Sadly, this club is now closed, a casualty of Covid19 and the fact that the local council are building a new leisure centre and lawn bowls is not going to be part of the new centre when it is built. I have now moved to Camberley Indoor Bowling Club.
Great information as always Alec. Thank you. I have almost completed my first outdoor season at Didcot and am looking to join South Oxfordshire indoors for the winter so this advice is very timely.
Best of luck indoors, it is quite a different game, same rules (mostly) but harder to get the weight right and a much wider line, but once you get that right you will love it. Let me know how you get on.

Alec, Nice job on the video. Your indoor facility looks really nice. Too bad it may be gone in a couple of years. We have outdoor bowling in Milwaukee, nothing indoor like this. The only indoor bowling is bowling at pins. ...Gary
Thanks Gary, Yes it will be a great shame when it closes. We hope to persuade the local council to invest in a stand-alone bowls centre, but nothing definite has been decided yet. But we live in hope.
It's a shame on the closure and good luck on getting your own facility. 60+ will have to take up "spinning", not!
Hi Steve, what a good question. To be honest I am possibly not the best person to ask as I have never been a keen singles player. I prefer team games. But here are a few of the key points. Firstly focus, the best singles players tend to be able to keep focus even when things look bad. Also, be patient, you only need one shot each end. Don't panic! if you are 2-3 down on an end, still try to cut down the score, even if you do not get the shot, as games are lost by dropping 3's and 4's, not single shots. And if you are a couple of shots down do not fire, as then you will be three down, because you bet he will draw again. Firing should be a very last resort. Generally, if you draw, you win, once you start firing you have lost. So lastly, three most important things,, draw, draw, draw. :)

I use DP Professional outdoors and Aero Defiance indoors mostly, unless I skip then I use DP's again. Depends on how fast the green is. If I lead I stick to my Aero's
