know that you’re not alone.
😁
Totally adds to the fun! 😊
@@ricknineg WOULD YOU BELIEVE… In season 4’s, “One Nation Invisible” episode, the wires (Fishing line?) used for an invisible effect are clearly visible, & even seem to be just left hanging, loosely. (It’s in the bar scene, where Max is meeting an invisible Dr. Canyon, inventor of an invisibility spray.) Enjoy! 😁
Often when something like this is discovered, it's too expensive, or there's not enough time to re-shoot the scene.
One of my favorite TV shows growing up! Thank you!!
Feel better soon Annie
Get well Annie !!!
Great channel!!!👏
All thanks to great supporters like yourself
Take care, Annie. Hang tough.
Get well soon, Annie.
Thanks Nick. Regards from Australia 🦘🇦🇺🤓
Did you ever notice the carpet in the living room on the Dick van Dyke show? It was cut at a weird angle so they could move that section to roll the camera forward for scenes taking place at the front door. The loose rough seam is easy to see on today's tv's and looks weird.
Great video Rick thanks for sharing always helpful and informative
@CadeEvans I agree Cade! Hope you are well. Take care.
Keep Rockin’ Annie!❤️
OMG! Im deeply touched by so many prayers, gracious, kind words awa encouragement from you all and especially RICK! I'm humbled and deeply thankful for such true concern and love given to me! ❤❤❤ My prelim test results are pretty good so far! I will know more after tuesday!
👍🏻😎"Get smart!"😎👍🏻
❤ Rick Nineg's videos!❤
2:15 Cue Rocky Horror (Picture) Show
Annie I hope you are doing better, prayers for you.
Praying for Annie. I hope she gets better. What kind of car does Max and 99 pull up to the castle in?
❤❤❤
Praying for Annie 🙏
All the best Annie. much like Scooby Doo, the monsters are never real.
Get well Annie!
When television sets had picture tubes, the far edges were hidden by the frame since the picture wasn't clear there. I suspect in editing they assumed it was close enough to the edge of the shot that it would largely be hidden and not noticed.
I think in other words, we see the top of the set
Really like your channel. Any chance you can use clips instead of just stills?
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Annie 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Reminds me of “Rocky Horror Picture Show.”
Oh, they probably did spot it in editing. By the time they did, it was too expensive to fix. They edited film frame by frame in those days. They couldn't re-shoot because the set was already gone. In TV production 5 minutes after shooting was done they were tearing down and rebuilding for the next shot. All they could do is keep your eye focused on the foreground action.
❤great
You’re great too, Mike!
@@ricknineg thanks love get smart 😎
How long did the lightup last in the actual episode?
I noticed that
Missed it by that much...
One of the many good shows I grew up with. I was always fascinated by the nightmare quality of The Outer Limits. Of course I loved the secret agent stuff, too. Funny or not. Like The Avengers. yada-yada.
The reason no one noticed these errors has little to do with resolution or aspect ratios and everything to do with the frames of old televisions and monitors. There's an entire section of a cathode ray tube television covered by a frame. Everything inside that frame is called the "overscan area." For decades this part of the image was virtually invisible because it was hidden. It was only when they were converted to digital video and watched on computers or modern televisions that this hidden part of the screen was finally revealed. Sadly, many people don't know about this, and think these are bloopers or mistakes. It's not a mistake, you just were never supposed to see it. These days, you can see all sorts of things at the edges of the screen in old shows, even unfinished drawings in cartoons. It is neat, but, it DOES break the illusion of what you are watching, and there isn't a good solution to this. If we crop the image or put a frame around it, people will complain about not getting the full image. Modern televisions do have an option to zoom in slightly and crop the overscan area, but that doesn't work for a 4:3 picture on a 16:9 tv because you can still see the left and right sides.
😊😊😊😊😊
Thank you!
What episode is this one?
u know ed platt offed himself [1974]
😮😢😢😢
Great clip but yes it wouldn't have been noticed as it only appears in lightning flash and most if not everyone would have been watching the red car (red attracts your eye), 'Max' and '99'. But yes it does show how things were done and how well the blue screen works at 'night'. I don't think the editor could have fixed it given the technology at the time. plus you have to remember the Aspect Ration then was 4:3 giving a square appearance and with 4:3 the sides are higher than 16:9, so if you did try to 'crop', 'cover' or remove the top you would have had a black horizontal line or similar going across the top which would be even more noticeable, especially if the other shots in the whole episode don't have the 'line'. No, just leave it as it is and no one will really notice; not even now.
missed it by that much🤌, of course the old outdoors inside trick
Annie, keep on keeping on.
