As a lost student, I found it helpful since I need to delve into different branches of biotechnology in order to find my major. Thanks. It was helpful. Waiting for more stuff like this. So I am a new subscriber🙂.
Great to hear! Welcome to the channel :D
Wow thank you I'm literally in highschooler trying to decide what I want to do to fit my classes to it and this helped me get a better idea of the types of jobs in biotechnology thanks!!
No problem ;)
Thank you so much. I completed a year of biotech, and I am still pretty bad at having a bigger picture of what I might be getting into. Think I am getting somewhere now, hopefully good place to start.
Stem cells rule! Great video as always. I saw on the left that you also have giant microbes soft toys? They're awesome! I used to buy a E. coli or stem cell soft toy for my supervisors!
Thanks buddy! And yes, well spotted! It's a liver, a liver cell, a colitis colon, a healthy colon and a macrophage ;)
Great explanation! I want to use my CFO skills for advancing human health using data for financial advancement.
Well am a high school student and was so messed up that I didn't know what I wanted to become or what was I interested in... Recently I read a sci- friction and that's when I got to know bio tech and am so interested in it! Ur video helped me alot. Now I finally can choose and be confirmed about my career in future 😌
Thank you sir
You're welcome! ;)
I am also studying in bio tech stream in my high school
May I know where are you from? Sissy
If I may ask, can you name the science fiction book you were reading?
Thank you for the information! Never heard of black brown and violet before. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
You're welcome! And let's hope we don't hear TOO much about black! ;)
I had no idea there was a Rainbow for Biotech fields. thanks you! I actually am already into Biotech workforce. DNA science applications. This simple video helped with my direction, because I want to get more education, still.

Great video! I love your way of presenting everything :D
Thanks, buddy! I do my best not to stumble over my non-native English tongue too much! :D
cant lie, biomeducated is my new favorite play on words
Haha, cool! :D
When you started talking about colors I really thought you were kidding 😅 this is soooo cool! I’ve never heard of this before!!
My MAJOR take from this though is: I always thought medical devices were considered biotech. I kept waiting for their color and then I realized that BIOtech involves living organisms. My mind was blown 😅 great to know!!
So where exactly would we see these colors then? 🤔 or is it just an abstract way to represent each industry?
Thanks for the feedback, Meri! Yeah, medical devices falls under the category 'medtech' I think ;)
And indeed, you don't really 'see' these colors (even though they belong to the visible spectrum ;) ; haha, what a nerd joke right there, but guess what, it's part of who I am haha :D).
It's more metaphorical/abstract as you say!
Biomed Master woah I’ve been using the term biotech wrong this whole time 😪 and ok that makes sense! Thank you for this video 😁
Thank you so much sir for this great lecture.

Hi I was wondering what other additional courses and masters I can do with a biotechnology and biopharmaceuticals degree can this degree bring me into the healthcare part of biotechnology ?
Hi there! Yes, sure sounds like it! Think about for instance a biotech company that is developing next-generation antibody therapeutics, or a company that's developing engineered bacteria to deliver specific active compounds, or... or..., or... ;)
Hey, I have a question, Is clone/design babies, gene editing/crisper, which category do they land in.
Good question! Crispr/Cas9 is a gene editing technique and can be broadly applied for almost any color mentioned. The fact that you could use crispr to make designer babies is indeed an erhical question, so the concept of that is 'purple', but that's regardless of the technique as such.
Thank you for this!!!
No problem, man! Thanks for the comment!
Thank you so much.. very informative ..
No problem! ;)
Love this video! I have a question; recently I got into Food Biotechnology for bachelor’s degree, but I’m actually more interested with healthcare biotechnology and biomedical science. Is there any chance for me to pursue master’s degree in biomedical-related course later?
Hi there! Thanks :D The answer is yes, BUT perhaps you might have to take an additional gap year to catch up on some courses. But yes, there are options to switch majors going from undergrad to grad level with a certain amount of courses to catch-up on ;)
Biomed Master by additional gap year does it means studying b
y my own for the whole year before applying master the next year? And is Food Biotechnology the same with Food Technology? I’m having a hard time to find informations on google because of the confusing terms
Hi again, sorry for a late reply, I don't get warnings about comments on comments weirdly enough :s
Yes, a gap year could include for instance several courses from a biomedical undergrad out of year 1,2 or 3 that are crucial for you to master in order to progress to a master's. So this could mean you would have to go to classes and sit with people that are 3 years younger than you. I think there's a (perhaps subtle) difference between food biotech and food technology.
Here's what I found for food tech in my country: "Food should not only be produced, it should also be delivered to the ultimate consumer in an acceptable form if it is to fulfil its nutritional destiny. To bring foods to the consumer in an acceptable form, on the one hand processing technologies are used to convert edible raw materials into foods with decreased inherent stability; on the other hand preservation technologies are required to increase the stability and shelf life of foods.
Based on these considerations two technological dimensions are the key objectives: the transformation (processing) of raw materials into products suited for human consumption and the role of postharvest and food preservation unit operations in delivering safe and nutritious foods to the end consumer."
So food biotech is more focused on things like crops (GMOs), or making burgers out of stem cells for instance.
Cheers!
Hello need for an emergency answer my teacher asked me to find an relation between biotechnology ethics and biosecurity and after some research i deduce that it is all about violet biotechnology ! What do you think about my answer please help 😭😭
Badly i could'nt find more informations about this type !
Yes, search for more on violet biotech and you should find ethical discussions on the use of biotech ;)
Hello thank you so much for these videos.
I have a question , so you could study biomedical science career and then when you finish it, can you do a master of some biotechnology areas for specialization?
Thank you so much
Greetings from Spain ✌🏽
Ola! Yes sure, you could perhaps do an additonal MSc in biotech, but perhaps some of the techniques you will learn during your biomed years could allow you to enter biotech or pharma directly. Stuff like cloning, cell culture, protein production and purification, host strain development, cell-based assays, ligand-receptor assays, etc... or for instance if you were more occupied with EEG scans because you were more into neuroscience you could end up in a company that develops medtech or something like that...there's many options, and try to ask yourself what the value is of the techniques you will learn in your Master internship :)

Biotech cosmetics which colour is it?
Not really a color on it's own, but there seems to be much 'blue (marine) biotech' applications in cosmetics:
"Marine biotechnology plays an important role in the cosmetics
industry, presenting some new compounds to the production
of cosmetics (Viv ́o-Ses ́e and Pla 2007)"

Hello...may I know the difference between biomedical science and bio medicine... Or is it the same ?🙂
It's basically the same in terms of semantics. I've double checked to be sure: www.mastersportal.com/. I have filled in biomedicine for Belgium in this database, and then they list a.o. my university, where it's actually called biomedical science. If some uni's call it biomedicine and other biomedical science, and the UK even doesn't distinguish between MLT and biomed, it becomes even more difficult haha.
More importantly is to check the curricula and the aim of the courses: is the course its aim to deliver a clinical lab based worker, or rather a research focus? Watch this video here: czcams.com/video/NthMfwgck3A/video.html
Cheers!
@@Biomeducated thank you so much for the information 😊

Do one really need to be very very smart to persuade this learning field and career? I’m not very good at chemistry theories and remembering all the element codes. I think I can follow physic and also at math with enough time given. I don’t mind studying biology cos I studied it when I was in high school. I’m currently thinking to change career from civil engineering. And also English is not my first language. Can someone please give some opinion about it? Thanks!
If you're not very good at something, you can always become better at it by studying harder and training more. So if you want to follow a different path you won't know unless you try it of course.
Sir which course is best in biotechnology in canada please reply sir
Hi there! Honestly, I don't have any clue on what the landscape looks like in Canada... I'm in Belgium. My suggestion: use sites like bachelorstudies or bachelorportal to look for evaluations of specific courses in specific countries. Aternatively: in many cases, largest uni's are in the biggest cities, so maybe check for uni's in large cities of Canada :)

hello! thanks for explaining the jobs of biotech. I'm really interested in blue and gold.
I'm already an undergrad student taking biology, but I've been considering biotech for a career path lately. I'm planning to get an MSc anyway, but would a degree in bio and an MSc in some field of biotech help me start a career in that field?
Hi there! Sure, it will be your M. Sc in biotech that will be decisive for your career in biotech, as it will be your highest degree. Do note that perhaps you will need to bridge the gap between your undergrad in biology and M. Sc in biotech! This depend on the specific university requirements, so make sure to get informed at the university of your interest!
It's great video
Hi I just wanted to know more about red biotechnology
1. What major should I take on red biotechnology
I m so confusing what bachelor degree would I chose between plants and animals biotechnology related courses
Hi there! Red = all healthcare related biotech, mostly applied to humans. If you take biotechnology, in most cases you will start broad, but as you progress you will get the option to select into which branch you go into (for example by choosing a bachelor project focused on human health. You can definitely specialize even more in your Master.

If I complete Bachelor of science in Biomedical science can I study masters in biotechnology?
Yes, but not probably not directly. It might be that you take a gap year to catch up on some undergrad courses from the bachelor in biotech (but this is very university dependent!)
@@Biomeducated if I study Bsc. (Hons) in biomedical science (4year program) with specification in Biotechnology can I able to study masters in Biotechnology in Europe or any?
@@logalobi9140 If switching countries going from undergrad to grad, then things might be a bit trickier. This will depend on how the university you apply for will evaluate the quality of your undergrad. Just remember that in general you could more easily make the switch from biomed to biotech or other way around than perhaps from industrial chemistry engineer to biomed for example...
@@Biomeducated Thank you sir for your reply
Im trying to find a path with biotech in forensics
Forensics is a very cool topic indeed! However, I think the amount of biotech (molecular) techniques in forensics is somewhat limited to standard stuff: DNA fingerprinting, perhaps some entomology... but I think also a lot of mass spectrometry and such is involved, not necessarily on biological samples. I think forensics as such is a major on its own, no?
Can a natural science graduate pursue biomedical science?? 😞😞
Hi there! Depends on what is included in natural science? Which courses did you have?
PS: I answered this on the other video where you posted your question ;) perhaps you did not get the notification?
I have zoology chemistry and botany as my subjects
@@antoakil5146 Sorry! Strangely enough I don't get notifications for all responses I get :s so I never saw your second answer...
uuuuhm, in my opinion you would get an advantage if you already touched upon 'the central dogma', know DNA basics, organic chemistry, some anatomy. It sounds ike your focus was largely on animals/plants? Biomed is very human focused of course. Still, being a science major you have an advantage! I would suggest to really check the requirements of the specific school you had in mind and ask the counselor or something for more specific info!
Sir what you teach me .. gene therapy and genetic engineering ...i wait for comments

How brought you to determine the new coronavirus was not from a lab?
Of course I didn't determine this myself, but the general consensus amongst the experts, namely corona virologists still is that it is most likely to be zoonotic. This stuff can be delineated based on genome sequencing analysis and compare RNA sequences with specific mutations to other viruses. Here's some coverage in more popular media: edition.cnn.com/2021/07/07/health/origins-coronavirus-letter-virologists-scn/index.html ; www.newscientist.com/definition/coronavirus-come-lab/
From india
Your Corona virus comment has aged well!
This is the same as medical engineer?
Hi there! No, biotechnology is not equal to biomedical engineering per se. However, instead of medical devices you could opt to focus on genetic/cell/tissue-engineering, and that subfield does overlap majorly with biotech/biomedical science!

You are handsome sir💕

So biotechnology is like the og of genetic engineering and chemical engineering
Well, sort of, depends on how you look at it. Biotech and genetic engineering wouldn't be here if it weren't for 'molecular biology' discoveries. Chemical engineering: yes in the sense of biochemical stuff, like DNA polymerization, or phosphorylation of proteins...
