Another French Canadian from Québec here! I have to put the subtitles from youtube, pause every 10 minutes to look up a word and it takes me one hour to write a comment...but it’s totally worth it!
Can we get Myriam some likes on her singing videos?
Haha Nicolas you’re too kind. It’s in french, nobody would get it 🤪
I’ve definitely learned more during this episode than any other episode with 100% thanks to Graham Kay. He is so knowledgeable. I could listen to him spit out facts and give historical references all day. Is he married? Asking for a friend..... in all seriousness, loved this episode. I love every episode. Don’t ever stop!
The fact that Nate comes right out of the gate mispronouncing “herbivorous” as a dinosaur called “Herb-a-vor-aus” is absolutely phenomenal. Thank you all for the great entertainment each and every week. God bless!
A full on dinosaur episode would be Ba-Roo-Tal for Nate
Hola Folks! Big fan from the Dominican Republic! Took me 22 days since I found out about the podcast to listen to every episode. Said I would celebrate by writing my first comment! Thanks for laughs and the clean comedy!
If the 3 of you were vegetables, Aaron would be the onion. Seems simple enough, but its actually layered, and can be prepared a number of different ways yielding distinct tastes and textures. Brian would be cilantro. You never eat it by itself, lots of people say it tastes like soap, but its an integral part of a lot of great dishes. Nate would be the potato. Not much on paper but it's the greatest average American vegetable.
Now this is a great comment. Love it!
Nailed it
I am fully convinced that Aaron is secretly sneaking off to Planet Fitness all the time and working out. He’s been looking slimmer by the episode. Gigs up Aaron, you can’t fool us.
I thought the same, looking good.
Agreed
He’s getting married soon. Also, Nate mentioned they’ve had a trainer coming to the house to work with them. It’s showing on Aaron. When’s it going to start showing for Nate? 🤣
Vertical stripes
This guy is tall, funny, and smart. He's taking Nateland in a direction that this show really wasn't built for. I like my comedians simple from simple states. 'Merica
This episode felt like it was an actual educational podcast! Graham was the most knowledgeable guest you have had by far! Great episode, love the show!
I'm positive; at least one french Canadian from the 8.5M people in Quebec do listen to your podcast since the beginning! Keep up the good work folks!
Good fishn’ in Quebec👍🏻
We're at least two! :)
I love watching Bandicoot holding up his sheet of paper while everyone is talking like "hey guys, I got some really cool facts here if you stop talking!!".
I think Graham had the majority of the facts this time and bingo looked annoyed, like his cookie had been stolen😁
Great time hearing about the Great White North! I'd love to hear you guys do an episode about " team mascots".
Guests for the state episodes have been Ray, Slay, Shay and kay. maybe pennsylvania next, with big jay?
And Yannis Pappas for New York so......
"I wish we had a way to Google it." Not even 15 mins in and Bench warmer lighting people up.
It was a good one. I'm not sure they noticed what he said at all.
As a proud Canadian from Saskatchewan, it was nice to hear my province get a shout out. Nate, almost everyone mispronounces it so you get a pass. It is always cold and winter here, but no polar bears. The fact that there are so many in Churchill makes me want to go more. If that’s how I go, I’m strangely ok with it. Awesome episode.
This past weekend my husband and I were in Indy to see Nate and we actually got to meet Graham. We saw him walking around with a guy that looked like Nate, but was actually Nate's friend from high school. Anyway, Graham was a really nice guy and we enjoyed chatting with him for a few minutes. After we left we thought it would be fun if they did a Nateland on Canada with Graham as a guest. Guess they were reading our minds. Great episode guys. Keep it up!
It’s So funny to me, we can barely pronounce the names of different Canadian provinces, but Graham explains each one by telling us how far they are from one of the states on the U.S.
Great episode y’all, really enjoyed how much Canadian knowledge Graham brought to the table!
Sounds like there needs to be a "World's Fair" episode...
Nah
Warms my heart to hear this chat! Edmonton is a wonderful city!
Loved this episode but laughed the hardest when Aaron said, “one fell swoop”
Hey folks! Canadian gal here! I'm a big fan of Nate's comedy and was delighted to find this podcast. I was even more thrilled to watch this Canadian episode. Graham kay was well versed in all things Canadian which made it interesting and fun. I think I even learned things about my own country I didnt know! I grew up in the Okanagan and the Ogopogo was kind of our local mascot for the region. So cool to hear you guys bring it up. I really enjoyed this episode, keep it up!
This is already my favorite episode. As a fellow hockey fan, and beer league goalie, the discussion is right up my alley. Always love the show, but this one speaks to my heart. 🙌🏻
I’m a Newfie Nate and I’m one of your biggest fans! Best part of my week :)
The fact that ya'll pronounce Newfoundland Newfindland is crazy bro
Huge fan of Brian, Aaron, and Nate. I`m from Calgary. Graham keep up the good work. You guys are hilarious
This episode is really weird. I'm entertained...but I also feel like I'm learning.
I am a Newfie as well! And oddly enough I used to live in Nolensville Tennessee. Also a HUGE fan. I've been listening since episode one. Wednesdays are now my favorite day of the week. Listening to your podcast is a great way to start the day 😊 Keep 'em coming!
Kayla Durfey
Brian, I’m glad I finally searched your standup after watching you on Nateland and loved your texting yourself joke. I just did this last week when I woke up at 2am and sent myself a question intending to use it as a reminder to find the answer to the next day. The next day in the middle of the day I looked at my phone and saw the text, not realizing it was from ME, I texted back an answer. then co-workers had to ask why I was laughing so hard after I realized I was answering a middle of the night text to myself.
Also, I’m going to find it hard to believe you’re talking about anyone other than Nate in your stand up when you tell of crazy things “your buddy” said to you.
Um, I think the "street" Nate thinks separates AR from TN is actually called the Mississippi River.
He thinks it is Mississippi Street
@@gregjennings5251 You'd think this would've been obvious after episodes on both AR and TN. But, in Nate's defense, Barge didn't clarify that as a fun fact about either state.
I think he is thinking of Texarkana which straddles Texas and Arkansas.
Had to come rewatch this episode after seeing Graham Kay in Jacksonville. He was hilarious! Thanks for a great show and the best opener.
I think Nate has a great idea with the "Gymbership" comment. My company is creating an online portal for customers to use and i've been pitching the name "Supportal" for a while now. I'm a big fan of merging two words together to make a more efficient, single word.
This guy gets it
Listen to this 1st thing to start on Wednesday shift. Such a big, Thx so much for doing this for us!
Yay!!! Excited for this episode.
“Oh yeah, thanks Graham” at the end was hilarious. Southern hospitality at its finest! 😂😂😂
Hello folks, this conversation ruled!!!! Excellent 👌🏻 thanks a lot for this great content!
Love the show. Thank you!
Whatever Aaron is doing looks good on him.
I'm impressed that Nate knows what "centennial" means. Didn't miss a beat.
If you ever do one about Mexico, bring Franco Escamilla. This would be HILARIOUS! Love the podcast
I love this guy! I hope his caffeinated rambles about Canada are a big part of his stand up. I was dying listening to the Newfoundland accent - so good. 😁 “But in the Lufthansa heist they stole...money” 😂😂 🤣 It was crickets in the room but that dry humor is muah. I’m laughing SO hard over here.
I love fly fishing in Canada. Great episode again! Thanks Gents! 🤗
Another great one guys! Everyone is so cleaver, even Bonny Bates but Kay’s comment “Obliterate your family” has been the best one so far😂.that’ll make me laugh forever
"What would be on an Ontario pizza? Poutine?"
Aaron once again coming in aggressive and offensive towards the guest. I don't get how Nate can tolerate such rude behavior.
For a hockey podcast, this is pretty funny
Hello Folks!! The Canada episode broke from tradition with some legit fun filled facts. It was actually educational, especially the Newfoundland bits. I was however disappointed Beer Belly made no mention of the great Canadian bands Rush or The Tragically Hip. On the flip side, keep up the great work.
Love from Canada! I was going to watch this earlier but was too busy watching hockey and eating poutine (literally). Oh and I saw a moose yesterday.
I have now been working in Knoxville for several months. I’ve never noticed the sun sphere before so today on my way to work I decided to look for it. Turns out, I drive probably less than 200 feet by it every single day and I have never noticed it. It’s very visible, just not that exciting to look at. I could definitely see Briar-patch going on a date there.
thanks, as a Canadian, I enjoyed this!
Dear Nate, I started listening loyally beginning with episode 30 and catching up from the beginning has been a joy. When I listen through my headphones I can pass off my “snort” laugh as allergies. I think if Buckets is Newman on Seinfeld then Aaron has to be Puddy. I can definitely picture him painting his face Notre Dame blue and gold for a national championship game!
By far one of the best episodes. I actually learned a few things about the topic. Graham was great!
Also, since y'all keep bringing it up...kitty-corner IS a term used in the south. Not sure how y'all have never heard it but it's pretty common.
Favorite day of the week!!
Hello Folks 👋
As a die hard Mariner's fan I can say that Graham is 100% correct about the Blue Jay's fans coming to Seattle. They are somewhat less polite than your average Canadian, but still far more tolerable than Yankees or Red Sox fans. On a completely different note I was raised outside Seattle, but am adopted with Canadian ancestry. Even from a young age I have always been able to skate and frequently say "Soary" in completely unprompted situations. Love the show and I'm so happy to enjoy a podcast with two of my top seven favorite comics. Barometric Pressure brought the thunder this episode too with facts that are interesting and not worrisome. Soary for the lengthy comment as well.
Thanks and love the show,
Graham H. (different Graham, not Graham Kay)
Hey I’m a French Canadian from New Brunswick and I love this poscast!
And yes I have a backyard rink all Winter for my 3 kids and their friends.
Moncton!
Graham is showcasing how much better the Canadian education system is. 😂 Such a great podcast!
You had me at the moose bit.
Hello folks!! This might be my favorite episode yet! Bean Bag had almost nothing to do because Graham knew so much about his native country. As a person who is very proud of where they are from I can appreciate that. Nate needs to start vetting these comedians knowledge of their home states before they come on and make Bumblebee tuna do all the heavy lifting. Keep up the good work!
Yay Canada I loved this episode! I live on an island in Manitoba! Some interesting things, my family have been commercial fisherman for five generations, my friend would spend her winters up in church hill as Polar Bear Patrol, bad behaved bears go to Polar bear jail, my sister in law lives near the snake pits and a lot of snakes come through their yard, it’s pronounced Nar-Sis, Sis like Sister, and to be clear never compare Winnipeg to Edmonton the hockey rivalry is real, Jets fan for life of course, also Winnipeg is located on Treaty one territory and is the heart of the Métis Nation.
Hello fellow Manitoban!
The dog running around is my
Favorite!
Yay Montreal here 🇨🇦
Gday folksm i'm currently living in a small town beside st Paul, love the ribbing but the pad wasn't repurposed stage, it was a built as a landing pad, we are very proud of it, tom green did a bit on it back in the 90's and we even have our own UFO landing pad lager. sorry to correct ol' b train but felt the need to help out!
Goalies are like drummers. Underrated but
so important
Hello folks! Nate, you actually have a lot of fans up here in Alberta and Saskatchewan. I've got a couple of my friends hooked. As much as Newfoundland sounds nice, I think Nate would fit in well in the prairies. If 68% of canada has post-secondary schooling, we are the 32%. I feel like I am listening to some of the old guys around here when Nate is ranting. Same energy.
YES! Thank you! Someone finally addresses the phenomenon of words that you can cram together and everyone still knows what you’re saying. Nate doesn’t have to explain what a “gymbership” is because everyone gets it. Can we start using these regularly? Other examples that you could cram together and still make sense: dish issues, caveman mannequin, s’more Oreo, Dunder Mifflin Infinity, etc. Rant over
Nate, Aaron, and Joseph (Bart?)
When you guys originally announced that you would be doing episodes on the states, I was wondering how long it would be before you got to Canada... I think I finally “get” the podcast now. Can’t wait for the Atlanta episode.
Goodbye Folks!
Brian Smith
If I could sum up the podcast in one thought, it would be this ...Aaron saying he would be mad if he died in the war of 1812 but in 1813 and no one recognized it...to which Nate says...well you probably wouldn’t be alive to be upset about it 😂🤣 love the podcast fellas! Keep up the good work!
Very impressed with Graham’s knowledge. Then at the very end I realized Nate never asked him “what’s your source?” The entire episode and Graham could’ve been pulling a Nate and making stuff up the entire 2 hours for all I or they know.
Arkansas has a road that boarders Texas. During the big snow storm, beginning of 2021, Arkansas only cleared it's half of the road while the Texas side was still covered in snow. Needless to say, Texas was not happy.
Texas is never happy. If they had cleared that road they would have said why didn't you do Dallas?
When I was six, my family attend the Knoxville World’s Fair in the most Knoxville World’s Fair way imaginable, two families in a pick up truck. Seven of us drove 9 hours from rural Illinois to Tennessee with the women and children in the back of my dad’s pickup. Don’t worry, he put down some carpet scraps and a couple bean bags for the women to sit in. We kids laid in our sleeping bags. Don’t remember one thing about the World’s Fair, just riding in the back of that truck.
Newfoundland people are the nicest and the greatest people ever
Golly! My last comment got removed and I was merely complimenting Nate’s spell out on the first ad read... Love the pod and great to see Aaron and Bedrock patrolling the comments with such vigour!
I'm not sure why your comment would get removed. We certainly didn't do it.
The perfect cover story... Appreciate the reply!
You guys should do an episode on professional wrestling. Is it a sport? Is it live theatre? You have touched on it in previous episodes but I think a full episode would be interesting.
Graham just confused the Napoleonic wars with the French and Indian war (Seven years war if you're talking about it in a global context). In that war, George Washington actually served with the British army, as a lieutenant. Quebec became British in 1763 at the conclusion of the Seven Years war, along with any French held parts of India - there was also a bit of a reshuffling on the European continent. The Napoleonic wars weren't for another 50 years after that, and to us here it's better known as the war of 1812 - that actually involved an American invasion of Canada that didn't go very well, and led to the sack and burning of Buffalo, NY by British forces, in relation for the sack and burning of York, ON, by American forces. Also, famously, the White House was burned, Fort McHenry was shelled (which is described in the Star Spangled Banner), and Andrew Jackson won the battle of New Orleans for the Americans a few weeks after the war ended (neither side had gotten the news yet). A flurry of unconnected fun facts for all to enjoy! (Which I'm about 90% sure of)
I attended the “legendary” Knoxville Worlds Fair in ‘82 at the ripe old age of 3 months old. Remember the “horse ride”there like it was yesterday. 😂
Kinda seems like you should have a New Foundland on the show instead? Love you Graham, good job guys, great episode.
Every time I listen through the comments and don’t hear mine read, I’m reminded of the time Bugs Bunny said if you don’t read comments, they’re too long, too boring or they basically suck. So every episode I’m reminded that I’m not funny. Which is fine, I enjoy constructive criticism.
Hey, you’re a little bit funny.
@@JF-ym8gm haha that’s like telling Brian “Good job, buddy!” after stealing 1st base
I’m only half way through the podcast, and I have learned more facts about any subject your have covered from Graham Kay.... and I don’t like it!! LOL Love y’all!!
47:00 minutes in the best joke flew right past EVERYONE... "We don't have your mic on". #daymade
Nate asked about Chicago's World's Fair. They did host a couple. The most popular one was where HH Holmes scratched his serial killer itch in 1893. His "Murder Castle" was right by the fair. He opened a hotel with torture devices and hidden rooms. Maybe Nate, Aaron, and Baba Ghanoush should do an episode on serial killers?
Also, something similar to Nate's "Gymbership", I think altar call songs should be called, "Hymnvitationals".
Goalie Curtis McElhinney is NOT retired and in fact won a Stanley Cup with the Tampa Bay Lightning last season. He's in net right now against the Detroit Red Wings. 😉
Personality wise, Aaron is most like Pam from the Office. Started out timid, growing into his own and slowly becoming one of the favorites.
Hello Folks! I think the most Tennesseean thing I’ve ever heard is that the world’s fair came to Knoxville, gave them a Sun sphere, someone shot it, and no one really cared. I imagine folks saying, “To be honest it looks a lot better now.” Great show, lots of laughs, keep it up! P.S. From now on whenever I hear someone say something smart or have a good idea I’m going to tell them, “They have 7 on the board.”
This podcast has officially superseded it's category of "educational podcast." They're teaching us things that are unknown by anyone else. Nate says that land can be ice (27:55) when it was previously believed that only water could be ice. Aaron told us last episode that the War of 1812 was only 1 year long when it was previously believed to be almost 3 years long. And virtually the only thing Barry Bonds contributes to the podcast is pre-screened, typed out, "fun" facts....
In a world full of dogs, these guys are dolphins.
Nate, Gymbership is perfect! It goes with one of my favorite words a child has ever come up with; I was a nanny and my work kid came up with nummins. IMO this was a way better name for gummy vitamins.
I’m from Winnipeg and I can agree it’s hell on earth
Omg, has Aaron not gone to the Wilson County Fair??!! Y'all have to take him and document it, when everything is back up and running.
I think there should be a contest where people send in video submissions to be a guest on the show for the obscure state they are from. I am thinking about my home state of Connecticut and I am wondering if they will ever have a guest for the Connecticut episode. The winner can come on the show and also help Beanbags prep the info for that episode. I bet you could find some pretty entertaining people for some random states.
Nate recalls a road that separates Arkansas from Tennessee. What he's actually thinking of is called the MISSISSIPPI RIVER!
Holly walks right to Broccoli, the only one who will give her attention, over her owner, who only acknowledges her enough not to run over her with the chair. And that’s love.
The live podcast was GREAT!!! This one...ehh
The fact Aaron has been to Knoxville, but never noticed or saw the sunsphere is mind-boggling. Albeit, the sunsphere is smaller than the space needle, but you don’t have to go out of your way to see it.
Hockey puck day. Lol
Proud winnipeger here, and im super glad you covered Canada. Although im surprised buster didnt say anything about slurpee's or the fact winnipeg has been the murder capitol of Canada for a while.
That shows you how nice Canadians are, that they are willing to wait for all 50 states to be talked about before they talk about Canada.
The term 'kitty-corner' has nothing to do with cats. Instead, it stems from the expression 'cater-corner,' which is derived from “quatre,” the French for “four.” The term was used to describe the way the dots are placed on a dice positioned at number four, diagonally from one another. So actually its better to say CATTY then KITTY
I'd like the Google stats on the rise in search results of obscure after each Nateland comes out. Now I know more about the 1982 Knoxville World's Fair than I do about my own home town.
"Buddy you got to jockey a bit more" is Canadian as hell
The sun sphere in Knoxville was featured in an episode of the Simpsons Aaron! Bart ran away from home to go see it. Of course, when he got there it ended up being full of old baseball caps that nobody wanted. But still, you don't get much bigger recognition than the Simpsons! Also, thank you Bristol for always knowing something about northeast TN! That's where I live, so it's nice when you throw out info about it.
Thank you Derek. We also mentioned that the Sunsphere was featured in an episode of the Simpsons.
@@brianbatescomedy yep. I heard that after I left the comment. Oops.
I was mentioned by name during the live podcast and now they’re talking about my home country with a comedian from my hometown. HoOoOoO WeEeEeEe! What a week it’s been for former disgraced US President Andrew Johnson from Ottawa, Canada.
I worked retail for 20 years, and I can confirm Nate is correct regarding 12/26 being a bigger shopping day than Black Friday... at least with my previous employer. This might have been the first time Nate was right and everyone else was wrong.
I saw Aaron in Kelowna B.C Canada. He was 10x funnier than the guy he opened for. He must be embarrassed to have preformed here if he didn't even mention it in the Canada episode, even when they gave 5 minits to the ogopogo which apparently lives here. Still love him though, Nate and Graham aren't bad either.
Haha! I'm just gonna move it to the parking lot
I worked in an ED in Maine. We had a patient who was involved in a moose collision on the interstate. She survived with minor injuries, but the poor moose wound up with its decapitated head on the floor of her car.
