  • This video is all about Touchers. Although fairly straight forward, there is a lot to go through, so I don't rush it, I explain fully about how a bowl becomes a toucher and why it can be useful if you have one on the green.
    Alec.

      Hi Alec, Plan to visit New Zealand with a team and I will arrange bowling games around New Zealand clubs. I will arrange airport pick up and transport around clubs and tournaments in the clubs. Please let me know. Cheers - Ran (Randy) from NZ.

    Hi Alec great to see your videos again. I always find them very informative and helpful though I might have to watch this a few times for it to sink in 😀. Cheers Nigel

      Thanks Nige. To be honest it took longer than I wanted, but there is a lot to cover, so rather than cut it and miss something out I stuck with it. I hope it all makes sense. 😬

    Thank you for another interesting and informative video. As a new bowler these videos are my go to guide to the game. Some really helpful examples given from your experiences too. Love the team jacket, much better than the plain white.

    Very good video. Although i knew all/most of it, was still great to watch.
    I had a strange occurance happen in a match the other day where we had 2 tied ends. Never seen it happen before and had 2 in 1 match. We ended up winning but was a close game.

      Thanks Declan. Yes, two tied ends in one game is a rare occurrence indeed. 😁

    Thanks Alec as usual a really helpful video, have been playing a few years and learnt plenty! Will you be going to watch any of the Commonwealth Games bowls at Leamington?

      Hi Andy, thanks. I hope to go but I am not sure when yet. If not, I will go to the Nationals. It’s a great day out. 😁

    Hi Alec, great info and explanation again. Question for you please, what if the jack goes sideways onto another rink and not in the ditch. Is the end stopped or something else? Thanks

    • @LawnBowlsforFun
      @LawnBowlsforFun  Před rokem +1

      Hi Brian, In outdoor play, the end is replayed. Indoors, the jack is placed on the re-spot to keep the game going, as they are often time limited games, 2 hours usually. Good question. Maybe a vid of that? :)

    Hey Alec I'm Australian my 14 year old son plays lead in div 5 pennent and he also plays in the open , B grade, and c grade singles he is getting himself ready to play the all the singles championships he entered he just wants me to ask you how to play a good drive so he can use it in the singles when he plays and he also wants to ask you is there a difference your bowling greens in England and our bowling greens in Australia 🇦🇺

      Hi Melissa, it sounds like your son is doing really well. Firstly, the greens in the UK and Australia are quite different, although so have never bowled there myself. Generally the greens in the UK are much slower. Currently my home green runs at 11-12 seconds, which is fast for us as we have had a very dry spell, but compared to what you have this is slow. I do know green in Australia run at 15-18 seconds, maybe even faster. At the beginning of the season our green can be under 10 seconds. As for firing, as a rule of thumb I halve the aiming point (line) for controlled weight, but halve if again to fire. But if anyone can fire at a very fast pace (which I can’t do) it could be the line is directly at the target. I feel it is always worth practicing to see what line works for you, although the pace of each green may have an impact. A practice session on that would be very much worth it. I hope this helps. 😁
