  • This is a Motormouth couple car review of the all-new 2023 Range Rover Sport ;usury SUV.
    There are plenty of Range Rover Sport powertrain options to choose from, we are driving the Dynamic SE model with a 3L turbocharged 6-cylinder and a mild hybrid system, it has an 8-speed automatic transmission, 395 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque.
    The Range Rover Sport Autobiography model is a plug-in hybrid with the same 3L turbocharged 6-cylinder but with more power, a combined 543 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque. It gets up to
    82 km/51 miles of EV range.
    There is also the Range Rover Sport SV with a 4.4L twin-turbo V8 and a mild hybrid system, 626 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque which is 51 horsepower and 38 lb-ft of torque more than the outgoing Supercharged 5L V8.
    In the US, there is one more option, a base Range Rover Sport SE model with a 3L turbocharged 6-cylinder with 355 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. All models come standard with AWD and dynamic air suspension.
    With its beautiful, upscale interior design, it’s tough to beat a Range Rover Sport for sophistication and elegance. The Range Rover Sport model comes standard with a 13.1” touchscreen with Amazon Alexa, 13.7” digital driver display, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, a wireless Charger, Windsor leather seats, 20-way power heated memory front seats, a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, a 15-speaker Meridian sound system, panoramic sunroof, a power tailgate and 21” wheels.
    In Canada, theRange Rover Sport Dynamic SE starts at $108,900 CAD, Dynamic HSE $113,850 CAD and Autobiography PHEV $141,550 CAD. Price as tested for the SV Edition One $236,555 CAD.
    In the US, Range Rover Sport SE $83,600 USD, Dynamic SE $90,700 USD and Autobiography PHEV $118,200 USD.
    Fuel economy, the V8 with the mild hybrid system gets 15.2L/100 km, 15.5 MPG city and 11L/100 km, 21 MPG highway. The SV model can tow 8200 pounds.

    Zack: But what about the car Andrea, you're talking about me! 😂
    I wasn't feeling well but Zack's humor made me felt better. 😆
    I am not even into cars and don't even own one. I have a driver's license, but I haven't been on the road driving except when I was learning how to drive and when I took my test 😅 But oddly, watching your videos has been an enjoyable form of therapy and education.

    JLR needs to organize a Manhattan Project internally to conquer their reliability issues. They do so much engineering and design right, and then they shoot themselves in the foot year after year by not producing a vehicle (especially one that pushes offroad chops) that isn't relatively reliable. It's so frustrating.

    Hey Andrea! Back from the South of France. What a place! If you want to test cars, THAT'S the place to be! Question: Are mat finish paint jobs more difficult to keep clean? I'm thinking since the paint isn't as glossy, that dirt might stick to it more. What has your (or Zack's) experience been with keeping mat paint clean as opposed to gloss. Thanks!

    The matte paint tends to be harder to match because the texture of the paint has to be spot on to look correct. If the paint goes on too light it can look flat and too heavy can be more like a semi-gloss.

    Hi! You make great videos. You have an entertaining dynamic and provide well-researched information. Thank you for this :)
    I'm wondering if you have plans for a video that explains the differences between the new Range Rover and Range Rover Sport. In the past, it was easier to tell the difference in what they provided. Now, they look and seem very similar, including nearly identical interior designs and dimensions.
    I've watched some videos that try to explain the differences, but didn't seem well researched... For some, they didn't even cover differences I already knew, like the split vs traditional tailgates. In the end, they essentially note that these are mostly the same and which to buy comes down to aesthetic preferences.
    However, when building these vehicles to what seems like nearly identical specifications, the Range Rover PHEV is nearly 20K USD more than the Range Rover Sport PHEV. It doesn't seem logical that there wouldn't be more to that price difference than design. But maybe I'm wrong... After all, buying a Land Rover is more of a passionate endeavor than a logical one...
    Apologies for the long comment and thanks again for the great content! Stay well :)

    Another great review. I believe matt paint is harder to look after in terms of washing the car. And LR charge a pretty penny for it. A matt wrap might be cheaper and easier repair if there was ever a scratch.

Of course that happened before they notified me that the fuel pump was recalled. Even with all of the troubles I've had, I would buy 10 more diesel cars. I can go about 550-600 miles on a tiny 15-gallon tank and it feels so good!!

    what a great review! I absolutely love the way you guys flawlessly cover topic by topic. just one thing I wanna say - in my view, germans are NOT direct competitors to RRS because they are NOT in a luxury segment of the market. RRS is a peace of true luxury in every single inch of it, disregarding reliability 🙂

    Great review guys, I have had 5 JLR products and they have all had some issues, but then again so have my BMW X6, middle of Jan in a snow storm, drivers window went down and wouldn't come back up, V10 M5 spent more time in the shop than on the road. M/B E63, endless transmission programming issues. So all the cars/brands I've had have not been perfect, but I will keep coming back to Range Rover as the ride is truly sublime, and the foul weather capability and confidence, second to none! Reliability, meh, any high end car with as many sensors and complex driving dynamics will have issues. What bulletproof reliability, buy a Toyota/Lexus, want to feel great and have the ability to go off to the road less travelled in comfort, style and confidence with capability off - road, Land Rover or Range Rover. The big shame with the group is Jaguar.... That was such an icon of luxury, it was held in the same esteem as Bentley and Roll Royce back in the day. Through the "checkered" ownership, it truly lost its way. I hope JLR can bring back the "J" to the former days of glory it had.

      So frugal, 40 mpg is the normal. With 45 on longer runs.

    This is an ultra luxury premium SUV. The reliability is on par with its rivals. Anybody that says differently is a poor sap that cannot afford and should not be driving this vehicle. Maintenance costs and service intervals are far superior (lower cost and longer duration) to its German competition. Nobody talks about this due to their limited understanding. Not so proud last gen RRS 3L diesel owner here, bought it brand new in late 2018 as a 2019 model, electronic issue within 2 weeks, in less than 2 years ownership, it spent collectively more than 7 months in the dealership to be fixed (not due to accident or thanks lord not causing any accident). The problem is so deep, sometimes the technicians at the dealership weren’t able to diagnose what the problem is on the spot. Kind of like some complex syndrome needs many tests and diagnostics before it can be fixed. Although everything is free because it was well within warranty, the time my wife and me had to spend on (rather than working to make money) and stress it brought are just too big and not worth whatever nice complimentary small gifts (like champagne and courtesy car) the dealership offered. The only good thing after so many repairs is that the dealership was nice enough to allow us to sell it back to it and cover the gap for lease. I will never ever buy a JLR product again. As shit as it gets. Looks fancy and very expensive but extremely low quality and these problems are not usually identified from outside, all hidden deep inside and can be deceptive.

    One of the things that is really interesting to me is when I looked at the outside view, say at 5:41, and it seems like there are two different paint colors on the driver's door vs. the rear passenger door and rear quarter panel. It looks like the SUV was painted at two different times or something. This is how some vehicles appear after an accident or incident with a door and they only repair and paint one door. Bizarre look for a new vehicle; it makes me question the painting process and long-term appearance.

    Definitely a lease only car, and for those who have multiple cars to drive when this one is inevitably being fixed at that. But God is it gorgeous; why can't Lexus build a car that looks this good, inside and out? Having said that, the new Lexus GX looks interesting and is a nice departure from Lexus' recent design language.

    I’ve owned several land rovers over the years in the uk 🇬🇧, I always get rid of them just before the 3 year manufacturer warranty runs out. Not sure how many years warranty you get in North America. One can always get an extended warranty from the manufacturer after the 3 year warranty expires

    • @kcd2120
      @kcd2120 Před 16 hodinami

      I think it is a 4 year warranty in the US and while you can get an extended warranty, the cost is outrageously high - as much as I’d love one of these, it seems like JLR would rather you put extra money where their mouth is as they have little to no confidence in their own reliability.

  • @glynn1301
    @glynn1301 Před rokem

    JLR reliability is like Apple battery life. Its not a problem just people like talking about it. Had many rangerovers and had very little problems.

    I absolutely love (most) Land Rover products. In my opinion, a Range Rover still holds true as the Best 4x4xFar. As an erstwhile apprentice mechanic (LRJ/Rolls Royce - mid 90’s), I’m slightly biased. At best, Land Rover has an assiduous approach with their R&D and Design teams. They can be almost timeless. At worst…they can be the most expensive vehicle by far to buy, in regards to their maintenance/reliability and depreciation. If I were in a better financial position, if I had the bucks… I cannot think of a better luxury SUV. Just be warned… Do NOT ever consider purchasing any (non-CPO) Land Rover products available on the many ‘Used Car Lots’ for under $10,000. It could be your biggest mistake ever. Thanks for the video.

      @Brian-jv8iy Před rokem +1

      I can think of,a better one, G class, since both brands are just status symbols. I can really imagine buying a Land Rover, so little interior color and material options and old tech, a Mercedes is a no brained, and a new Land Rover at most has what a 2005 S class did. Otherwise a Cayenne, with a diesel no repairs up to a million km

    • @kellingtonlink956
      @kellingtonlink956 Před rokem +1

      The Cayenne is an absolute gem… fact. But the G-Class, to me at least, feels far too tight, is too industrial (look and interior) and just doesn’t quite have the Regal presence of a proper Range Rover. The G’s are credibly spectacular SUV’s, but luxury was an afterthought. I remember when the G-wagons first went more upscale. I was hoping that they’d be like an S-Class with a legendary 4WD system. Instead, they were like a Jeep YJ (square headlight years) decked out with a MB C-Class interior. Although they have greatly improved the G-wagon, they just do not have the presence of a Range Rover (Autobiography, ideally). But your points and logic are valid. Cheers.

    Regarding this Range Rover Sport (& Defender or any other Land Rover product) you mention “dependability” from the report you mentioned, but later you mention “you hope that Land Rover” can overcome their “reliability” issues. These are two very different things, so are you using those words interchangeably?
    Most modern vehicle manufacturers make all of their engines and drive trains last nothing less than 150k miles. There may be some electronic gremlins, and other minor things go wrong, but I can’t imagine anything major failing on one of these new Land Rovers or Range Rovers.
