New Auto Meter Tachometer! 5 inch sport comp

- I got new Auto Meter tachometer for my 1968 Dodge Dart. After my last race I realized the gains with improved shifting so a new tach was in order. This is the auto moneyed sport comp and it is a 5. Inch monster! With Austin meter shift light to nail the shifts. Gunna work great in my 68 dart power by a mopar small block, 360 mopar 360 dodge engine.

It's a bad grade not an up grade.
This car is no longer as the maker intended it to be.
It would have been better off just starting a fresh build instead of wasting time and money.

I waaant one of those tachs now! Looks super cool, mine is mounted in my floor console on my B body and I hate having to look down to see my red line. It would be cool to have a shift light and mount it on my column as well. Another great video!!👍👍

That thing is big but it fits with your car, compliments the other gauges. I’m on the fence about getting a set of modern gauges, my stock ones don’t read well

No solid plans with Covid still around. 1/4 mile is far away but I hear a new 1/8 mile may be opening up in the future that would be accessible. Short track racing in March again.

Can you join the white wire to the yellow one and connect it to the acc wire ?
That is one sweet looking car👍 can I ask the cam specs? I’m guessing you don’t have enuf vacuum for power brakes?
It’s a solid roller 248/252 @ 50 610-615 lift with the adjusted rockers ratio. Check out my dyno vid for full engine build info. Haven’t ever checked vacuum don’t have power brakes.
hi how can u calibrate that tacho?
I always set mine 200 rpm below my shift point, by the time I react I’m around my actual rpm.
Had to say l secretly love Cragar SS wheels!!!!! My Cragar Superlightts are cool to me, But l may reconsider after looking at yours for a dozen vids.👍

Do you know the shift light bulb size for monster tach? and where can I purchase the bulb?
I don’t know the size of the bulb. Came with the tach. Check with autometer or summit racing.
Even at night I leave the yellow cover on. The shift light is bright as f. I did drill out the nipple in the center of the cap a little so a crack of light comes through. Also, my rev limiter is set at 6600 so I set my tach light to come on at 6500. When I see the light i shift and it just cracks the MSD limiter. Oh and I have my tach rotated so 6600 is strait up and down. That way I know where that needle is at.

I’m trying to build my 1974 Plymouth Duster 360 magnum. The motor is from a 1993 Dodge Ram. It’s a 5.9 360 magnum. Any help with what I would have to put in the motor? This is my first build. Not not sure on what needs to be in the motor for a street and strip car. Please let me know what to do. Thank you.

Nice, now you get another camera to see where you are shifting AT. set video to see your hand and when light comes on. i would shift earlier and saw my car go just as quick

Is it worth putting a gauge on a auto?!
A tach is one of the most critical instruments to have in any car, regardless of transmission type.

Don't you wish they made a 5" inch tac that went to 8 grand? I couldn't find one, and bought 2 ten granders. They were on sale for $99.95, so got one in silver, one in black. Just clocked 7 grand towards the top. Enjoy.

Autometer makes a ton of 8 grand monster tachs (i have one in my car). They even make a six grand monster for diesels. They just weren't on sale for a hundred bucks. Great price, by the way.
