IX is my favorite game of all time.
It’s the only game (aside from Elden Ring) that I have put hundreds of hours into over and over again.
Sure, it wasn’t “genre” defining like VII, didn’t have voice acting like X…
…but it hits home for me over and over again.
Give me the remake any which way and I’ll eat it up!
It is probably the only FF that does earn a perfect score... But I think FFXII is a 9.5er so use that as a bearing lol

@@REVOLVERE lol it's so good.. I played 6 through 12 religiously along with Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Secret of Mana, Secret of Evermore, Earthbound, Resident Evil... Silent Hill.. I mean Super Mario RPG.. Zelda.... lol

Midori has a flawless track record, she is mainly an Atlus leaker but it's always good to get confirmation the games are still coming. She also revealed that IX Remake is still turn based.

This is my favorite Final Fantasy, if they fix the issues with stuff like the combat then it’ll be amazing. Hope they faithfully bring the artstyle to life as well

As far as going ATB, I reckon the flow of FFX-2’s is the best iteration of the system and I hope to get something similar to it.

One of my favorite things about XVI was how all the music had English vocals (except Moongazing). I would LOVE an updated English version of Melodies of Life!
@@FinalFanTV aww I need to play xvi soon! Taking a break from ff after 261 hrs of rebirth 😂. Yeah, I prefer the Japanese version of "melodies of life" cuz the singer's English wasn't that great lol...although the instrumental version is just as good!
Does anyone know how to see enemy health bars? Apparently, you need to get the scan ability, but where do you get it? I’m still at the introduction part.
You'll get the "scan" ability a little later. It's white magic and comes with the Air Racket, which can be bought in Treno
Something to add about Ever Crisis, at least since the time I played, I remember that IX crossover and since then Ever Crisis has NOT done any other crossovers with other FFs. You’d think maybe they’d pick a more recent game to crossover like XVI but they went with IX. They still do other crossovers with other franchises but I haven’t seen another FF.
I dropped EC recently so maybe a current player can confirm this.

So so hype! Gameplay wise - it would be SO COOL if they had synergy attacks like ff7 rebirth!
Hope also the anime expands on some of the side characters that either didn't have a full conclusion to their sltry or expanding on some of the lackluster ones - amarant. FF9 is my favorite for it's themes. My biggest hope for this project is that they don't skimp on the dark themes for the sake of expanding to a wider audience.
The juxtaposition of FF9s artstyle and its themes of depression and nialism were what to me made it work so well. Each character learns their will to live.
For the graphical style I’d like something similar to Dragon Quest XI’s CGI cutscenes. For combat I’d like turnbased, but there’s a lot they could borrow from Bravely Default and/or Octopath. For the scale of the game, on the level of Rebirth
This is one of those rare times where the game is all but confirmed. Jeff Grubb and Midori apparently have great track records, and the small announcements about 9 (like in 14) don't make much sense unless something is coming. Additionally, the Nvidia leak had some wacky games no one thought were real, yet they were.
You touched upon it, but my wild theory is that Xbox is gonna go wild with some FF announcements. Remake and maybe 16 could be announced for it, but at this point there's nothing stopping Rebirth from being on Xbox. Then I feel like a 9 announcement on top of that would make a lot of sense. Realistically I'm extremely wrong since Geoff Keighley gets the FF announcements, but I'll gladly be wrong as long as something is announced.
I hope we get more content in the ending or some sort of epilogue where we find out more about what happened between Dagger and Zidane after the ending play
The only gripe I had with FFIX was the limit break system, but that is an easy fix for modern gaming.
i will get exited for a final fantasy 9 remake wene they announce a release date. just like with dragon quest 3 remake.
AMAZING! this will probably be a dissenting opinion, but I kinda hope this IX remake is more like a modern FF. 3rd person, 3D world where you move the camera, and I would like the battle system to be something novel and interesting rather than a one for one remake. I feel so blessed to be a FF fan in this day and age.
I think and I hope you are on to something there! ❤️ I can't say I'm a big FFIX fan but I'd be sooo happy for the numerous people who deem it as the best FF. 😊 And I'd definitely buy and play it day one!
I hope that the combat is like 7 remake. But I am also okay with turn based. Turn based can still be really fun, like in Baldurs gate 3.
Also I like the art style of memoria, but I think it is a little bit "normal". Like a typical cel shaded or Pixar looking thing. That might not be bad, but idk a more ghibli anime style would make me more hyped. They are also making an anime, from a French studio, so would be cool with some similarities in style with that.
This game is so important for me! I hope this remake will be amazing!
I'd be stoked if IX Remake uses FFVIIR's combat (the pinnacle of RPG combat for me), but lately, I'm thinking more and more that I could be happy with a modernized turn based ATB system as well. Especially if they can find ways to keep things interesting in combat.
After spending a couple hundred hours in both FFXVI, Rebirth, and even going back to Elden Ring for a bit, turn based combat suddenly hit the spot again. Sometimes it's nice to just sit back and play battles leisurely after so much intensity in the other games.
Also, I'm starting to think maybe it could help sales to start titling FF remakes without their numbering. Something like Final Fantasy: Memoria (instead of FFIX: Remake.) This could prevent new players from thinking, "well I haven't played the original, so I'm not going to bother with the remake if that means I won't get the optimal experience."

One last thing, just want to second that FFIX: Moguri Mod is really really good. It especially makes all of the prerendered top down environments look gorgeous.

Id like to see it step away from turn based combat purely because i played Dissidia and Zidane kicked ass in that game. Id love to see what the others could do if the restriction of turn based was taken off. However, if it stays turn based, ill still love it. What it really needs is a bit of extra story. What happened to Fratley, general tea on Garland, AN ACTUAL BACKSTORY FOR AMARANT, and of course the big one....who the hell is Necron? Im really looking forward to increased details

I'll be 100% okay if it remains ATB/Turn based......I'll also be 100% okay if it is using the 7R template for combat as I believe that should be the framework for all new FF titles going forward. It needs to be full 3d environments with a free movement camera. As for story I think 7R is much more faithful to the OG than some people. If the ix remake follows that template of being true to the OG I'm good with it. I'm also good with it being more 1:1 to OG IX as well. I just want it to be good over anything. That's all that matters to me. When FF is good, gaming is just better. As many issues as I have with XVI, I wouldn't call it a bad game at all and if that is the valley for FF going forward then we're in another FF golden age akin to IV-X.
If its not atleast on the level of that fan demo then I will be dissapointed.
I really hope the remake is as one to one as possible. I need static camera angles, the option to turn voice acting off it’s present, a world map etc

I'd still call it a Remake if it had modern graphics and animations, voice overs, etc. A remaster is the INCREDIBLE Moguri Mod (damn near remake status) with that already easily accessible, I'd say an official Remake would need to do more to justify its existence

If the graphics are just as good as Trials of Mana, I'll be very satisfied already! I don't think HD-2D fits the aesthetic of FFIX, since the original game was already 3D (but very low poly considering it's PS1), remade models and lighting would already make a huge diference
What’s gonna suck is if FF9 remake isn’t as ambitious as Memoria fan remake. They set the bar high without a doubt
Why in the world would you even assume it comes out on summergamesfest? Square isnt even listed as one of the official partner this year. Youre only setting yourself up for disapointment if youre expecting it to be announced this weekend. There is zero chance since Square wont be attending.
Honestly, the trance system needs to be redone. None of the attacks were memorable. I wish for some cool flashy limit breaks...
Did.....did you not ability grind for Zidane? I'll give you that everyone else's Trances were super basic in terms of appearance, but Zidanes Trance abilities were pretty nuts

@biohazard737 yeah, I still question that. Aside from Eternal Darkness and Doomsday, Zidane had the next most memorable set of animations. Looks more like complaining to complain to me

I like turn-based, but it's not as good as modernized gameplay like the FF7 remake. I just started ff9 and i hope it's great.
If it's turn base I'll probably pass on it rebirth fighting style is the way square should go with all new ff game

Wait for the PC version, and also the release of part 3. Many people will buy the 3 parts together in a bundle
only limiting it to PS5 was a huge factor in that. half of PS4 owners still haven’t gotten a PS5. thankfully SE is switching their strategy to going multiplatform. I can’t wait for a PC release
Hopefully this is the last Playstation I need to buy. Just upgrade the PC yeah?
