  • This is the Icom 756, a radio that was tested by QST (May 1997) having a phenomenal two-tone, third order receiver dynamic range of 103 dB. As such it is actually a better radio than the PRO and the PROII (see the QST test reports for those radios and compare), the latter radios were nothing more than Icom's cost reduction attempts to get rid of the crystal filters to maximize profit margins. Only with the PROIII Icom got it right again - that radio also has a 103dB dynamic range, on par with the good old 756......
The 756 is currently one of the best buys available on the used radio market, loaded with features. Quality of modulation; frequency accuracy; receiver sensitivity and dynamic range, all are flat-out excellent for this transceiver.

I agree. the 756 was (is) actually better than the pro and proII that succeeded this radio. It took Icom all the way to "Pro III" to get it right, and even THAT radio is on par with the 756.
