we need official discord support so we can get notifications and such in gaming mode

Thanks this was very helpful. My internal steam deck mic doesn't work in voice chat whilst using gamer mode but it does work in the desktop version of steam and discord. Thankfully this has allowed my mic to work in gamer mode.

for me when I launch a game and then launch discord, my mouse remains blocked on the game and I cannot click anywhere on discord, its clicks on the elements of the game in the background, what to do? :'(

I tried this and it seems like certain games don’t stream right? Also just going into a channel and going back to the game doesn’t seem to stream anything. Discord didn’t seem to realise I even was streaming.
Just curious if you have to use steams on board audio and speakers and can’t switch, because I’m not finding a clear way to use Bluetooth through discord

I have a problem controller the discord screen when a game is playing in the background
I’m doing the exact steps. I go to the discovery center and type discord but only get 6 options without the app itself. So frustrating

How do you type in chat though? Only works to click but can't bring up the keyboard to type like in desktop mode

You need to go back into contoller options and set a function to work as a scroll wheel like you did to set the trackpads as a mouse.
Have you tried using PTT? I’ve set the buttons to the same layout I have for both discord and the game I want to play but it doesn’t make the sound when I press down the button to talk

@@scaryifliteral @StyLec0 I think thats not possible because PPT would work essentially only when you are using that app/game so any PTT you assign will trigger the button in your game not in Discord. I think until discord officially supports steam deck, we cant use PTT
Deal breaker for me! PTT is the only reason I wanted Discord on SD. Otherwise I can just use it on my phone. Aside from that this video is excellent!

Helpful tip: it is not impossible to navigate discord without setting up the controls, if you press "steam" and use the right thumb stick or track pad you can navigate the menu.
1. I don't have an applications bit - the menu one would see after clicking on applications is all I get
2. When I get to internet - chat, there are 0 items.

Hi can you please help me? After I click launch in discovery it says discord has an update it gives me an option of Linux or Ubuntu I downloaded both extracted both and can’t run any files to install it in only familiar with windows. I’m so frustrated
To disable the update check, add the following to ~/.config/discord/settings.json:
"SKIP_HOST_UPDATE": true

THANK YOU. I got my steam deck today and I have the same problem. I've watched 15 videos and read 15 articles about installing discord on the steam deck and not one has mentioned anything about this apparently crucial step. I thought I was going crazy.
As to Butter Scott's reply, thats all well and good but the steam deck operates like windows. I can't even find a way to get to a command line to try to do some changes like what you have posted. Super frustrating that there is literally no information about this anywhere.
@@kevinbutler7085 "~/.config/discord/settings.json" is a directory to a file which you will want to edit by opening with Kate. You can navigate there using Dolphin. In Linux, ~ in a directory symbolizes your home directory. I hope this helped

My issue is scrolling, am in a mot of servers
I think you missed a step or skipped something cause discord isn't in my steam library
Then you missed where I said to add it to your steam library at 1:32.
How does discord impact battery life?
