I'm dying laughing - Brian, I was at the corporate event gala that you did at Music City Center & AFTER you were done performing we were like, "wait, who was that?" We had no idea you were performing a comedy act! I felt so bad. Someone asked, "is this somebody's youth pastor giving a testimony?" We simply just did NOT understand! I remember we could barely hear you & the energy level was still so low. Way to stick through it! We actually did all tear it up on the dance floor later...I apologize for the terrible energy from our crowd! We all needed to mingle & have a few drinks first! (& maybe a louder mic)

Hey Bear! I’m pretty sure it is illegal in most places to throw rice at weddings anymore. I’ve always heard the reason is because birds will eat the raw rice grains, drink water, and then the rice would expand in their stomachs and cause them to burst. Which is not ideal. I got married in 2004 and our two projectile options were bird seed and bubbles. This podcast is the highlight of my week! Keep up the good work, friends!!

In college (a Bible college), I took a Global Perspectives course. The professor was a former middle eastern missionary in his 50s. One day, we walked into class, and he was sitting up front in a desk silently looking at us. Class began by him slowly holding up his middle finger and moving it side-to-side to ensure every single one of us received the message. We were initially taken aback until he asked, "What gesture did I do that was most offensive?" We knew something was up besides the finger, and at that point, an upperclassmen who had been on a trip with him before said, "You showed us the sole of your shoe." Sure enough, he was sitting cross-legged and exposing his sole. It was the first of many eye-opening examples of cultural differences that he presented that day. You all were spot on with the cultural equivalent of the shoe sole being the finger.

I remember last summer Nate mentioned he swung up through Montana during his tour and went hiking. Nate mentioned he wanted to somehow fir a Montana show in. I think it would be a great trip for the whole crew, maybe like collage game day, final state he hasn’t performed in, podcast on location. I am no tour manager but this is how I would sneak it in. Do a show in Spokane Washington. After the show drive a couple of hours west to Missoula Montana. Once in Missoula take the day for everyone to see the sites. First for Laura and Harper, a quick 90 minute drive south to see the Chief Jospeh Ranch south of Darby where they film the ranch for the show Yellowstone. On the way back to Missoula, Nate and the crew could stop by the Stockfarm golf course and get a quick 18 in while everyone not wanting to golf could explore the town of Hamilton. The group could grab dinner in Lolo on the way back to Missoula at the Lolo Creek Steakhouse. Just west of the steak house, Brian can relive his childhood when he traveled with Louis and Clark over Lolo pass on their trip to discover the west(Breakfast is old). Once back in Missoula Aaron could take in a Missoula Paddleheads baseball game and pick up one of their great looking hats. The next day the whole BAND could perform in Missoula before heading out down I90 to Bozeman. Once in Bozeman, Dusty and the gang could take in the Museum of the Rockies on the Montana State University Campus. He can learn all about the dinosaurs that lived in Montana. The BAND then could perform in Bozeman before heading to Billings. Once they leave Bozeman, they group could take in the Great Grizzly Encounter and see live Grizzlies. The group could finish with a show in Billings as they head out of the state into Wyoming. Honestly, if they only have time for once town in Montana, please make it Missoula!

Your favorite high school math teacher here (Self declared). When the discussion came up about percent chance of rain, Aaron mentioned that it had nothing to do with probability. Unfortunately, he is incorrect. This is geonetric probability. If there is a 20% chance of rain, then if you randomly select a spot in the area, then there is a 20% probabilty that spot has rain. So, weather forcasts use probability. Just in an unique way. Love you guys.

I'm excited for Nate to get to go to Alaska, even if it is only to prove that it is not just a "Big Man's" vacation spot. Hopefully it won't be as Adventure filled as Jim Gaffigan's recent visit to Alaska.
Anyway, it reminded me of when my parents took my sister and I on an Alaskan Cruise in Summer of 1989, (when Brian, "Baklava" Bates & I were but Crisp Young Lads of only 18).
I've always loved photography so Alaska was always my VERY BUCKETIEST of all bucketlist destinations.
Our cruise went from Wednesday to Wednesday up Alaska's Inside passage. Sunday, during that week, happened to fall on the day that we were docked in the Port of Sitka, Alaska.
Believe it or not, Sitka was the Capital of Russia long before Moscow was, before the United States purchased the territory from them for like 59 pennies, 2 nickels, and Jimmy Carter lookin' potato chip.
Anyway, being a very devote Christian as my father was and as we had been raised to be my father decided that being that it was Sunday we needed to find church services to attend. So we were told to put on our best clothes that we brought on the cruise, which on a cruise is essentially Formal Wear, and we climbed in a taxi for a 2 1/2 hour drive to a Trapper's cabin where a total of about 10 people were holding church services that day. The presiding priesthood there was wearing dirty jeans, a very dirty John Deere tractor t-shirt and suspenders and everybody there looked at us like we were not only from out of town but possibly From Another Dimension, maybe even from some sort of Civilian station. But, what they lacked in traditional Church attire they made up for in an absolute and complete lack of brevity. This meeting went on for almost 2 hours. So, when you factor that in with the drive back to the boat. We missed any sightseeing in Sitka that might have been available. And , remembering that this used to be the capital of Russia , Sitka looked like a miniature Moscow. The buildings had that look to them that made it look like they were perhaps dispensed from a Dairy Queen ice cream machine. So, I do regret having missed that day of sightseeing. And I guarantee that the Christian Services that we were attending did not have a chance of overpowering the non-Christian feelings we are having about the way our day was turning out.
If you get the opportunity to do the Misty Fjord tours I would recommend that highly, also your little buddy Aaron probably has some great ideas for what to go see. Also, do not leave Alaska without the chance to wrestle a Kodiak bear all by yourself. That is an an experience that you'll never forget.

Maybe Nate could turn some of his favorite shoes into golf spikes. (Let me know if you want me to email you a photo)

Have been waiting for Nate to come to MT since I found his comedy years ago. Had to drive the 6 hours to see him in Casper last fall, and held out until last week to buy tickets to his show in Idaho Falls hoping that there would be a show announced in Bozeman the following night. The days after the show in Casper we were seeing him and Dustin Chafin post pictures from hikes and places in/around Bozeman that I know all too well. We do have direct flights to Bozeman from Nashville Nate, Blackwater Bayou Bear, Aaron and Dusty! I know that Dusty loves Montana and should probably spend time here between his September shows in WA.

Hello Folks! This summer while working I decided to go back and Listen to some of the older episodes that I have missed. I really enjoyed listening to the Olympics episode and, thought it was interesting y'all failed to mention Jesse Owens shocking the world and Hitler in the 1936 Olympics. Hitler stormed out of the arena like a child when his fellow Germans lost the race. In Nateland fashion though, y'all some how found a way to bring it up in the "shoes" episode. You four never disappoint keep up the good work gentlemen!!

Love the podcast, been a huge fan since the start when Nate struggled to pronounce magnate even though the second half of the word is literally his own name. I'm the same age as he is and my second car was a used 1973 Ford Ranchero with an AM only radio so they definitely existed. I eventually had a CD changer installed, which probably sounds as old-school to kids now as an AM radio did to me then. Please keep the laughs coming! - Matthew

The commencement speaker at my college graduation was Paul Winter who won multiple Grammy’s for a style of music he calls earth music. The big culminating moment of his speech was when he brought out instruments and played the sounds of the whales.

    A couple things:
1- Nate, can you please go watch Shawshank already. Watch it Sunday night so its fresh in your mind for the podcast.
2- Im suprised that back in 2020, when coronavirus was in every conversation, no ESPN analyst or any sports media person ever talked about Jordans "flu game" might have caused someones grandma to die or something. They said that same kind of thing about players playing during covid.
    Thoughts? Dusty?

I once had tickets to a Bobcats game and me and my brother got to go back court. Michael Jordan walked past us and we have always been huge fans of his. We literally couldn’t talk. I’ve never experienced that before or since, it was like a Greek god walked by. He stopped and grabbed my brothers hat (a Duke hat) and just said “That’s the wrong shade of blue.” And kept walking. We freaked out like we just had a full conversation with him. LeBron doesn’t have that kind of presence. End of debate, Jordan will forever be the GOAT.

Hey Bear. Amazing that today you're talking about fast food Door Dash/McDonalds. Having listened to the show consistently for the past year, hearing Nate's unending love for Mickey D (including as a last meal), I broke down today and got 2 cheeseburgers, fries, and sweet tea. Sorry Nate, this is just not what I grew up with. The signature french fries were brutal and the burgers earn a D+.

Regarding Tennis balls and relationships -- When my brother was dating his wife he spent a lot of time playing and rough housing with her many younger brothers. After an afternoon at her house one of her brothers took off sprinting down the hallway with a tennis ball in hand (imagine Nate going for a dunk) towards my brother on the couch next to his girlfriend. When he was close enough he lept into the air and hurled the ball at my brother with all the force he could muster. The ball sailed directly into my brothers unmentionables, causing him to collapse for a good five minutes. PS -- don't worry, they now have 3 kids.
