Pokemon: 15 games on the DS.
Scott: 4 seconds of screen time.
pokemon: am i a joke to you?
Scott: *smiles* yes!
TheTiz he also says that the three main franchises of Nintendo were Mario, Zelda and Metroid. Pokemon is the world’s most popular media franchise! Don’t believe me? en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_highest-grossing_media_franchises. It surpasses Mario by $54,000,000,000! Pokemon surpassed Metroid and Zelda in sales on the ds, by far. And he acts as if Metroid, a sub par offering from Nintendo is more important. Scott is delusional when it comes to this.
@@armon9555 (almost) everyone knows Pokémon is one of Nintendo's flagships, both as a media franchise and a gaming franchise. But if we're comparing it to Mario, Zelda etc. it's only fair that you look at the sales it's made from video games (especially in the context of this video which is about consoles)- in which Mario is has brought in significantly more than Pokémon.
It's Not Time To Stop while that is true, pokemon has made more than Metroid so you need to take that into account
Just teasing. I know Scott's explained how he just never got into the franchise and it's hard to do when you're older. So he probably just can't say a lot about them since he doesn't know about it. But if he needs someone to talk about it...

I remember taking a class in college where a copy of _Heart of Darkness_ was required reading. I tried looking for a copy at my local library to no avail, and the copies being sold at the school's bookstore were priced exorbitantly high.
Enter my DS Lite. I had an old copy of _100 Classic Books_ and went through it to see what was there. Low and behold, a copy of _Heart of Darkness_ was included, and I expressed a simmilar reaction as if I caught a shiny Pokémon.
Overnight, something that parents would always claim "rots your brain" single-handedly saved me over $60 in school fees and helped me pass a college course with high marks.
Ya, I had a game with a collection of all the Percy Jackson books on my DS. Didn't help me through a college course, but hey, similar story I guess lol

Phantom Hourglass: Draw lines to guide Link
Scott: I am asleep
Canvas Curse: Draw lines to guide Kirby
Scott: *R E A L S H I T*
5:12 look at Kirby
Yayeles I think the difference is in the fact that Kirby controls VERY differently from the mainline Kirby games, but Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks (both games I love) Link pretty much controls the same as regular top-down Zelda’s. With very little re-working you could make Link move around the exact same way using the buttons on a DS with nothing lost except maybe some small combat conveniences bu nothing required. Once you get to items that’s a different story but still.
Nice meme but kirby walks/rolls on the lines unlike playing essentially a zelda moba

Bro your uncle is the Nintendo DS????
"i may not be an RPG guy" -famous last words of scott wozniak
Nintendo seems to have a history of saying "It's not a successor" when it clearly is.
yeah... I am hoping the switch isn't the new replacement to the ds... I will scream... that is a threat.
gameboys seemed cool is a shame I never got to use one, but the ds seems more aesthetic to me anyway, the new 3ds is what I am eyeing now for a new system with the same feel and I am really torn... the switch is so far off my radar since handheld doesnt matter to me, I have a pc and a phone and I dont leave my house... the ds is just cute so I actively want to use it more then either sometimes, but breath of the wild is a game I would kill for on a ds system.... I hope they make new ds systems in the future as a companion to the switch, as tech gets better we get old games ported over and maybe if that all goes well botw on ds booiiiiiiis...
I really doubt they will make another ds tho... which is a damn shame, although with how far they drift from the aesthetics of the first one with each new model I am honestly not sure I would want them to keep making new ones at this point... like the 2ds removes the best part of the ds, the xl has a stupid dust cover for nerds, the new 3ds moved the game slot which is such a small thing but I have such a visceral reaction seeing it... so god knows what the 1 ds will look like... they might even fuck up the consitent good size of the ds completely, make the screen slide up instead of fold out... or some other form of blasphemy... my ds lite still works, barely but it works...lets hope it stays that way
Nick Wolf are u high
@@MartyCgn00 maybe.
@@ParaFox404 What's wrong with the dust cover for the 3ds xl you mentioned? The system looks fine to me.
@@DerpySnake the 2ds xl had a cover over the port and i dont know why it just ruins it for me... I like the first ds lite the most... half cause nostalgia, half cause its just aesthetic to me, and everything after it changed something and I never liked it... like they moved the stylus, and the buttons, they added joysticks , the moved the game port from its symmetrical spot etc... they keep changing it and it just drifts further from what made me love the system... the 2ds removed the hinges which i dont feel needs an explanation as to why I would hate it with such ferocity... I am getting a switch now tho, couldnt find new 3ds consoles anywhere and friends have switches so I can at least play it with them... but man do I hope they make some upgraded throwbacks in the future
“Fountain pen”
Literally shows ballpoint pen
SCOTT
What's the difference?
@@Chad_Eldridge that one can actually mutilate you and the other barely writes.
@@Chad_Eldridge Fountain pens are mostly obsolete now unless used for calligraphy, but basically they're the ones with the fancy pointy metallic nib. You need to dip them in ink. Ballpoint pens are like your common office pen, which sort of pushes the ink out the tip by rolling it over a tiny ball, hence ballpoint, which is what deposits ink onto paper.
@@sugarkats21 Not all fountain pens need to be dipped, most have internal ink storage, either a cartridge or a converter

My fondest memory of my school days was how in our school, there was a weird hierarchy. I can't remember exactly how it went, but it was by handheld game systems, and I remember people who owned PSPs being gods among men at our school, and I remember there being a little area the teachers couldn't see where the kids who owned a DS would meet up and swap games around. I once traded Megaman and Bass(which I got from a store that also sold GBA games) for Sonic Colors DS. Best buisness deal of my life.

So... you're telling me that a launch title for the DS 14 years ago had online voice chat, but for the Switch Nintendo decided to make you use your phone?
Weird isn't it
+Diamond Axe Studios Music It makes so much more sense to incorporate your mobile phone to handle voice chat today than using the Switch itself. You have your phone with you all the time, everyone owns one and your phone has everything. It has Discord, the absolute best voice chat on the market, you can easily connect any headset to your phone too. Both wired and wireless.
People try to argue that when you play on the Switch, you are actively using it but the fact remains, you still have your phone with you during that time too. The quality of voice chat on the Switch would have been worse than your phone as well. In fact, voice chat do exist on the Switch and the sound quality is terrible.
A mobile phone is the most accessible piece of hardware everyone has today. It makes no sense to ignore it at this point. It works perfectly well with Switch. Ignore Nintendo's app, just use Discord and you're good to go.
@@ReachStudioPro if you think about it. Your correct. People say why not use discord. But that kinda contribute themselves. As they themselves are using an outside platform. It is not as bad as most think

Imagine watching this when you grew up with the DS Lite, DSi, and Imagine Wedding Designer... 😔
I'm so glad you mentioned the Ace Attorney games!
CaptainChrome who wouldn’t?!
I've met my people
If you want to be technical, Ace Attorney should go with the GBA because that's how the games were first released, albeit in Japan only.

A new Scott video is like a present from god.
They come only on Sundays, so that's already a hint.
Sundays at like 8:00 P.M. ET, 7:00 P.M. CT, which translates to 5:00 and 6:00 PT and MT respectively.

Aw man, I put so much love and time into Dragon Quest 9. Easily my favourite JRPG and DS game, hell, probably my favourite RPG video game. I got chills when you mentioned it

retarded animation if only Nintendo had the shop open
yeah... he did say that.
My entire life I've wondered why it was called the Ds and i finally figured it out! Ds stands for dual screen. Wow. That was anticlimactic
I remembered feeling like a real big brain boy cause I knew DS stood for "Dual Screen" and not "Double Screen". I'm Swedish so my limited 8-year olds knowledge about English made me a fucking wizard, although keep in mind that I was also convinced Emerald (As in Pokemon Emerald) was actually pronounced "Ermelade" because I heard it from a friend, and went around and told everyone about it... maybe I wasn't that much of a linguistic scientist.
@@surroundgatari it also stands for developer system.

Amigurume de croche
So then what does DSi mean?
I was like 5 when my mom got the ds lite. I had fun putting my GBASP games in and playing them. I was so pissed when I forgot it at a hotel room when I was in a sports tournament. It had Pokémon diamond in it and I lost my level 26 prinplup. Then a few years later, my sister and I each got the DSi XL and had a blast on those too. It was the perfect thing to do on a road trip
It feels like at least for me, starting with the DS I was exactly the right age to love every Nintendo console. Some of my greatest memories by myself and with my friends.
The amount of nostalgia I felt throughout this video is crazy
I know very vague happy memories
Did someone actually just mention Diddy kong racing ds? Such an underrated game.
I prefer the 64 version for the controls
I didn't it existed until a few days ago.
Diddy Kong racing was so good haha one of the first games I remember. Good Times!
It’s just Diddy Kong racing.
Yay.
The DS was and still remains the best RPG console ever made.
Yeah
Sonic chronicles is amazing
How about Pokemon

Okay, hold up I’m ashamed that it took me so long to realize that DS stood for Dual Screen okay, but the o looking like the dual screen... I’M AN IDIOT!!
its okay i thought it meant double system until yesterday
I thought it meant "Double Screen" until I played Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon
I dont think I knew a single person who had their stylus still

I like to think Scott saw his old 2009 footage and said “Found my next video idea”
It really worked for me after I look and try some tutorials, yours is the one that worked. Owe you a lot.
It still blows my mind that Nintendo's first REAL 3D game never made it to the 3DS. Mario 64 seems like the perfect fit for the 3DS like OoT/MM.
Well, not officially. But the homebrew port of Mario 64 on the 3DS is excellent.
Touched at first sight. Really bringing back some memories of my uncle, Scott.

I still remember the feeling of almost breaking the hinge when making it flat. Miraculously I was the only one who didn't have a broken hinge though.
You were supposed to make it flat? To this day I put it one "notch" below flat.
Juicebox Tunes you are not supposed to make it flat, he never said that.
Ik, I always flipped it past flat, how they hell did it not break?
Streetpass meet ups would be a great video
I'm just glad Scott mentioned Starfox Command. I spent months getting all the endings.
Two words: DS Lite. Probably the best update ever to a handheld; bright backlight, slick design and GBA port. That ensured the DS’s success.
IMO The DS Lite D-pad was garbage, could just be my experience from having it worn out though
I'm not so fond of it. I have owned almost 3 because they keep breaking. The stop constantly cracks and the R button fails very often. So much so that I avoid fast paced games that need it.
And also the most beautiful handheld ever made.
The white DS Lite looks like some 1000$ Apple product.
Amazing console over all!
