      @@klauswunderlich6169 but this one is already made significantly faster and cheaper than conventional tunnels, that's the big deal here. I believe that the boring company sees a path to at least 10 times faster and cheaper tunneling using electric boring machines, make smaller diameter tunnels, drill and apply reinforced walls at the same time, etc. If something becomes 10 times cheaper/quicker, then you can make a lot of it. A lot of tunnels can alleviate traffic problems above ground. Like the guy in the vid said, stacking roads above ground is very expensive but physics show that that's not necessarily the case underground where going deeper is barely more expensive.

    • @dougrobinson2024
      @dougrobinson2024 Před 3 lety

      It's sort of a proof of technology demonstration. Elon Musk (SpaceX, Tesla) wants to build tunnels like these under major cities, so instead of being stuck on a freeway at rush hour (think Los Angeles traffic!), you would just drive into an elevator for your car, go down to a tunnel and take a huge shortcut, popping up at your destination, which could be all the way on the other side of town. Fast, cheap, safe alternative to being stuck in freeways.

  • @SilverfoxJB
    @SilverfoxJB Před 4 lety

    Innovative? No, it's just a tunnel, a very small tunnel. Go visit SIngapore, their subway system moves millions of people a day, is clean, fast and each station is like a shopping destination. It's beyond amazing. All this pissy little tunnel is doing is moving the 'lucky few' a mile or so slightly quicker into Vegas's grid lock!
