    I want this camera so bad but Blackmagic makes me nervous. I wish they would charge slightly more if it allowed them to improve their quality control. Seems like the people that purchase their cameras are basically acting like beta testers.

      @reanetsemoleleki8219 Před 3 lety +5

      You don't have to buy it now (or maybe you do). The problems people are having now are exactly the reason why I'm never an early adopter. I also don't think charging more would translate into better QC out the gate.

      @@reanetsemoleleki8219 I'm with you on not being an early adopter! Preordering seems like idiocy to me. I'm just saying a would gladly pay $3000 or maybe $3500 if I knew for a fact it would work exactly as advertised out of the box. It seems ridiculous to send broken products to paying customers, even if it's just firmware updates that are needed. It looks like a wonderful camera though! I may even wind up getting one against my better judgement lol.

      I completely agree. As a 4K user, I couldn’t be more excited to get rid of this camera because the batteries just don’t last more than 15 minutes. I’ve tried new batteries, Canon, third-party, but the camera just cannot be trusted. It’s such a shame it gives you such a professional image, but I would never bring this on a professional set because I cannot rely on it.
      I was hoping that waiting for the 6K pro would solve this lack of quality control with 3rd gen hardware essentially , but receiving faulty battery grips and blue tinted screens just goes to show there are always going to be new persistent quality issues

    THE EVF is a full on OLED screen while the back screen being 2200 NITS its a basic LCD. While the former 4k and 6k both had OLED back screens which is why they are better but they dont get as bright though! These two key factors to keep in mind when differentiation the two. Great Review!

    Blue Screen tint was a calibration issue on a batch. Future firmware will be correcting and they are looking at giving the option for monitor calibration in the menu option as there seems to be variations from camera to camera as to how bad it is with some being worse than others.

    Thanks for the real world review. It's great to see how the camera works in the feild. @12:10 You mention you can't use the screen for proper exposure. That is true of any monitor or external screen that you can control the brightness. You would need a properly calibrated monitor to check exposure. The histogram and or false colors are your best bet for proper exposure.

    I haven't tried one yet, but it seems to me that if the EVF plugs in at the top there, that sooner or later there will be a cable for it and some kind of mounting hardware to put it where it might be more comfortable. Especially the camera is on a tripod in a strange position - being able to just have the EVF in your hand and look at your shot, would be fabulous.

    the battery grip for 145 its a steal... the camera as a whole is a masterpiece. the options are unlimited.. the drawbacks are just a few... at the price this camera sits, the lack of autofocus and blue-ish tint on display are unnoticeable and easy to pass by... this is the best money can buy for this price range up to 10k.

    I wanted to get one, but I opted for the regular Pocket 6K for gimbal, car rig, and quick HH use. I don't know, the new offerings didn't push it over the top as a buy. Regardless, it's a great camera especially for folks that said no when there wasn't a flip screen and wanted better battery life.

  • @TimButt2
    @TimButt2 Před 3 lety

    I have no problem waiting to buy the Pocket 6K Pro. I would definitely buy one. I really want one with a PL Mount however. I've completely switched to PL glass, and am so much happier. It's the best mount. Nonetheless, I still am fine with the EF lenses I have. I would use the Pocket 6K Pro with the same EF glass I use on my Pocket 6K. So don't get me wrong there.
    But waiting for the issues to be solved with later shipping models is always fine by me. Certainly for run and gun shooting the P6KPro is the right camera with the battery grip and EVF. That's what I've wanted for the Pockets for a long time. Now, if only they could go ahead an implement CFExpress in future cameras since I love that new recording media.

    Bought the 6K Pro three weeks ago. Don't seem to be experiencing the tint on the screen; would love to hear if yours ever got resolved. I was blown away by how bright it gets. I bought the EVF, too, and while I actually think it edges out the screen slightly in terms of image quality, color depth, contrast, etc., I haven't used it since my initial out-of-the-box honeymoon with the camera. I agree with Alan that the placement of the EVF is goofy and impractical for most uses. At the end of the day, this is going to serve as a locked-down B-cam 50%+ of the time anyway.

    Love your channel and a perfect person to ask. I posted this on FB and no one responded. Could you possibly shed some light?
    I just received the Pocket 6K Pro and putting it side by side to my Pocket 4K, I noticed 2 things that seemed peculiar.
    1) I know they have different LCDs, but the 6k Pro has a green tint. I even noticed it before I brought the 4K out.
    2) The 6k Pro has a very low noise when it's turned on.
    Do you have a similar experience?

    My question is that what happens to the cameras you guys returned to the manufacturer? Do they just wipe them down and repack them and sell them to other suckers as new?

    I love this camera if. If I was just getting into black magic I would definitely get it. I have a pocket 4K and that works great for me especially because it will get gen 5 colors. I have fixed the battery issue with a vmount. Because I film commercials and films I often have my camera rigged up so I wouldn’t be able to use the EVF. I love the built in NDs, but I don’t want to pay $2500 for just nd’s. I am going to wait another year or so to see what they put out. And I will probably end up going ursa just for the sdi

    I'm sorry but I have a confession to make. All this while I've been subscribed I know you strictly told me not to subscribe and I'm sorry I've been lying to you but I have no regrets and I'll do it again if I had a do over. Epic Light Media keeps bringing the best CZcams content and other awesome channels man I couldn't resist. I'm also gonna snitch, you didn't hear this from me but there's about a hundred and thirty thousand of us who subscribed. You must feel betrayed.

    So can you trust the false color exposure tool within the camera via the screen?

    Excellent review! +1
    Just one thing: 1:46 the length of those graphs seems off: the lengt of the bars does not correspond to the numbers below
    Examint the last two bars for example, 3 hours versus just over 1 hour should have an almost 3 times longer bar...
    Also the 1h16m versus 0h53m bars seem to show little difference in height.

    Hi, great video, thanks for the information. Do you know if this BMPCC 6K is compatible with Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 IF EX DG HSM lens for Canon?
    Thanks!

    how bad is the tint in your unit?
    did the tally lights cover fall off?
    did you have sensor with dust under the ir filter?
    how is the IR polution in the Nds in yours?
    the faulty units are piling up on the stores and black magic is beeing less than transperent

    Obsolete and not ver adaptable mount due to distance to the sensor. The only thing that bugs me.
