- After seven entries, it was time to take Jason Voorhees out of Camp Crystal Lake, and what better place to put him than "The Big Apple." Jason Takes Manhattan or Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan was the series trying to stay fresh, yet bombed at the box office, was hated by fans, and currently sits with a twelve percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Is it possible that Jason Takes Manhattan is a misunderstood sequel and embodies everything that makes the Friday The 13th series so fun? Absolutely! And we're here to tell you why on this episode of The Black Sheep.

i'm still wondering how crystal lake is connected to the ocean
This movie sucked 30 years ago, and I’m sure it has not aged well.
I hated this movie hard when it came out. It's still terrible. Not as good as 5, but maybe better than JGTH, a couple of other black sheep in the franchise.
Jason Takes Manhattan is the worst film in the franchise and that's saying something.
It's ridiculous.
I really want to like it, but I just can't.
Part 8 is bad. The censoring, the not actually being in New York, Jason being afraid of water when he has been in water multiple times and turning into a kid at the end.
My favorite Friday films are the ones that everyone else seems to hate the most, with the exception of Jason goes to hell; that one is rough. I love Jason Takes Manhattan. I think it’s incredible.
Second worst one..with Jason goes to hell being the worst
Jason Takes a Boat Trip to Vancouver
I remember the "I ❤ NY!" Jason poster in the video store. I love the absurd amount of teleportations, the Times Square scene, the diner, and the boxing on the roof scenes.
I suspect Joblo is an 80’s kid. I feel exactly the same way about part 8!
I couldn't have said it better myself! In this video, you touched upon all the reasons why this is one of my fave entries. I just love how pissed off Kane plays Jason, in this one!! Especially when he bursts through the door & hurls future Jason, Ken Kerzinger, into that glass. So badass!! I will go into my grave defending part 8.
Even though I was disappointed Jason didn't get to New York till the final act, I have a soft spot for this movie.
I’m 35, so when I watched Jason kill that boxer when I was a kid, that taught me a valuable life lesson. That’s to never try to fight Jason, he’ll knock my head off with one punch 🤣🤷🏻♂️
I always thought being stuck on a cruise ship with Jason was far scarier than being in the woods or New York. Plus I always loved the big hulking heavy breathing Jason featured in 7 and 8. As far is the movies go Jason Lives is the best IMO.
My FAVOURITE Friday the 13th poster with the “I heart NY” parody
"Jason Takes Manhattan" was on in the break room at work one day, I think it was around the 4th of July or something. I'm glad someone kept it on, and didn't turn it off. Lots of memorable scenes in this one, and it's just fun!
When I was a kid my friends and I used to adore the Friday 13th films and on our trips to the video store at the weekend for a big pile of horror, there was always and I mean always a Friday 13th in our selection, and we rented part 8 the most often
God damn my dude, you gave me the feels when you mentioned Kimberly the pink ranger. I’ll give you an upvote just for her. Great taste my man.
