Q: My avatar is solid grey!! Help??
A: It's probably your view mode. Make sure you have your view mode set to material preview, as it's solid (grey) by default.

Instead of individually exporting each body part, you can select whilst importing in the geometry tab "(something something) group and it will all be separated.
this reply really saved me time. Thanks
what is the keybind
@@GreenElfvr what keybind, sorry?
@@GreenElfvr if u wanna select multiple body parts in roblox just tap and hold Ctrl while selecting each part u want
thank u for this
Thank you so much! I have been trying to find rigs for making good gfx for 1 and a half years! I have been sick of using those rigs which are found in the Internet. Even when I tried posing, it did not work. So I stuck with not using rigs and just making them the normal way in roblox studio using Moon Animator. Now that I found this good tutorial, I don't have to download those rigs online! You really made my day! Thank you!

You earned yourself another subscriber! big thanks! finally i can use my own body type instead of using the one on premade rigs!
Finally found a good Blender rig tutorial for roblox!
That's a lot of help! Thanks!
this tutorial will forever help me, thank you
Such a godly tutorial, thanks
omg that’s so helpful I can’t wait to try it! :D
thanksss, i first started learning blender because i really like it, i do a lot of 3d stuff and my sister plays roblox and she showed me the cool roblox renders and i told her i could do one for her. as I know about blender, i thought it would be cool to make a whole sene with her avatar and i thought to do this for the rigging of it but i haven't tried it yet and wasn't sure on how to use meta rig with a roblox avatar or how to import the avatar in a way that the rugs work, and now that I see your video it has saved me a lot of time of making errors and having to repeat rigging process until it works. thanks
just use the already made rigs, its way easier
jlyk that is one of the coolest avatars I have seen on ROBLOX, like wow
Thanks for this, really helps! Easy to understand, and did it on the first time, as a Blender noob.
Very helpful tutorial, I’ve been looking all day for a good one! Thank you so much!!!
Thank you, I'm new to the Roblox creating scene so I don't know where to go from here but thank you for helping me take my first steps.
Nice tutorial, helped me save hours!!!. I wanted to animate my sis Roblox avatar as I wanted to make a video. you deserve a LIKE :)
I watched other videos and got confused but didn't in this one. Thanks!
I really appreciate your tutorial, I've always wanted to rig my roblox avatar for a project I had in mind
(Irrelevant details about modding): I've always wanted to learn more about blender to make a personal mod for the game Left 4 dead 2 that makes one of the playable characters into my roblox avatar
OMG THE BEST TUTORIAL FINALLY THX!!!
Tambien debes ver uno de como iluminarlos correctamente xd
Thx this was rlly helpful👍🏿
Very helpful, indeed. Thank you very much for this learning experience.
Lol I got so confused because my avatar kept being transparent so I looked it up. Turns out I had show back face on and that made it semi transparent. I turned it off and it looks norm also thanks for the tutorial
wait where did you turn it off?
@@alwayssafety9640 it should be under properties render options to disable, select the object for which backfaces are to be culled then in Material properties scroll down to the Settings options and click the Backface Culling checkbox.
thank you so much. This video was very helpful!
Nice tutorial
Thank you!
How did i stumble uppon you?
This is going to be vary helpfully when my pc is charged again thanks for making this now im doing this so I can import it into vrchat
or alternatively, for your avatar, just click the model itself (not any of the stuff in the drop down, just the parent of all of them) and then right clicking it, and exporting it as an OBJ. 99% sure it still works since i do renders from time to time and it's still individual parts
for me its always a whole model, ur lucky lmao
nice job on the vid i thx for not blowing though it like other tutorials.
Omg It's amazing tysmch!
IF YOU'VE RIGGED YOUR ROBLOX AVATAR AND WHEN YOU POSE IT, THE LIMBS STRETCH OR BECOME DISTORTED, READ THIS:
When you spawn in the human armature, you have to scale it to the right size of the Roblox avatar, right?
(first of all, select the armature then press the scaling thing on the left) When scaling the armature, do NOT click any of the squares or colored lines to scale it. Instead, click anywhere else inside the white circle to scale it up. The issue with scaling using the colored squares or lines is that it will scale it up only by 1 or 2 axis, which will lead to the bones to be scaled disproportionally throughout all the axises (when i say axis I mean the x, y, and z axis)
For example, when scaling using the green square, it will only scale through X and Y axis, and it will not change the z axis. This is what makes the bones disproportionate. (each color means each axis, green means y axis, red means x axis, and blue means z axis.)
If this doesn't work, then delete any vertex groups that might be in the limbs. (you have to delete the vertex groups before the bones are connected to the limbs. You can 'disconnect' them by selecting everything then doing Alt + p then pressing 'clear parent') Look at this to find out how to delete vertex groups: docs.blender.org/manual/en/latest/modeling/meshes/properties/vertex_groups/assigning_vertex_group.html#deleting-vertex-groups
If all this doesn't work, the last thing I can say is make sure you're connecting the bones and limbs in the right order (select bone and THEN the limb)
commenting and liking this for future references
omg coming back a year later but you helped me sm! it was stretching, but instead of deleting the vertex groups when pressing alt + p, I disconected the bones . (im currently using ver 4.0)
@@txetrxsher
a year later i dont even remember how to do any of this! But I'm glad my past knowledge helped! :)
@@VerySourTaste ohh lol okay , thank you so much tho !!
but does this mean I have to restart?
DUDE THIS HELPED ME ALOT
AMAZING!!!!! 🎉🎉
Thank you so much, I've been looking at other tutorials on what should I do to make the bones move with the body, and apparently Automatic weights isn't needed! ^^
Can you please make a video about how to make any Roblox avatar with a blender, Choose your colour for your full-body Roblox avatar, Rigg a Roblox avatar, sizes, length and width of a Roblox avatar and show how to upload a Roblox avatar and sell your Roblox avatar for earning Robuxs?
Tip for those that are importing OBJ into blender:
Press and hold Ctrl key and select every OBJ file, it's better and faster than going back n forth
instead of individually exporting each body part you can just export your avatar and into blender while impoting you file you can tap on geometry and spilt by group
TYSM!!! THIS WORKS FOR ME 2 TIMES!!
good tutorial..thank you
There is a easier way to export the body, just export the whole thing from studio into one thing, then press the option which makes the pieces separate in blender, this would save a lot of time exporting and importing. As for naming you can just do that in blender.
What option is this? I'm new to blender and kind of want to create my thumbnails easier
yes this would be easy but to rig the body u ill have trouble
@@Ummthesecond Left click on the entire thing in the workspace or the entire group in blender, right click, and click Export Selection
@@vectorthehop3945 thanks
@@Ummthesecond yw - right now I'm trying to use a preset rig cuz im honestly too lazy to rig it myself plus the rig in question has a really really nice face rig.. the problem is that its texture mapping just didnt work so now this is day 3 or smth trying to make something good
Finally an actual tutorial for this
i enjoy this.
finally now i dont have to make a pose and import it to blender just to make a realistic gfx
Thanks , cant believe content creators like you dont get attention :(
well my random upload schedule is probably part of it lol
@@vayshkarell But really you helped me understand a rig the rest were just telling me to download one lol
I LOVE YOU HOLY SHIT THE ONLY WORKING r15 RIGGING TUTORIAL AAAKJHSKJAHKAKAK
I Love ur keyboard sound
thanks for the TURORIAL
I’ve been using this method for awhile now!! But.. I’ve been having trouble making my character’s joints bend smoothly and it’s so difficult finding ways to make it work. Mostly because of how my character is built. What do you recommend?
this is a good tutorial
tip: you know you could highlight all it take a while but it works
u saved my life tysm
What are we to do if our body parts aren't separate items like a sweater over the arms, the sweater is a single object....
easier way of importing is export all of the roblox character, when importing in blender on the right it should say geometry and check "export as group" it should import it all in different parts
On God bro.
When I import some of the body parts of the roblox avatar like the lower arm it doesn't show up.
I'm gonna be honest, the only issue I'm having rn is I can't select the mesh and the bone at the same time
So uhhh I put all the bones and rigging meat together but when I try to rotate the arms/legs, it bends and disforms, kinda stretching out, which I don't want. I'm not sure how to fix the problem sadly.
Having trouble with posing, whenever I rotate anything it becomes stretched any fixes? Great video by the way!
you probably didn't set the skeleton right, it has to be in the exact center of the limbs, otherwise it'd get all stretched out
how to make S15 rig with this? i want to make a rig but idk how to make it deform skinned mesh rig
Everything is fine until I actually move the body. It gets distorted and large. Is there a fix. The thing is, I can move the limbs properly. It's just that the limbs become so large.
i was wonder when i import the model inside blender there were always that one square at the bottom of the model, idk how to remove it plz help
So, if it was R6, i would need 2 bones in the arm, one bone for the legs, no waist, one bone for the torso, one for head? And it would be a total of 8 bones for R6?
How do I specify each item? I tryed to ungroup it but it ended with my roblox avatar with no hat or hair pls make a tutorial
Okay so what do i do if like there's alot of 3d models in the character tho dO i just export it with the armor or smth? Or do i only have to do the limbs 1 by one? (not a user from roblox i just found the model from roblox studio)
So I'm a bit lost, how exactly did you get stuff like the textures or the shirts to work? I'm completely new to this whole blender thing, so I'm sorry if it sounds like a dumb question,,
DJJEJAJDKA NVM I FIGURED IT OUT IM JUST STUPID
Man I spent all Day making a rig using the basic-metarig on my R6 model
Now I know what to do thank
But first I gatta make my R6 model to R15 (that's ganna take a while)
So you didn't use IK
I've got a question for you.
What's the proper scaling proportions in Blender for the average Roblox avatar? Because whenever I attempt to put mine into Vrchat, it's always ridiculously big.
you have to scale it down to 0.01 or 0.02
u can hold ctrl and select them all at once...
Q: when I rotate it, it scales it but when I rotate x axis it doesn't. But Great Video!
When I import my characters body parts, the body part appears white without any color or texture. I'm stuck, please help
thank you so much
3:07 to make stuff much easier just right click hold all of them
Yo that avatar kinda looks like Rosalina from super mario galaxy
Is it supposed to or is it based off her?
Thanks a lot mate
how do you see the bone structure while also seeing the char
maam when i try to rotate the arm and leg it just became thick
cool, thanks
i cant see the object in blender i do the same thing you say in video but it doesnt show up after importing
tysmmmm
I think I did it! Thank you!
Awesome!
You didn't do it, you have months of work ahead of you
only useful tutorial if im gonna be honest, even 3 years later
Hello, what if there are multiple avatars. Do i have to do this was every individual character i import :( sounds extremely tedious
Why does my roblox character go transparent when i import it into blender
Thank you aaaaaaaaa
thanks
new sub
I did everything but my clothes, skin, and other textures were not there
how did you move your camera along the bottom of the floor? like 2D
nice mask
Hey, I was wondering if you could do an tutorial of how to get your Roblox avatar into Unity as well. This because not only me but others might think that added Roblox Avatars into VRchat might be somewhat awesome.
Sorry, I don't use unity and thus am not able to
@@vayshkarell no worries, thanks anyways
thank youi!
Wow! I found a way to not download a whole lot of SHIT for rigging, thanks my man
I honestly have no idea whenever I rotate the metarig, the entire model becomes distorted. Any suggestions?
same
whenever i export it and put it into mixamo and download the file , when I put it into blender its like stretched , any help? thx
when i import it it doesnt go into the center but on the sides what do i do about that
Is it possible that I can edit the body to make it skinnier and not broad like that cause I want to make characters for my game
0:00 HELLOOOOO THIS IS STAMPY
Your an og
@@crystaldubois6239 your opinion is valid
I have a problem, when I import the hats it just shows white (in material preview)
How do I do this with layered clothing?
Hi, how do I apply the textures to the objects? Whenever I import them, they're textureless and grey. How do I fix this?
Probably your view mode, make sure it's set to material preview
when my avatar loads in, it's transparent for some reason
nice video, could you make one with r6 rigs?
which version of blender did you use?
hi, im a beginner and i dont know how to select multiple accessories in roblox studio. how do you do that?
i really wanna learn blender. i will appreciate any help :)
Hold CTRL and select the accessories
Question, so whenever I port the model's parts in, get the bones alligned, scale, etc etc. After all that whenever i group the bones and rotate them it distorts them. Read the comments and made sure that there were no vertex groups, pressed the right grouping option, and made sure I was in pose mode. Not quite sure what I could be doing wrong.
update:
just apply rotation and scale in the object menu at the top left of your viewport
@@rocket8869 how do i do that?
@@letsplaynay9936
be in object mode
at the top left there should be a list going left to right naming some things
near the right side should be "apply"
select the mesh and hit apply
then select "rotation and location"
@@rocket8869 Ok thank you. Apply scale to the armature fixed the problem.
