One of the first things we realized when riding our 2020 RT home was that it was in dire need of a backrest. Show Chrome Accessories has developed a padded backrest to address this issue. This Spyder RT Driver backrest has a 1" vertical and 3" horizontal adjustment, and features a quick detach system to easily take on and off the backrest as needed. Each backrest includes a free removable storage pouch that mounts to the backside of the backrest to store small items like passenger chapstick, cell phone, etc. This product is Made in the USA and designed to match the factory looks of the 2020+ OE Can-Am Spyder RT seat. Installation is straight forward and takes around 30 minutes from start to finish.

Great video. The new 2023 with matching stitching comes 90% pre-assembled to my surprise so it was literally 1 minute to assemble and then right to the RTL to finish the install. Great backrest!

@@Slingmods that was great. Saves tons of time. I can’t figure how to get mine to stay forward. When I lean back it goes too far back. Am I just not tightening the bolts enough?

Not as easy as the video. Evidently there has been some major changes to the seat pan on the 22 models to which this installation requires quite a bit more than releasing the passenger seat and loosing two bolts. Not counting you will have to be careful that the bolt head doesn't interfere with you wiring under the seat.

Got this, installed with some help from the video. The video doesn't say anything about the stick-on pads, nor the silver 1" thumb screws. Also the bolt for the fender washer is so short, I had to leave out the lock washer for it to reach the plate.

Had the same challenges. Where DO the stick pads go?

Adding the bike mount at about 3.43 time, can be confusing, it was for me. It slides in just below the large hole by lifting about the mid section of the plate. I was trying slide it in lower than that, that won't work. This back is rest is pretty neat, and easily removed for the passenger to mount and replaced.

How is the forward adjustability on this backrest?

I'm still trying to figure out how to get the three inches of horizonal travel. My wife is a short lady and the backrest doesn't reach her.

I have this mounted on a 2021 RT, but when adjusting the back rest it still continues to come back all the way after tighten the bolt, is there a adjustment screw that keep the back rest in place after it's adjusted?

The manufacturing quality of the seat is really poor. I got to 1:38 in the video and the slot in the riser is too narrow for the bolts to go through, ler alone slide on. I wonder how much problem I am going to have sending this back and getting my money refunded?

Installed a few minutes ago. The written instructions were cheap photocopy much too dark to make out details. This video was invaluable in making sense of it. The various bolts in the kit do not come labeled or in labeled bags so while you are told to use xxx size bolt, it's up to you to figure out which is which. This is actually silly too- because most of the bolts could stand to be slightly longer anyway. The single bolt that attaches the base to the bike was too short by a few threads and I ended up deleting the large flat washer and just barely getting it to grab with the lock washer in place. Why not just use another of the longer bolts already in the kit rather than try to cut two or three threads off a bolt? I nearly just ran to a hardware store to get bolts a tad longer.
Also, there is an 'adjustment plate' that doesn't seem to do very much. At it's tallest it barely contacts the rest of the mechanism to limit how far back the seat goes. But at least in the middle configuration for everything, it seems superfluous at best. I could literally remove it entirely and not affect the seat.
Once installed and tightened down it's comfortable although the range of adjustment isn't very much. It does fold over in a variety of ways to make getting on and off easier, but at the cost of having the whole thing less 'tight' by leaving some bolts loose.
Thanks so much for the video. Made the process much easier.

I agree the bolts are not long enough in places you use the nut.and the instructions aren't very good.the video is a lot better it took me about 10 minutes because the last owner took the backrest but left all the hardware in the base of the seat.it was a exact match I just had to connect the top
      side only.but feels really comfortable.

    • @Slingmods
      @Slingmods  Před 3 lety

Hello Paul, there is "no" cutting here. There is already a factory cutout on the seat from the BRP.

I just installed this on my 2022 RT Limited yesterday. A few notes about the install. First, kudos for this video because the directions that come with the back rest are horrible. They need to be updated and expanded and not look like they were printed from a 1960s mimeograph. They need step-by-step pictures. They also need a hardware inventory that also depicts each piece of hardware at its actual size. Saying use the M8, M5 or M whatever size bolt does nothing for me. Plagiarize Ikea instructions.
The bolt that mounts through the seat pan into the main bracket is to short when using both washers. I was only able to install the bolt if I left out the lock washer. I will be buying a new bolt so I can install the lock washer along with the fender washer.
The two bolts that screw into the upper portion of the main mount which are used for install the backrest bracket are too short. The instructions and this video say to leave them finger tight so the back rest can be inserted and removed. The problem I see is that these bolts will loosen over time. One option would be to use a lock-tight type product to hold the bolts in place, but the problem I see with this is if you have to make a fine adjustment you have to remove the bolts, clean the threads, reapply lock-tight then make the adjustment. I plan on buying longer bolts that thread through the bracket then use a nylock nut to secure the bolts in place.
Lastly, I had parts left over and because of the lack of inventory on the directions I have no idea what they are for.
    Hope this helps.....
